Reed looks quicker than Hill.....

It's pointless to judge from an insta clip, but I don't see it.

As much as I would love to see him win again, this sounds a lot like 2017 when all we heard was "remember how fast Reed was last time he was on a Yamaha??"

His body language when hits those first fewjumps he looks a dam site more fluid then last year on the bike. Not to mention How the bike hooks up out of the berm an the speed he hits the whoops.. Btw you might wanna check the comments on his Instagram by elite sx an mx guys Commenting how good he looks.... It is only a short clip but he looks wayyyyy better then last year. Also check Hill hitting the whoops on jgr Instagram. Besides Hill hitting a beast quad Reed to me looked faster.. Whether that's the case I can't answer that, I'm purely going off what I can see...
Hey I love Reedy....but whatever your eyes think they see...I saw a guy hit a few rhythms make one turn and go through a whoop section by himself....no way that is going to tell you how fast he is...but maybe we should start picking SX winners and champions by how they do at straight rhythm....

I'll just say that if he does ride next year, those JGR yellows tend to start up front a lot...

Agree. Nothing mind blowing about the way he cornered. Like you said short clip like that shows us nothing

I would say the deal is locked in, other photos he has gear with all the sponsor logos and Suzuki logos on his pants, I’m sure fox wouldn’t make that for him just to ride at home.

Speed is hard to judge, especially watching someone ride by themselves... but he looked better in those whoops than at any point on the husky.

And... Reed always rides fast when his corners are smooth. Biggest indicator of comfort watching his career. When he is smooth, no hesitation in the turns, he is typically going fast. Early four stroke days on blue he'd pause in every turn. 09/11/12 & 14, was like early two stroke days. Didn't see that the last few years on blue.

I think reed has been a tick off mid turn/apex. Just looked like this past year he/the bike stood up a little mid corner - granted he wasn't on form.

If he gets that on par with the top guys - the rest of his riding is effortless in timing vs the guys - and let's hope they actually build some serious whoops this year...he is still amazing at really big whoops to a level I think very few modern riders are.

The Reed deal at JGR seems like the MX team is taking a page from the NASCAR team. Reed is likely bringing sponsorship $ to the team, as well as social media exposure for existing sponsors. From JGR's stand point it looks good, his ride is paid for, and the fans will be swarming the JGR truck on what is likely his retirement season. For Reedy it also makes sense. Free ride on top tier equipment to close out his career, he can focus on his riding and the fans without taking $ out of his pocket, and end his career on a factory team instead of as a privateer. Deal is really a Win Win and 22 can go out on his terms this year.

Do you mean indirectly bringing sponsorship dollars? Did I miss a press-release about a Discount Tyre or such?

I wouldn't be shocked come May next year and Reed is in contention for the title. I can see Reed having a Millsaps-2014 type season.

I wouldn't be shocked if Reed is retired already by May next year, though.

He looks lean and comfortable. Rider with most SX starts and soon first rider to win titles 10 yrs apart on the same brand.

What do you mean retirement year? He'll back up the title in 2020.

I guess this means he didn't accept the Ronnie Mac ride on the Screamin' Eagle?

I was thinking it is closer to a done deal due to the fact that he is no longer wearing Oakley, but JGR sponsor Scott goggles... my two cents

It is hard to judge. But I was being cheeky a bit saying he looked faster than Hill cause I actually think Hill should rip it up and wouldn't surprise me to see him in contention for wins. I just thought Reed looked really good even for that 20 second video.

I agree and I dont think anyone can argue that Reeds still looks good after all these years, not many riders who stick around this long still go that fast and even if he may not be in the mix for wins, he is still beating a lot of the younger guys who should be beating him. Cool

The way he is dropping that front end all stylely(is that a word? it should be!) in that rhythm section tells me that he looks comfortable.

Interesting to see he's back to wearing Scott goggles now instead of Oakley as well.
