Yeah, that's what she said....

Did anyone get a picture of the factory ktm? I don't know whether it's just the new 2019 design, but the header on marvs bike looked really long.

It's cool how ktm made the silencer wider so it doesn't stick so far out the back of the bike.

Is there gonna be a hangtown pit bits?

factory KTMs have been known to have a header pipe to suit the rider. All the weird bends and length you see to change the power characteristics. As for pit bits i assume its going to be delayed because ML is on the other side of the world testing the new KTMs

Check out Jeffrey Herlings bike. Like Bryce said, it’s for power characteristics.

Roczen's Honda has a pretty long header too. And it's sticking out pretty far to the side of the bike. Like the KTM/Akrapo solution better.

Here's a pic from MXA of Musqin's looong pipe. Looks like a 250 twostroke header..

Shorter = less bottom
Longer = More bottom

Or do I have that backwards?

Pit Bits, yes (tomorrow). ML testing new KTMs, not yet (that I know of).

It’s probably a bit hush but I know there’s a bunch of press that has gone to Italy for the KTM launch. Got word that there is an opportunity to ride the new bikes at this introduction. Follow this guy on social media and he’s a test rider for the magazine so it makes sense. I’m just assuming ML has gone but surely a member from vital would have been invited.

That’s correct on 4 strokes.

I would think he would want more bottom end in SX, no?

That’s what I thought too when he made that statement. I know that the longer tail pipes on 2 strokes give more torque and the shorter tail pipes is for more top end. That’s why you see longer pipes on the enduro 2 stroke models.

I found a secret spy photo of the latest advancement in 4 stroke pipe technology.
As research evolved they have discovered peak performance.

Long heater = more low end and tall gearing will keep the engine in lower rpm . Big advantage on rough track . The rear end of the bike will be more settled on acceleration over bumps .

I always though shorty on a two stroke was supposed to add a little more low end

That's what I thought as well. On the silencer that is. Way back there, we welded 'stingers' to the end of the pipe {no silencer} to get more top end. Maybe we just thought we were getting more top end! We got louder. That's a fact!

I've got three rides on this home built header. I printed pictures of the factory header and this was the end result. The bottom is now so fkn awesome!

On 2 strokes, shorty silencers are more bottom end. I think the longer silencers on off road bikes are because spark arresters and noise.

Anyone else noticed this on Marwin's SX bike? An extra frame bracing or something else?

Hey Tim, how much length did you add, and how did you come up with that number?

Does it feel.like it changed the mapping in any way?
