There's no video in this thread, and no actual link to it. I plan to keep it that way. For those who want to go look, they can. For those who don't, I'll give you the quick synopsis. It's about 40 seconds of extremely bad decision-making that results in Tyler's death. It's harsh, but it's also reality.

I'm sorry to see that Tyler's no longer with us. He was a very interesting character and talented former racer.
Thank you. Although this situation ended unfavorably and it’s sad. I like to watch these. Not because I enjoy seeing what happenedbut it’s a no BS, no lies, and no guesses way to know what happened. The internet is great at completely falsifying everything that happens and video is a great way to honestly know what happened good or bad.

Not exactly true. The post above you came up with a completely different interpretation based on what his eyes saw.

Either way. RIP Tyler. Terrible situation for all involved and witnessed

I agree fully, still a better alternative to reading what people think happened before any real details. People are always going to interpret things in different ways especially when the police are involved. Not one officer fired a gun so idk where he got that from.

Such a damn shame
Not at all. That last view was from a security camera that appears to capture x number of still shots per second, not actual video like the bodycams do.

I see someone already deleted the comments blaming the police for him beating his girlfriend/wife(?) and committing suicide in public for everyone around to see. Looks to me as if he was looking for a suicide by cop. Why else would you show up to the court house or police dept. with a gun? The responding officers refused to use lethal force, so he did it himself. Sad situation all around but he didn't have to involve so many people in his choice of exit. RIP and best wishes to all who had to witness that. Sad day for all those involved and for the sport.

Also, video is in no way "graphic" Graphic is Live Leak and cartel chainsaw videos.

What really makes me sad is how quick the decision was made to end his life.

Sure he was combative, and all but asking to get 3 round to “the triangle” (2 to the chest, 1 to the head). But the fact the he was trying to back away, got a bean bag tossed his way, and then in one swoop ended his life tells me this was a snap judgement.....he believed ending his life, in that split second, was better than serving X-Amount of jail time.

There’s no need to remove this thread. Pretending it doesn’t exist or suppressing information will only leave questions marks for those who aren’t “in-the-know”.

I hope this video will help anyone on the edge to realize that a split second decision doesn’t stop the world around them. Everyone is affected. Everyone is saddened. You are worth more.....I mean for fucks sake, you could hear these law enforcement officers essentially shiver after the bullet left the gun.... “fuck” “awwww shit” and “damn”....all we’re said by people whose life wasn’t impacted by his death, but genuinely hurt for him.

Rest In Peace ONE Punch. You will be missed

I'd like to know the story behind the video. To me it looks like he was just laying in the grass when police showed up harassing him, which ended with him shooting himself.

Again, another case of what people see not being the reality. That's may be what it looks like, but a bit of research shows that's not the case.

I believe he was out the front of a police station after following his former partner there. She went to report domestic violence and him stalking her with a gun. Hence the police intervening

Police swarming the scene, probably telling everyone to get down. Who knows, sad deal all the way around. No winners.

I was impressed by the action of the police. They seemed pretty concerned for Tyler’s life and bummed when he pulled the trigger. Considering he has a weapon with that many bystanders around I am surprised the cops did not use lethal force right away. Complete bummer but this shit happens often in today’s society. The amount of suicides is unbelievable and way too high. Isn’t it the 3rd leading cause of death for teens?
RIP Tyler

What is it with you Americans not following a simple instruction??
If a cop aiming a gun at me asked me to get down on my stomach I'd be down there before he'd finished his sentence!

Man what a shitty thing to say....and to explain that a little and to my knowledge from hearing what people around him have said is that he had an addiction to pain pills. I understand that as I've lived that life and at my lowest point in addiction I probably wanted someone to shoot me as well. Being an addict and listening to reason is on a different playing field to a clear mind. I'm not trying to speak for him but as a person who has lived this I've felt this way myself.

Read some of the comments above. Tyler had already made the decision that he did not want to live anymore. That's why he had a gun. He knew he was probably going to jail as soon as the police showed up. Looks like he wanted to be shot and when that didn't work out, he took his own life.

