I'm having a real problem. Trying to squeeze out a few more maters before winter hits but I'm having a spider mite issue. I cannot get rid of these little orange fuckers. Need some help from the real farmers on here.

If you're really producing consumable food look into natural pesticides, there's a ton of organic options you can find on line, and most you can make on your own. I've done strawberries the past few years and haven't had many problems outdoors, but indoors you're going to run into way more issues with pest's or even molds.

P.s. Every time someone says " Growing tomatoes. " you might as well say weed.... lmao

Try dishwashing soap diluted in a old windex sprayer.

Chemicals are not doing the job. Even the hard core stuff. Going to try soap like hillbilly said. Sevin dust actually makes them multiply faster according to some of the stuff I read. The stuff I've been using lists spider mites but after doing some research I find out that the stuff kills off their natural predators. This is some weird shit.

Once a garden is infected with spider mites it is almost impossible to get rid of them. Start by removing any plants that are heavily infected. Make sure to weed your garden (by hand) tomatoes don't like the soil disturbed near them. It hurts small roots near surface which will make your plants susceptible to problems. If you must spray use Pyrethrum oil, it is made from chrysanthemums. Spray top and bottom of the leaves. The best way to prevent infestations of any kind is to watch your plants closely and remove pests early before you are over run. Always plant more plants then needed so you won't feel bad by sacrificing a few for the common good.

I will pull the plants as soon as this last batch ripens. I'll experiment until then.

The top pic shows the little bastards. The bottom pic shows the webs covered in dew.

Kill em all and start over after a healthy dose of avid. Seriously that's the only way to eleiminate them. Trust me ive been growing indoors since the 80's. Avid is expensive and worth it.

2nd day with the soap treatment. So far so good. Some things you trust hillbilly on..some you don't, like "take a shot of this, it's really smooth."

Hey, I can understand the problem you are facing with the spider mites. Trust me you should get rid of these mites asap, as these mites can get spread in no time within your garden area. There are many pest controllers like exterminator queens NY who may help you to get rid of these mites.

Even though I'm down in Georgia, I just called that pest control company. They're driving down tomorrow to take care of a wasp nest I got in my pump house. It's pretty expensive, so I need your credit card number. Thanks in advance.

I only got two mater plants in this year. I too, have a major pest problem. My 12 year old Granddaughter is eating them all. She did the same thing with the strawberries. Smile

My wife uses Neem Oil to kill and control those pests.

Maybe you should try this pest repeller. I use it when I go camping, works well on mosquitoes.

I know everything about spider mites unfortunately...if they're the little yellow ones with spots on your back, then your fucked. Make a nicotine spray out of cigarette butts, much like making sun tea. Filter it, spray tops and bottoms of entire leaves/ stems. Neem oil mixed with garlic/ onion team spray every 3 days switching from one to the other, so day 1 nicotine, day 3 been mix, day 6 nicotine., Been growing weed indoors for 10 years and they are a total nuesance, stay away from nasty pesticides, they work, but at what cost..?

Avid is nasty stuff, floromite also. Not saying it doesn't work wonders tho. And I only use it when plants are less than 6 inches tall (60 + days away from harvest)

My problem is that my tomato plants are outside. For some reason they do not recommend Avid or Floro on outdoor tomatoes. They wont say why. The little bastards are probably coming from next door. They almost murdered my cherry plant a week ago but I hit em with neem. I doubt I can ever kill all of them unless my neighbor lets me spray all of his shit too. I !@#$%ing hate these little bastards.

This has been a horrible year for tomatoes around here. Mine set early but nothing since. No one I know has any. Even the Arkansas tomatoes at Wal-Mart that are usually great...have been pithy and flavorless. It just ain't summer without good maters.Sad

A couple of years ago I came across some heirloom plants. They grew like crazy and set loads of the ugliest fruit you ever saw. BUT, they were hands down the best tasting tomatoes I ever put in my gob...perfect mix of peel, pith, seed, and acid. I think I sliced a few for sandwiches/burgers but most got eaten like an Apple. Sometimes ugly is a good thing.

Yeah, I got a pretty good early crop but nothing now. My screw up on the watering might have done it. The power went out and it reset the watering times on the control to 5 min instead of 45 min. It was like that for about 4 weeks. Plants look good now but the random maters look like they have cancer.

When we were in Vegas I tried ever way I could to grow some but they just burned up. Now back in Iowa I'm having better luck.

I grow peppers in a commercial greenhouse environment and use natural predators called californicus or persimilis to control spidermite areas. Persimilis work well and will eat adult spider mites and as soon as they hatch from eggs also. Only if we have to then we use Floramite to spray. This would work the same for tomatoes if it’s possible to buy those products where you are from.

Oils or soaps can work to some degree but can also kill any natural predators if you have added them in.

Farms growing commercial cannibis here are buying tons of persimilis to control spider mites as they cannot spray anything on those plants. Spider mites multiply fast in hot dry conditions.
