In 79, the barrel had a different intake port, mid year got the D-E-F ignition series, and I think cases had some additional reinforcement. Maybe a slightly different chain guide. Not much difference. Beautiful bikes, especially with those ally tanks.

The AW Maicos were pretty.

Any Spanish bike was a beaut as long as the glass stayed healthy. Had a GPII Phantom; fun bike.
Let us not forget the imfamous "claw action" tires that came on my 79 CR250R

The Italian Huskies are nice... but a Real Swedish Husqvarna knocked it out of the park !


Those 77' Maicos were dead sexy.


I guess if that's the era you started in, the bikes of the 70's will never be matched when it comes to bikes close to the heart.

Overall the Husky brand seems to have produced some really beautiful motorcycles, especially when they're compared to other brands of the same vintage.
The silver-tanked bikes were real elegant, the white ones from the 80's were really clean looking, and the latest bikes are downright sexy.

Maybe it's just me, but I certainly liked the Honda's with the red motors, as well as the Suzuki's with blue motors, it sure made them stand out against the crowd without being obnoxious like many of the early 90's bikes were.

Again, taste differ. But that 77 Maico, seriously? Looks like Quasimodo on wheels! Smile HVA 390 has some style. Looks potent still.

That's a 79.
I have a 78 250, but the frame is yellow. The guy who had it before me had it powdercoated yellow for some reason, and I haven't had the time to take it apart and make it red again!

I can't figure out why guys do that, and those horrid yellow seats they feel compelled to out on Maico projects. The bikes' clean original look is unbeatable.

This is the one that I used to dream of owning as a kid.
I had one of those they were so light 192 lbs and the suspension so good they just floated across the bumps.

My brother had a '79 250, which in appearances was very hard to differentiate from the 440 like the one in the photo here. Best cornering bike I ever rode, next best handling bike to the RM125X ever.

I remember sitting in school flicking through racer x, and seeing the advert for this bike. And my mate saying it was his dream bike.

A year later, my dad rolled one out of his van for me Whistling . Best looking stock bikes on the planet, imo.

Did they make this as an 80cc? It looks just like my friend's 80! We had a blast on that bike. I remember the day his dad brought it home for him, brand new. That bike was sweet. Good memories...
