2016 yz125 exhaust

So I have a all stock yz125. it has 10 hours on it, and im planning on getting a after market complete exhaust. Performance is not really a problem, I got enough power with the stock exhaust. So what Im looking for is that good ear porn two stroke sound, that you wont quite get with the stock pipe. So should I go for FMF, Pro Circuit or some other brand that i havent heard of? I dont care about the loudness (ofcourse I dont want a quiet bike), but there is no sound checks or anything where i race. Also, if you own one of these pipes on a 125, what did you do to the jetting? Thanks for any answer :D

Cant recommend a pipe as the stock always worked great on my 125, I will add that a muffler repack can bring a more crisp sound.

My Bad the R-304 is definitely the shorty. You want just the 304. Just checked the PC website, sorry about that.

Thanks alot! Smile But I just gotta make sure of some things. 1. when u said you clean it very good when you work on the top end, do you mean you clean the inside of it? Not sure if that is something you do, I never did it. 2. The silencer we are talking about is called "Pro Circuit - 2-stroke Std 304 Stainless Silencer - Yamaha" on BTO Sports.com. On pro circuit`s website it doesnt have Std in the name. Is it the same one you think? 3. Do you think the small dents that comes from rocks are more visible on the Platinum pipe cause of the "shiny-ness"? If so, im getting the works pipe. Because i dont have alot of money and this is probably the only pipe I will buy. I just checked BTO, yeah thats the one you are looking for. I'm not sure about the dents, I actually think the works pipes might dent a little easier because they aren't nickle plated but I can't say for sure. When I take the pipe off to clean it I just do the outside. Even if you keep up on it after everyride with WD40 there will be spots that you can't reach. Naval Jelly strips all the rust off, its a little toxic so wear gloves. It will take it down to bare metal.

You could also call your local dealer and order a HGS pipe + silencer. Sounds great and has really good performance.

Yes I had the HGS pipe without the silencer on my 2014 yz125, but that is just because i bent my stock pipe and i got the HGS pipe for free (used). Ordering Pro Circuit from USA would cost me 505$ in total (including taxes and shipping).
And ordering HGS from agmshop which is my local dealer would cost me 506$ (including taxes, not shipping).
So im not really sure, I think i will go for Pro Circuit just because its more known and looks good haha. Smile

Yes I had the HGS pipe without the silencer on my 2014 yz125, but that is just because i bent my stock pipe and i got the HGS pipe for free (used). Ordering Pro Circuit from USA would cost me 505$ in total (including taxes and shipping).

Better bottom and mid with more over-rev than other pipes. If I didn't go with HGS I would go with Bills. They use HGS as the benchmark.

I was having a conversation with a friend the other day about 2 stroke pipes. I was wondering if brands like FMF and PC have kept up the R&D on their 2 stroke line? The big money is obviously in 4 stroke exhaust, I see what those guy pay. With that being said it makes sense that HGS would build a better pipe if they are currently trying to improve their 2 stroke pipes.

HGS is what most people in Norway use, but i guess that is just because it is easier to get. FMF and Pro Circuit has to be ordered from USA. I have been looking at some videos of bills pipes, also their segment in Moto 7. They look pretty good, and I really want that cone look, but its +125$ and the pipe is expensive enough as it is Tongue

bills

all sound amazing, its pretty hard to beat the stock pipe but pc and bills are my top choice for pipes

To be dead honest with you the absolute best pipe/silencer combo for a yz 125 is bone stoke, but just modifying the silencer a little bit, I say this with lots and lots of experience being around the old factory yz 125s of the Yamaha of Troy days, keep the stock pipe and cut the stock silencer down 5 inches re rivet it together with Yamaha packing, a set of force reeds and jet it properly and it will absolutely scream!!!

Yep, I love the stock pipe, planned on keeping it ugliness and all, but heard the bike does improve with a shorty silencer, ordered a pc r304, wanted to get guys opinions on it. Thanks!

If you want to pretty up the stock pipe here is mine after using an angle grinder with wire brush attachment. Just use inox to keep the rust off, works better than wd40

I saw this picture of Pingree`s YZ125 that he used in the Dream Race at Washougal. This has a HGS pipe (not sure about the silencer, but i guess its HGS?). Im from 99, and I dont know what factory rides used back in the late 80`s/early 90`s. So I dont know if he used HGS on it for the full retro look, or the power. Anyways here`s the picture. And btw, that "modified" stock pipe looks pretty good Smile

Looks like a BUD HGS with a BUD Carbon Silencer. They did not run HGS on the factory Yamahas.

Pretty sure that the BUD HGS is a HGS pipe with an additional BUD stamp on it.

PC Factory sound 304, best sounding and performing silencer on a yz125 Imo! Shorty does not rev out like the slightly longer 304 factory sound.

I had great luck with this setup on my '05 YZ125 (practically the same bike):

FMF Fatty pipe / Shorty silencer
V-Force reeds
ported cylinder / milled head
Jetted spot-on for my altitude.

That bike didn't even bark... it "Ark"ed. No "Bah" at all.

DPR exhaust 225 euro. Combo with a PC silencer is working great.
