Yes, they are a few of them at the races. Both MX and Off Road races. I have raced mine in two MX races. I'm 56 and race in the Over 50 class. So far I have 4 holeshots and 3 moto wins.

You all can race your kiddie power wheels and think your bad ass but some of us know better. Also, some of us couldn't wait to grow up to be men and ride real bikes that shifted.

No man would ever be caught on an "automatic" bike. Well at least that's how it used to be.

It'll turn out to be an even bigger debacle than the stupity of four strokes.

I don't get it and l never will.

These two MX legends got an opportunity to ride an Alta at the AHRMA National in Houston last year. In their day they rode the best motocross bikes available in the world. Always riding the cutting edge of technology. They have also ridden today's most current bikes. After riding the Alta both of them were blown away. Wise only rode the parade lap. Stackable rode in a practice session. When he came in from his practice session, he asked if he could ride it in the next session. Both of them came off the bike with a huge smile. Isn't that the reason we ride?

But I get a smile from my two stroke on a hill climb. Or my 350 on the track when I’m riding half decent. Isn’t it relative?

Not buying the dudes complaining about maintenance. Oil and air filters are not a big deal and not time consuming. We also knew about them going in to the game. Check and adjusting valves Is also not a big deal like it was with first four stroke mc bikes.

The only argument I’m down with is the dude that said he could build a track and ride with out upsetting his neighbors where he can’t with the 450. I can get behind that

Has anyone ridden 2up on an Alta? How is the torque? I'm thinkin Alta sidecarcross. You could run extra batteries on the sidecar.

As soon as other manufacturers step up and release their own e-versions; No way the Big-6 allow it without having products of their own. Hoping this happens sooner than later, but history's against such forward thinking consumers...Side note 1: It will be interesting to see how the KTM model of electric 50cc equivalents plays out. Note 2: Can't wait to ride something like this from a major manufacturer (Mugen designed but hoping they lose the camo plastics for some sensible Honda red, leave the rear brake where it's supposed to be, and equip it with the same Kit suspension).

Wrenching on a bike is part the fun....It's already minimal with my YZ. Sometimes, I pretend to work on it to hide from the wife Evil

In all honesty, when they can be ridden all day then perhaps I think about purchasing one. I doubt it though. As it is now, buying an extra battery is like....years worth of fuel and oil for my bike. Changing a battery during a race doesn't sound like fun either. For weekend rides it would require multiple batteries and/or a generator. No thanks.

That thing appears to still have radiators and a crank cooling fan like a lawnmower, unless that is a blender to make Kool Aid with?

Maybe the Electricas should have a category, because that of competing with those that work with gasoline, is very complex.

I'm realizing a lot of Vitard's weren't even born when this pair of Steve's from TX were burning premix and they probably don't know who they are. So there's a clue. 1 hall of famer there.

I enjoy your appeal to authority and all but l simply offered my opinion.

I give no shits what anyone says. Especially some ex pro. I think all this crazinesss is a form of vitrue signaling.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with ICE powered moto bikes so none of this males any sense on it's face and all this is just pointless circle jerking. Exactly what problem are these things supposed to fix? Sound? That's it? I've gpt news for you, non rider enviromentalists give no fucks. They won't suddenly embrace the sport because all the sudden there are e-bikes. The law of unintended consquenses is immutable. And just wait until a day at the track is a $100 because of the upgrades and sudden electrical costs associated. Do any tracks currently offer free fuel? But they'll have to now.

Make an e series like F1 and let it stand alone and see where the public actually stands on this but trying your damdest to ruin the sport l love with glorified Power Wheels just pisses me off.

Again, just MY opinion.

First, enough people must actually purchase these bikes in numbers high enough to hurt the existing 4 stroke sales
the powers that be currently offer.

Then, the big manufacturers must actually believe and decide these are the future.

Then, they must decide how/if they can make enough money on the numbers they believe the public will actually buyto keep the factory doors open. The lack of maintance and parts needed to keep the juicer bikes going may play a big part in this decision.
I mean hey, if nobody needs pistons, valves, camshafts, heads, cylinders, transmissions bla bla bla, how they gonna make anything after the sale?

