How long has it been since Reed raced motocross for more than 2 weeks in a row? What on earth gives him the right to just expect to be picked on no real merit other than a very mediocre supercross season. Because of who he was 10 years ago? Get real. He could have at least got off his arse and instagram app and actually race at Red Bud this year to put a case forward.
These other guys are doing the hard work lining up week in week out while the Reeds figure out how to stay relevant through social media.
I'm always proud of what our Aussies accomplish overseas and even travelled to matterly and Anaheim to watch Chad race, but the Reeds have lost a current fan in me. Get off your fucking high horse and either put up or shut up, or fuck off into the retirement sunset.

Could Chad really put in 2 30 min motos at max pace? The other guys all can, been doing it all year, although Gibbs dropped out early through injury. I understand the reason for choosing Gibbs..hed never ride poorly because he wasn't feeling it or whatever...he'd never park it if he wasn't up near the front...Hes very fast, very fit and an excellent starter.
It's possible that there are a couple of other younger riders that might be going faster than Gibbs since he got injured, but he would totally have Chad covered, Chad wouldn't even see which way Evans went the way Evans is riding right now.
I think this team might get top 5 barring any bad luck, maybe even better if bad luck hits some of the top teams.
Team AUS has had plenty of bad luck at mxon"s....hope we get dome good luck this year.
I reckon Evans will raise some eyebrows in timed qualifyingl
It would be great if he lands a team ride for next year in both sx and mx, puts his heart and soul into making it a farewell tour to both remember and be proud of, topped off with being team leader at the mxon because he was once again our very best rider
So would Evans be able to say keep pace with Peick? ( genuine question) That's about Reeds pace But I agree that Reed for 2 30 min motos would not stay with Peick at the moment . In all honesty I haven't even watched Evans so I'm far from qualified to have an opinion on him other than I felt if fit Reed deserved a crack.
Im definitely still looking forward to watching the Aussies and see what this Evans guy has this year in an international field. Gibbs, in an international field definitely cool with him and can't wait to see what Lawrence can do. Il add if Reed does Iron man we will all get our answer on his speed and who shoulda woulda coulda deserved the spot out of Reed and Evans
I don't understand how he can think that he should have been chosen based on him just saying he's fit and been practising, ya gotta race to prove yourself..he's done bugger all mx in years
The standard in the top 10 in mx1 in AUS is pretty good at the moment. Evans is absolutely blitzing it right now...totally deserves the spot , Ferris says so!
Can't wait to see what he does, hope he doesn't get all nervous and blow it.
Just very disappointed in the way Chad handled this, his statement saying he was dissapointed not to be chosen was fine, the follow up saying that he is faster than anyone on the team is just disrespectful and certainly not the way to impress his fans...hes losing plenty of them over this...
I just hope he races his heart out next year in mx and sx and proves his point...Now that would be great.
Sure hope he doesn't go out on this stinky old note...leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth
He made noises about doing a few Outdoors, but didn't do them.
Whilst others are out there having a go, he should be too. Thinking your 'past' will put you into a National Team, is a very foolish thing to do.
It's not about hating or luurving the bloke, it's about his current results, and him showing that he is serious about representing his country.
He had the opportunity to show he meant business, didn't, and that is a f**k up on his part.
It's as simple as that.
And calls himself the Australian GOAT, to boot.
For the record, the true Aussie GOAT is Alby Mangles.
hey I don't mind, I've thrown him under a bus a lot like everyone on this whole forum. But he's right.. When you have Motorcycling Australia on their Instagram basically claiming him and promoting him for an up coming supercross, just too get a response or a like on their post.. AND THEN FADE HIM 2 WEEKS Later you wonder why him and Ellie call shit out all the time. If you look at even jgr and yoshimura Rd the last few days they have both milked Chad's test day....FACT, On their social media pages without even a pen to paper potentially... Other then them loaning him a bike to practice on.. I'm well aware he has an ego and is outspoken but their is often more too it, There is always 2 sides too a story and plenty of people have milked the CR 22 band wagon and I think they have had enough.