You and me on the other hand want to live. That's why we would listen to instruction.

I don't understand why people are upset about this thread. The realities of how MX and its related injuries create problems that people have a hard time dealing with. Our society loves to bury ugly stuff. For whatever reason, he made multiple poor decisions. The biggest of which was not listening to law enforcement officers followed by pulling a gun in the proximity of law enforcement. If there is a lesson, it is what could have been done beforehand, but it doesn't make this thread the problem.

Think the hardest part besides the obvious family and friends dealing with this, is watching someone you looked up to at one point do that to themselves.

I’m not sure why some people feel the need to go out in public to commit suicide. Seems very selfish to involve so many other people. But I guess if you have a mind set of taking your own life, you probably aren’t really thinking rationally in the first place.

RIP Tyler.

The police were responding to a man with a gun (Tyler Evans) call. That is why they showed up and began "harassing" him. It's their job to "harass" people who have guns in public when that is not allowed.

Honda11 is clueless. Imagine some citizens getting shot or taken hostage if police didnt come to harass him .

I think alot of us assumed he overdosed because well, dieing peacefully in a heroin sleep is alot easier to swallow than what actually happened. I felt alot more content with the former assumtion, but the way he actually died is just horrible, RIP one punch, this doesn't change the fact that he was a privateer hero in our sport

I started racing in the California central valley starting when I was 8 years old in 1992. That was in my opinion the most stacked Pro classes locally. The pros would race 125, 250 and 500 class winning upwards of $12,000 a weekend if victorious. Guys like Tyler would race Supercross Saturday and would have there mechanic or dad or friend drive them all night long to make some real money Sunday. During the summer months the CMA Bounty Hunter races in Los Banos would also be an absolute dog fight. Pro's egos would flair up, practice stuffing and cutting off. Those guys racing the pro class to us young kids were like superstars. Tyler was always very nice to me and knew him for many years during that era. Just thought i would share.

He was a genuine Travis Pastrana fan favorite when he raced, until the One Punch reputation defined him.

Either way dude was top five fan favorite of all time!

Please seek help people.

Yep.
I’d just add that in WA, once that person reports that, arrest is MANDATORY by law if officers run across the suspect within 4 hours, and essentially mandatory by most departments’ policies no matter when they run across him/her.

I would imagine CA is similar.

The state removed discretion from DV cases long ago. In WA, had this scenario unfolded, Tyler had to be taken into custody regardless of what it took.

It was very hard to watch that. Like most of these type of videos I find myself saying “just give up-fight this in court.” It is so tragic to watch someone make this choice (or provoke a shooting of themselves) when I know that 9 times out of 10, they’d be out in a couple days (tops) and could re-group with legal counsel, etc. For some reason (that I suppose takes being them/in their shoes to understand), they feel that everything is over. Sad.

So sad that Tyler chose to take his own life. Even more sad is how some of you are acting in this thread.

one of my best friends put a bullet in his temple about 10 years ago, we're all still dealing with it especially his 2 daughters. what a selfish fucking thing to do. very sad that Tyler chose this path, i have no sympathy for him. however, i do have sympathy for those close to him and i sincerely hope his family and friends can find some peace in the end.

ya know, I used to feel the same way about it being "selfish".

I had a buddy whose father (buddy was 40s, dad was 70s) shot himself in the mouth with a shotgun on the front porch and my buddy (his son) found him.

I said "What a selfish awful thing to do. I'm so sorry, friend."

He then spent the next 20 mins explaining that his father had fought booze his entire life, had done rehab like 20 times, and could never stay away from it. He actually was THANKFUL that his dad had the guts to do what he did as it released his family from their never-ending burden of cleaning up his messes, which apparently were secret yet awful. Jail, money, violence, etc.

When you step back from it, it's an awful thing to do to your son (to have him find your body) and he should have done that a different way, but in this case, they actually breathed a sigh of relief as dear ol' dad was finally free from his demons.

I don't know. Just a different perspective.