Then, they must design, retool, aquire the materials, deal with the patents crap.......

Then they need to get the rules changed,

10 years minimum.

Totally respect your opinion....

The reason I posted the pick of two of the toughest motocrosser's when men were men, was because of this comment from a previous post...

"Also, some of us couldn't wait to grow up to be men and ride real bikes that shifted.

No man would ever be caught on an "automatic" bike."

Those two were a man's man and after riding the Alta, they loved it. Just sayin'...

Just trying to educate, not preach. Didn't say there was anything wrong with ICE bikes. Alta was not created to save the environment. The lack of sound is just a by product of an electric motor. It was created with an electric moto to give the bike more instant power. Also as stated earlier, to work on it less and ride more.

As for the tracks offering free fuel for e bikes. There are some in Texas that have already installed 220 hook ups for e bikes for free.

Concerning the Alta having a single gear reduction. While it only has one gear, mode 1 is fairly tame, mode 2 has pretty decent acceleration, mode 3 pours it on even more and mode four definitely needs a man to handle to power delivery.

Again its not for everybody, and ICE bikes have nothing to worry about. But I will say this, everybody that I have seen take a demo ride on an Alta comes off the bike with a huge smile and isn't that why we ride. I'm not trying to force feed the "E bike craze" down people throat's. However, it would be interesting to hear the opinions of the skeptics after they took a test ride.

Go do a demo ride and tell me you've rode a gas bike that hooks up and goes like an Alta.

Environmentalists dont care if its quiet, but neighbors do...

Batteries are only going to get better. Tracks wont have to offer power when the battery lasts all day. Besides how many tracks already offer power because yall old dudes cant sleep without a king sized mattress and AC running all night. But yeah, electric bikes are gonna ruin the sport Grinning

Go to a demo ride, put it in map 4 and quit being a bitch.

This is easy to answer...as much as I love my 450 I really want to build a track on my property. We have 5 acres..(plenty for a track) but I have neighbors who dont want to hear my 450 turning laps all evening.. An Alta will allow me to ride anytime I want - no need to drive an hour one way to ride.

I am not pro-electric, or anti-ice..I really just want the convienance of being able to ride on my property!

It’s as simple as that...

For me a 2019 Alta will be my next bike and my skid steer is all ready to start building a track!

Wait for a ban on gas engines to get an e bike. We dont want this two stroke syndrome all over again.
7/29/2018 3:35pm Edited Date/Time 7/29/2018 3:37pm
I rode FOG25’s Alta today at our local MX track. I have 6 bikes in my garage (three 2-strokes and three 4-strokes) so im not in the market right now.
BUT... I was really surprised at how quick I felt at home on it. I did all the jumps on the 1st lap and it required a lot less energy than I thought it would. I’m really impressed with it and if I had room in my garage, I’d probably go get one. It will never replace my bikes, but it was super fun to ride. I’ll probably end up with one down the road. Hopefully they can get the battery life to last longer, so there’s no need to run a generator at the track, between rides. Other than that, I have no complaints !!

I think I'd be more inclined to want one if they had a clutch. Sometimes I like to be able to pop a wheelie going even slower than normal. I think I could dig the 'Sound of Silence' better than four strokes though!

I don’t know if it’s been stated yet but it will be a while before we see an Alta in the pro moto/sx and even LL for that matter. Sources from an Alta rep at a demo ride day told me the AMA won’t allow them to even race in LL nevermind pro due to the fact they don’t want the major brands to take an “L” if it became the future. So more than likely until we see a Jap or KTM/Husky dabble in it I don’t think we will see them for another 5+ years.

One Hall of Famer - and the other Bloody Well should be too!

Stackable was the last 500cc SX Champion, I think.

Good to see he's still around.

The Last: at least until the "Open Classers" - in the form of the 450 4ts - came back, under the radar of being allowed in the 250 class, and sheltered by Handicap Class rules.