Pit Row
Not Chad Reed good? How would we really know? Chad hasn't raced mx at all recently and last time he did...he was the one getting smoked.
If he'd raced some US nationals this year and top 10ed every time then he might have a stronger claim and a reasonable argument
Yeah he has more experience in big events like mxon but fair"s fair...
Fuck, I am older than Reed and have paid more money into MA and Australian taxes, wheres my last hurray!
Fuck him!
Oh yeah, they actually had to fill out an application to nominate themselves to race and agree to pay some of the costs themselves.
Was just , if Reed didn't lodge an application ...he wouldn't ever get chosen...
He said on that follow up rant that he didn't ask to be selected, just that he expected to be based on his current practice form and prior experience.
I'll see if I can dig up the MA application thing...
I dunno, but you know how MA is when it comes to their stupid rules and late entries etc...
Motorcycling Australia (MA) is calling for applications from elite Australian motocross riders to join Australian team at the 2018 FIM Motocross of Nations (MXoN).
Often called the ‘Olympics of Motocross’, the infamous event often exceeds all hype with an electric atmosphere as capacity crowds cheer on their nation’s best. The FIM MXON is held at Redbud, United States of America on October 6-7, 2018.
MA is a long-time proud supporter of Australia’s national teams and will be providing financial and administrative support for the team again in 2018. Applicants are advised that there will be some rider contribution to costs required in 2018.
There are three classes available for riders to nominate for: MX1, MX2 and Open. Riders are advised that they can nominate for more than one class.
Please ensure you advise below exactly the class you are entering. There is no maximum age for the MX2 class.
Michael Byrne has been elected Australian Team Manager for the 2018 MXoN. More information on the event can be found at: http://redbudmxon.com/
It is anticipated that the time away will be approximately 7 days, with final details still to be confirmed.
Application forms for team rider positions are available to download here, and must be returned by COB Friday July 27, 2018.
Applications and enquiries should be addressed to:

You and your wife are a disgrace. I've never seen such self-entitled brats in my life. To whine and complain about not being selected at the MXoN after doing absolutely nothing to support your claim is nothing short of disgraceful.
Chad, you say that Hunter Lawrence would not be able to beat you around Red Bud? I laughed. Oh how I laughed. Yes, that's the same kid that went out and qualified P2 in MX2 yesterday. In reality, you wouldn't see which way he went. Do you think you could stay within 2 secs of Jorge Prado? No way. No how. In fact, I'd go as far to say you would barely scrape top 5 in Aus MX right now. I can't see Chad Reed going as fast as a Mitch Evans or a Caleb Ward at the end of 30 minutes. Those kids are animals. You know, like you were before you got rich and entitled.
You see Chad, posting up selfies of yourself after losing a few pounds (the ones you always gain in the off season because you can't be bothered staying in shape) and going on bike rides does not make you fit to race 30+2 outdoors. You can try to lie to us (and maybe yourself?) that you're in shape, but you would be nowhere near race fit. To get a spot racing the biggest motocross race of the year would, I don't know, just taking a stab here, maybe require you to race motocross?
And your machinery? What did you think you were going to ride? Everyone knows you blame your equipment. You whine, bitch, complain and smear your opinions all over media whilst driving mechanics and suspension techs nuts with your endless stupid changes. They all know, mate. They all know you're just not fast any more. You don't have options any more. You've scorched everyone. There's plenty of kids that could ride around your perceived issues with a motorcycle and do it for pennies.
And the missus and her empty threats. Maybe tell her to pipe down. Only hurts your career, or what's left of it. Do you think anyone in Australia gives a shit what she thinks? She morphed into a yank quicker than you did.
To Kirk Gibbs, Mitch Evans and Hunter Lawrence - get out there and pin it boys. You're ALL better than Chad Reed these days and you deserve your places. Stay humble and let your riding do the talking (not your insta posts).
