no.....turning it 'faster' wouldn't do anything, besides wheel spin maybe... turning it further would, though.

Well, huh, might as, might as well ask why is a tree good? Why is the sunset good? Why are boobs good? Man, firecrackers, ya stick 'em in mailboxes, you drop 'em in toilets, shove 'em up bullfrogs asses.

I agree Bobby, that cross jump was unnecessary risk. And Chad getting passed in the same place twice, come on. I'm a fan of Chad but under pressure he can ride a little tight, where James seems to ride a bit wild.

How many hate filled stares from grown men and women did Bubba have to deal with when he smoked the rich white kids?

He was handed everything, huh? They just let the black kids race by themselves in the segregated south of the early 1990's so that's where all those wins and titles come from?

don't turn what i said into hate or race.

bubba had rides from kawi and fox from the time he left his pw80. hence, handed everything. never did i say he didn't earn it. he was engrained with moto and to be the best. but that all came from a very early age.

so fuck yourself, and have a nice day.
there is no crying in moto or internet.

James dad paid for that pw 50 and the kid rang it out until he was an elite rider for his level and sponsors began their support.

Same for Millsaps, Alessi, RC, Tim Ferry, Kehoe, Wardy......Antsie and the list goes on.

Reed got free bikes as mini rider too. Thats how the system works. Tons of kids got all those goodies too and didn't amount to much in the pro's or even the A class.

Sure they are both pretty even but James is like 1/2 to 1 second faster in practice and on the fastest lap durring almost every race. And is it me or does Chad look thinner.

I meant James is faster because James is shorter. Just enough to give him a little advantage.

Who knows why one is faster than the other...

Same reason I could train my ass off and do moto after moto after moto, and run, and weight train and all that...and my brother could literally come off the couch and be beat me.

Why is that? Why is my brother always just a tick faster than me, no matter how hard I work at it, or how little he works at it...he's always faster than me.

Just last weekend, I was riding a little track near my parents house...and my brother, who hasn't even been on a bike in about 3 years (busy with work), hopped on my dads 450. And was still faster than me...(for the record, I hadn't been on a track in about that same amount of time, but I have been riding-single track)

the reason James is faster than chad is likely the same reason my brother is always just a tick faster than me.

My brother is shorter than me...maybe that's it.

that's definitely a big part of it. this past weekend was a perfect example of why stewart is faster than reed--it's because there are only two men in the WORLD who can hold a wide open pace for the entire race, stewart, and the other is retired. chad has proven that he can go as fast (or sometimes faster) than bubba, but he can't do it for a prolonged period of time. stewart can hold the bike on that edge all day, and chad can't. i don't think it's physical, because we know chad's in shape, but mental. he can't cope with the level of concentration it takes to ride that edge for 20 laps. it seems like once james gets a little lead, chad backs it down a bit and settles for second. when james is in 1st, 8th, or 20th, he's pinned until the checkered flag. jmo.

How do you explain earlier in the season when Chad would get a horrible start and pound out the fastest laps of the race on the 16 or 17th lap?

Chad had a few races where he made up 10+ seconds on James and came up a couple laps short of catching him either from a shitty start or falling in the first turn.
sorry, tcannon, but I don't ever remember reed making up "10+ seconds" on stewart. I have seen stewart make up 10+ on chad though...and as for riding fastest laps at end of race, I never said chad wasn't in shape. I simply said he can't hold that wfo pace as long as stewart, and if you read what I wrote, I said it's MENTAL, not physical. chad is an absolute bad ass on a motorcycle, that's not in dispute. the thread was, "why is bubba faster?", and in my opinion, it's because he can't hold the razor's edge as long as james.

OK so He thinks faster, by slowing down the race. Have you ever noticed that you will have someone that talks real slow and almost looks like they are half asleep but on the track they are super fast?
Funny you say that. Most of the local pros are like that around home Smile

yes, I know he was faster at A2, but he fought his bike the whole race. now they both have the bikes sorted out, and james is just faster. bottom line--james is faster over a 20 lap race, and chad better hope james makes a pretty big mistake in the next few rounds, which could certainly happen. admit it--when you see james work his way into second behind chad and he's still a straightaway behind, you KNOW he's going to catch (and probably pass) chad. can't say the same when riders are reversed...

What seperates a local pro that works his ass off from the fast pro that he can never catch? The same thing, the brain.

Chad and James both have equal talent and both work equaly hard, but James's brain works and reacts that little bit faster. James has a faster and more creative brain then any other racer. He is able to think way ahead of where he is at, and able to outside the box.
The best way to explain it is he is able to slow down the race in his mind. He sees the race at slow-motion and is thinking way ahead of where he is at.
Because of this he is able to react faster and more efficient at speed(rythem sections), figure out more creative lines, and his body will react to what the bike is doing without his mind having to think about it.

The same thing separates the great F 1 drivers from the average F 1 drivers. When you can slow the race down in your mind, its like the difference between HD tv and regular cable.

I don't agree at all. If you wanted to actually copy and paste what Emig has been reiterating than by all means just give the credit to him. Do you honestly believe all of that is why he is faster? It is a personal choice on how they go about riding. Three tenths of a second and James has to do all of that to gain three tenths? As for the Rc comments about the line choice. Reed said he was protecting the inside.
I dont watch the races on TV or listen to the webcast so I have no idea what Emig says. I go to about 85% of them so I dont really watch them.

Do you really believe that James makes up 3/10s because of the way he goes about practice durring the week?

Both train extremely hard, both have huge amounts of talent, these two are so evenly matched its scary. 3/10s is made up by James's brain working faster. There are exercises they do to help with reaction times and Chad is getting better, but right now James has the advantage in that department.

Someone mentioned the guy who talks slow and looks like he is asleep but hauls. Its a mixture of natural talent and a faster working brain for all those guys. Why cant the guy who trains every day and rides every day get any better? Because he is already working at max speed.

Every professional athlete, when measured, has faster reaction times and is able to think faster when tested, thats why you hear an NFL player say that a 3 or 4 second play takes forever.

I dont only know what I am talking about, but its what I do for a living. I am not going to argue, in fact I will probably never post again so you can take what I post anyway you want.

james is playing with fire cutting across that jump like that...not cool.
Huh? Not cool??... coming from you who loves old school? Make up your mind, do you want hard racing, hard passing, or are you going to the whining (Reeds RacerX interview) side of things now?

Nothing wrong there. James blasted in front of Reed is all I saw.

I don't even see where they supposedly touched in the air either. I've watched it twice, guess I'll look a 3rd time to see what Reed is talking about.

I can't play basketball as good as Jordan. It's just the way it is. Chad is a little more conservitive. That may play a role. RC made up for any short comings by trying harder, training harder than everyone else.

They slow down near the end of the race, all of them do. Why is that? If there's time to be made up it's in the last 5 or 6 laps.

I think he did it at Phoenix and also which ever race had the split start where Reed went down on the start.

Chad is just as fast, he just doesn't like to ride on the edge. (i.e.= fall so often)

I think it's as different as a Windows vs. Apple OS. Very, very much the same, but not the same at all. James seems to just process things in a different way.

James' definition of what's possible is not the same as Chad's definition. James sees combinations/rhythm sections in a different, slightly more creative way.

James brakes later and is on the gas sooner and carries more momentum - slightly, but it adds up to a .1 to .4 a lap.

JS is always 2 corners ahead in his mind and Reed and everyone else are only on the next corner in their mind. JS also does not seat bounce certain sections of the track where Reed tends to do that a lot.
