there's been a massive market and plenty of teams that have gone with out energy drink sponsors.
I get energy drinks have taken over and are the majority of the sponsors.. but if monster or anything left.. theirs plenty of other company's who would step in..

GoPro is who i would see as the next big thing..

I've always wondered if healthier, organic alternatives that the athletes actually use would become interested in sponsoring the sport.

GoPro has been pulling back on moto more and more over the years, financially GoPro nearly went under and is on a slight recovery path...but their big spending days for sports seems to be slowing down.

Sobe was a precursor to energy drinks.

Amsoil is “supposedly” on its way out of team sponsorship.

and history says they will at some point.
if you look at whats been booted from all/most advertising already:, tobacco, alcohol, caffine has to be next..

Sport continues but with fewer participants at the national level. Has a downward spiral effect with fewer people going to races and watching, which leads to fewer riders further down the road. Just look how fewer riders there are at local races today vs 30 years ago. Don't see that trend reversing not with bike costs what they are (in relation to our stagnant wages).

People will always ride and buy bikes but with major sponsorship not happening at the national level, and with track closures and lack of reliable and affordable bikes (4, 2 or E), there will just be a whole lot fewer people buying than in the past.

Cynical? Hope so.

There will always be guys wanting to race,
The big rigs might disappear, it might go back to box vans driven by the mechanic, who knows.
It will still be the coolest scene out there.

You are spot on GuyB. But, many posts here think that there are lot's of "big" brands waiting in the wings to jump on-board.

That's not reality and sponsorships of events and teams has become harder than ever to put together. If the energy drink $ goes away, the sport of SX and MX will take a very hard hit, but it can recover over time...and like you say, it will be at a much different level.

LACR is about 35 min for me. Cahuilla is close to 2 hours with no traffic. I'd love to ride the tracks further south again soon, but it's hard with the little ones.

Lucas.pil would not pick up even closr to what monster does. They are vested elsewhere and actually show gains and profits

id expect that the powers that be are working damm hard on alternatives right now....

theres no way there are other large idustries/ companies waiting to put the current level of money in...
they, who ever they are, are going to need to be sold...and combes and luongo would need to hire people/companies to handle that.. they are expensive which neither seem inclined to spend...

i dont think this sport can afford to get smaller without oems making hard decisions...

ive had this opinion that the japanese are only in it for pride and status..ei: not that profitable for all the effort...
