Maybe a track the Minnesota guys ventured over to, Hixton WI, always enjoyed going there. Great dirt and fun layout up and down the hills. One year they even got Ron Lechein to come out and ride a couple laps on his KX500

Wild. Still there? Raced D23 from about 97-07 before going to college then moving to Colorado. Rode with Sedlacek’s and Brown’s mainly.

I’m in St.Paul now but get out to Morrison every quarter. Make it a point to get to the Red Rock for Mexican food.

Good times.
Lol who are you? My dad raced with Kirk and Lonny and I raced with Michael Sedlacek.

Good choice on food. Red Rocks Grill has 34oz long islands. Good move if you don’t have time to pregame a concert lol

Yep, full gates are great! I remember 2 gates of 125B at some early season races. Also Lake Geneva didn't have trophies (or big enough gate, can't remember) for 2 classes so they would have 2 "heats", then top 10 or 15 went to the main and then LCQ for remaining gates. Was pretty cool because then all the "fast" guys raced in the same "final". Otherwise I remember after the riders meeting waiting for the split to come out to see if you got a easy or hard class that day!

I'm in west bend,wi, dyracuse was a eye opener first time, but now I ride there twice a month, it's good to see denmark open again. It's a good natural terrain track, was told he brought a bunch of dirt in, should be good.

Hixton is awesome. First time I met Ryan Dungey was at Hixton, way before he turned pro. Dude was killing it, I never seen someone go so fast through the whoops there.

There's a new track on the D23 schedule in SW MN called Diamond Park owned by a guy named Ackermann, anyone know what it's supposed to be like?

His name is Dale Ackermann. It will be near Lakefield MN in the south western part of the state just off I-90. I have not been there yet, but a friend of mine was there two weeks ago with Dale checking it out. He said it reminds him of the old Elko track kind of. He was very excited about the potential for the track.

Man, just read through this thread it is awesome and some of the pictures really brought back memories... I have done some work in the gravel pit that was Maplehurst, it's sad every time I'm in there... I would love to go back to Lake Geneva on a friday night and race. So many people came out every week. Also seeing Denmark, that track was another favorite I was so bummed when it closed. Hopefully whoever's trying to get it running again can keep it going.

I'm 30 years old and finally getting back into the "lifestyle" It seems like azzi is the only legit track within an hour of milwaukee these days... azzi, valley motosports and lake Geneva were on the list back in my racing days. (I remember when the plateau and gator pit were Bad ass) now 65s can jump them lol

It was cool back then, Azzy and Denmark would switch the track direction every other time they had a race. Thought it made it interesting and took a little of the "home field" advantage away doing that. Denmark was my favorite track, here's a couple pictures from there back in the day. Also went back last year and got a picture of the same corner 27 years latter...
Oh yeah notice the one thing different back then, full gates of 125s!!

Man i love all the pictures in this Thread especially the full Gates, thanks for sharing the pictures.

In that Cambridge first corner pic from the 70s, was the start in a different location than it is now? Looks like it ran parallel with the parking/camping area and where the current tunnel jump is if I'm not mistaken. Love seeing the old photos that were taken long before I was born!

NW metro here. Been away from racing the past few years to focus on my business but will be getting back into it this year.

For district 23/armca.org is the MN AMA sanctioning body, they just posted the official schedule for 2019 a few days ago. Jordan SX is also a great track. It's been several years since I've raced there (2012) and I think a lot of it has changed but still close to the metro.

I'm guessing the dirt at Diamond MX is going to be hardpack clay?

I have driven by it on 94 a couple times over the years and it looks like a lot of fun.

Also another track that I don't think anyone mentioned yet is Wheeler in WI. About 1.5 hrs from the metro. 2 tracks, 1 with jumps and the other is up and down the hills, GP style. All deep sand. A lot of fun in the spring or fall or after it rains.

Yes your correct on your assumption of the start. It was always packed with full gates (rubber band) and dusty as hell. No such thing as watering back then. Still my favorite track in the day.

Well, after several years lurking, I am finally a member. Spent years racing Azzie, Maplehurst, Lake Geneva and on Broadway's track in Union Grove. Just popping in to say hi. Now, I just ride private tracks. Good to finally be a member.

Anyone remember Hidden Valley Paintball & MX in Ettric, WI? Always enjoyed that place, except they always made it an absolute mud pit for morning practice before the races.
