I bought the game and can’t get a win in the first race, even on medium... I know It’s a different game, but I could hold my own in MXGP3 on the toughest difficulty. Any tips on how to work this game? Controller tips, how to do the best scrubs. Should I turn preload off? Custom camera settings perhaps? How to corner is also an Issue I’m having.
I’m pretty much a noob, haha, haven’t owned a motorcycle in real life, but love motocross and understand how a bike works.
Also, I drive manual and changed the controller swttings to shift with L3 and R3 but using manual is proving difficult because I can’t hear my bike that well during a packed race. What should I do?
man...just keep playing. keep experimenting with settings and just keep playing. just like anything, you get better with time and if i listened to everything everyone told me about the game i probably wouldn’t like it. despite what you read, keep your tires all the way to the right. take advantage of the traction. do not turn clutch or preload off. use the second third person camera option. i forget if it’s chase or follow. it’s the second one tho when cycling through the views and remember you can customize the view using right and left bumper when you activate it in the options menu. use the clutch a lot, especially in turns and get used to just pulling the clutch in and coasting, the bike maintains a lot of speed when you pull the clutch in. you have to learn how the bike settings work. even if you keep your settings for “tires” in a specific setting, you have to realize that adjustments to suspension and other things will still effect the feel of the steering. look at the numbers to the right of the bars to see what’s doing what when you’re moving. slam everything to the right except your suspension, make that a little softer and adjust to the way you like it. idc what anyone else says lol. when you land off jumps lean back and let out the clutch. like i said the boost is useful but so is just pulling in the clutch when you’re not gassing or breaking. sometimes you can just coast through sections. it takes some getting used to. to get used to whipping, on the face of the jump, turn left or right with the Right stick only and then adjust with the left stick in the air. this is a good way to learn whipping. the right stick leans the bike over on the face/off the jump and the left stick will help you bring it back and around. it will take time getting used to. go to a metal ramp, and slam the right stick only to the side and you’ll get an idea of how to start scrubbing. but honestly man, you only get good at the game by playing it. it really is cool how much this game has grown on me over time. just because the game feels the way it does to you now does not mean it will always be like that. anyone that’s fast, they all have one thing in common and it’s a lot of hours invested.

play the “arenacross” tracks first instead of supercross and if sx is really frustrating you, go play the nationals. also, lean forward while cornering. accelerate down a straight before a corner and before you enter the corner, pull in the clutch and as you turn with the left stick push forward with the right stick and notice how fast you coast through the corner. over time you’ll learn when to gas in the corner and when to use clutch. alao take advantage of the free ride tracks, go play around to get used to how the bike feels.

these are just my opinions and others do it differently but that’s what’s kinda cool. also, i would advise using button shifting. but that’s just what works for me. and you don’t have to preload off everything.

Honestly, despite them sponsoring the track maps, I'd be surprised to see them do outdoor replicas. Though I would love it.

But if they were going to do it I think we'd get the same treatment by releasing it before the races like they did with SX. And also we should see them promoting it either now or next week. Couple that with Michael saying he didn't think there would be outdoor replicas then I guess I'm highly doubtful.

I would never be happier to be wrong though and I hope Mike and the boys put some great replica MX tracks into what I think could be possibly their best game yet.

Been spending some time working on settings and started messing with the Exhaust slider and wow!!! Totally changes everthing in regards to handling.. Left of center is like slow motion and floating in the air, easily jumps all big lines.. Right of center is hyper sensitive but stuck to the ground can't jump hardly anything. I didn't remember seeing it before but I dunno..

I have the same problems. I'm usually decent on racing games but this one has given me the fits. I did the waypoint races first and won all but one of those in the first series so I jumped into MX and promptly got smoked. I get eaten up in the corners. Like others have said I guess I will just have to keep after it.

Got this earlier today, would be nice to have a online stat on at the race results, like in GTA where its 500 wins and 430 losses or something like that, to see how you fare against others

you get an exhaust option when you buy the Procircuit dual T-6 that has the 3 stages of “unlock” none of the other pipes give you the exhaust tuning option. when you tune the exhaust tho none of the stats change and no matter where i put the slider, when i go back after riding its right back in the center. i think it’s a glitch. is anyone else’s slider staying where you put it?

Lol.. That's funny! Yeah makes a big difference for sure. Glad you figured out it's just a Honda, Pro Circuit Exhaust thing. I like the adjustability, takes time to figure it out though.

Agreed. Feels like a smoothed out 1.04. I’m pretty happy so far.

Thanks everyone for writing up the tips and stuff. Been reading this thread since the early days and I always come back to this one. Found it by accident too.
Thanks Holtergeist and PTG you’re really setting my mind up to go and try again. Awesome stuff in your posts!

Another update another complete change to the physics.

Traction slider all the way to the right and the bike slides around alot now. Not a fan of that but others here will be. Clutch feels like it slows the bike down and takes off sluggishly after using it. No point having it now. But its instinct to use snd it just bogs the bike fown when i do.

Really wish the updates would stop making such huge changes to physics. The changes are not necessarily better. It just makes the game harder as you need to get used to the tweaks.

My game plays much smoother now which is good. I loved the gameplay (aside from UTVs) from day one. Just hated the bloody slideshow performance in events.

The only mode I've been running is the time trial with the ghost. The new updates have really made me start liking this game. Last night I was running Anaheim in time trial racing my ghost and finally looked up and it said I did 52 laps. It's so hard to hit the big quad quad but I don't think it's really a time saver. I went into the corner one time neck and neck with my ghost that did the quad quad and just did the section regular and came out just a hair ahead. It's awesome being able to compare what's faster.

Do you have crazy ass graphic glitches?

In a fair few supercross tracks i have black screen tears. Half the screen can turn black for a second here and there. Hard to explain but if you get them you'll understqnd what I mean.

Has happened on every version for me. On 2 different Xboxes. One S and One X. Just doing time trials on San Diego and it does it a few times each lap.

Im guessing it happens to everyone given it does it on both my consoles.but I hsvrnt seen it mentioned by people here

You're quite welcome. I try to take an analytical and objective approach to my critiques and descriptions of game behavior (probably because I'm an engineer). I'm really liking the feel after this latest patch. What is weird is, the controller lag still feels like it is there when I test it, but when I just forget about it and play, I'm not really having any of the negative effects I was getting on 1.05. I'm not sure exactly why that is, but I'm happy. I was really scrubbing a lot in supercross in 1.04, and 1.05 ruined that. 1.06 is actually better than 1.04 in that regard, at least for me. I'm glad they are working on making the game better. It still has its issues, but I am having fun.

I'm digging 1.06! It seems to be a balance of. 04 and. 05.. Definitely more enjoyable and I don't have an issue running consistent laps like in. 05. Totally a step in the right direction!

Yes i find scrubbing much more fluent/realistic with this patch, especially in first person.. keep it up!

I’m about to get 3 DLC bikes and since I don’t ride IRL I am completely lost on which bikes would be cool to hwve. I’d like to have 2 2-strokes and a 4-stroke. Which are the best looking and sounding ones?
Also, can you put the T6 exhaust on any DLC bike?
