Installed the hub bearings last night. Still need to check the new Buchanan spokes and ream the holes, but getting closer to seeing the wheels come together

How hard is it to spoke up the wheels and get the wheel true? I have never done that and have been reluctant to try.

Can you elaborate on the process of straightening the radiator?

It’s pretty crude really, but radiators are inherently weak. You can simply put it in a soft vice and straighten warpage just twisting by hand. Side to side bending can be done by a few good whacks in the right place using a decent piece of wood and a hammer. I know this sounds like I’m a hack, but that’s about it. You can also slip a strong, but thinner strand if wire inside the edge between the fins to pull out a slight bend in the center. It is preferable to use a brass punch hitting on the edge against a hard surface. My radiators don’t have much of an edge like the newer ones, so I used a wire. There are plenty of YouTube videos on fixing bent radiators. Straightening fins just takes a lot of time. You just have to realize you can only do so much with these methods. If you want them perfect, we’ll you either send them out or buy the $100 Chinese ones on eBay....which I here aren’t too bad by the way. Thanks, hope this helps somewhat

I don’t think lacing up will be so difficult. Now truing the wheel might be another story. Just boils down to having the right equipment and knowing where to tighten or loosen. I know there’s a little more to it it, but there’s also plenty of video out there on it. We’ll see I guess......ha

Since you took over my thread, I get first dibs on parts....lol. I’m looking for 19260-ks7-010. It’s a release found inside the right case water pump. If you have a good one, let me know

I have new stainless spokes from Buchanan’s. I’m not familiar with Z spokes. Not sure what was on my bike originally. I did remove and keep my front spokes, but cut the back ones out due to the corrosion. Sorry I’m no help on that one

*Yes, I know it has an 85 engine in it. Does have seemingly correct swingarm and rear disc brake.... just seems weird that the coil and black box location is different ?

I’m no expert by any means, but doesn’t look like an 87’ to me. There are some similarities for sure in these years, but the frame doesn’t look correct along with shock and a few other things. Maybe someone else with more knowledge of the 85’ could chime in.....

I agree something doesn’t seem right, but I just went and looked again, frame seems exactly the same in all respects, EXCEPT where the electrics mount. * Anybody know where you can buy the HRC stickers to place on the shroud ? Also, where to buy the proper blue seat cover ?

Made a little progress the last couple of days. Who ever mentioned the seat cover was fun, you were right. I didn’t buy the stitched one on purpose, but I’m sure it goes on easier. I like the one I have, but very difficult to stretch and make right. Still I didn’t get it perfect, I believe it is slightly farther back than I wanted, but I don’t know if I want to rip it off and start over. Visual progress, but may work on the engine this weekend now that I have some parts in.

I just stumbled on this post, that is going to be a great looking bike.I just finished this one a few weeks ago and got the first race on it last Sunday. Surprised at how well they handle especially the front end, and power is very smooth. For the frame I found Chevy engine block orange was a dead match for the UFO plastics. Also there are shroud graphics on Ebay for about $15. Don't know if you have ever had to set the power valve linkage, that was a real treat!
