Your engine cases came out nice! Can you take a photo of your paint & primer cans? Also, where are you getting them from? Thanks....

Thanks....I get these from O’Reilly’s auto. It’s the only place I can find that sells this Duplicolor paint, although you could probably order it. They were both easy to use. I think any good ceramic high heat primer will be good, but I swear by this low gloss black.

Great job Mark! The engine turned out really good. Good luck on the seat. I just did mine and it was a bear!

Motor looks fantastic!

I dig the background pic! Great company. I designed their blog back in the day.

Thanks Mark, I Use their high heat clear for my raw pipes, it holds up surprisingly well...

Wow... that’s cool. Im an aircraft mechanic here in Dallas for Southwest. Great company, been here 23 years. It’s a lot different now that Herb Kelleher isn’t here, but still a good place to work. Here’s a little something different than a Honda for ya ... RIP Herb

^ Very nice! Keep us in the air, dogg!

Is your Honda chillin in a hangar? I can't imagine all the rad equipment you have access to.

Awesome build!! I'm finishing up an 89 cr250 and am looking for a swingarm pivot bolt if anyone has one they'd be willing to sell that would be sweet! This is mine just need to finish polishing the tank, getting new fenders, seatcover, get the stickers re-done, and slap in the swingarm bolt then she's ready to rip!

Mark, don’t know if you’re familiar with VMX Racing in NM, but looks like they have a good seat for you ...http://www.vmxracing.com/seat-foam-cr125-1988-89.html?category_id=22
Good info....looks like a good seat. I struggled with the cover decision. I see there’s really only a couple of choices....one that has a stitched seam and one that’s doesn’t from Thailand. Stitched seat looks of better quality, but not original look.

Looks great.... I love that deep red color with the red/white. One of the best looking bikes IMO. Post a pic after you get the plastics finished up. Don’t have a pivot bolt, but if you can’t find one, let me know I’ll check around

I’ve seen people weld around the original ones. I think they even sell a kit that you can weld on. Im going to use a set from a yz426 which iare wider and a good fit substitute for the 87’s. I should get them back from powder coat tomorrow. I’ll post a pic

I just got one of the '87 seat covers from Thailand, and the texture and weight of material is damn near perfect. Ceet makes new seat foam, I was thinking of getting one.

yah I had ordered one from Thailand also...just got it in. I was surprised it's not bad. I'll put it on this weekend and see how it looks. Hope it will hold up also. Got new Sun rims and spokes from Buchanan's out of Cali. I'll post pics of those next week as well. Should have my hubs back from powder coat

The only thing I don't like about Sun rims is they aren't dimpled for spoke nipples. The gold may be closer to original, but I like everything else about the Takasagos better.

Yes I gave that some thought and eventually decided to go with Sun because of the overall appearance of the color. I personally just don’t care for the deep gold color of Excel. I’m not sure whether dimples will make a huge difference or not. I guess we’ll see. I may regret it later, but I don’t think so. The good thing about building your own bike is it’s yours and in some ways projects your own style. Unless your going for 100% correctness, everyone’s is a little bit unique. Hopefully mine turns out nice.

That was not a criticism, unless you can find NOS rims anything is going to be a compromise. No doubt this will be a nice one.

No criticism taken.... I totally understand where your coming from. I always appreciate people’s opinion. Hopefully they’ll look great. I’ve never had Sun rims, but I know they are good quality

WONDERFUL WORK!

Thanks for the info on the cylinder paint.

You are living right. I didn't even know they had Aircraft stripper in such a large container. :-)

Oregon Sandman, thanks for the tip on the clear for bare pipes.

Picked up a few parts today. I went with Sun rims, stainless spokes and nipples. I had such bad corrosion on the rear it kinda drove me this way. I see a lot of excel, SM Pro and others that are nice, I hope these turn out as well. Installing power valves as well. Things are definately slowing down when it comes to engine stuff. But have a lot of work to do now that parts are in.... thanks for following and the good words. There are some awesome bikes on here to follow
