It is with a heavy heart that Warthog Racing announces the retirement of Eric Sorby from full-time racing. Eric, who answers to the nickname of “Soreballs”, has been a favorite of both Warthog Racing and the fans alike, as he always left everything he had on the track. Known for his “take no prisoners” riding style, Eric has been racing in the US since 2002, this after winning the French Supercross Championship in 2001. During his career in the US, he rode for the world-famous Pro Circuit team, he regularly made the podium in the Lites class, and he made more main events in the Supercross class than anyone can count. He even led many laps of main events in the Supercross class, an accomplishment that only a handful of riders can claim. Eric was always fun to talk to in the pits and wholeheartedly supported the Warthog Racing program from the beginning. The sport will miss Eric Sorby without a doubt. A tip of the Warthog’s tusk to Eric “Soreballs” Sorby. So next time you do a tank slapper and wonder if you can still sire children, remember the French phenomenon named “Soreballs” that gave it all he had to excel in the World’s best motorsport.

I don't care what anyone says, I liked the guy, and he was fun over in Europe when him and all the other French riders would start talking shit and getting loud, it was funny.

More riders need to be more aggressive, like Eric, and stop being passive pussies "waiting for an opportunity"

Like it or not, Eric gave a shit and tried, tried hard, and left it all on the track, good or bad.

I'm not sure I would call that being aggressive. Slowing up to take the guy out whose behind you is the sign of a spode. at least to me.

I like him. He goes for it. It never seemed to be personal with him, he would always just try really hard to keep guys behind him. Sorby is just out of his time in this pussy era of MX.

There is a difference between being aggressive and kamakazie t-boneing people and slowing down to get another shot at taking people out. It went beyond an adrenalyn thing or even giving it his all. He went out of his way to put other riders in danger on a consistent basis. Good riddance.

The guy always made things exciting; whether it was his aggressive riding or nac nacs over the triples, if Sorby was in the race he was a guy you wanted to watch. Hate him or love him, he had flavor. I'm pretty tired of the same old bland taste, and Sorby was definitely not that!

You guys with your Sorby salutes must be talking about a different guy. The Sorby that I've seen is on most occasions a complete and utter danger to everyone on the track.

Of course, he typically picked on privateers in practice because he knew he wouldn't be called out as often. When he did knock over one of the faster guys, they typically caught him back and parked him.

That's the guy I know. On more then a few occasions someone had to talk to him about cutting the tracks.

It is obvious that fitness is what has been killing him. Look at the photo above. He definitely has a huge gut. He was really fun to watch when he was riding for Mitch. After that I think he got lazy on the training aspect of racing. Good luck to him in whatever he does now.

I personally do not think he brought much of anything to our sport.

Flavor? Nah. I'd rather see 20 "bland" RACERS that WORK HARD and give it their all with hard work, FITNESS and dedication.

All I can recall of him was a roadblock and a danger to others. Thats not the "flavor" I want to see.

Eric was the coolest off the track. Almost everyone that spends time with him loves him. He is a good person, really.

On the track, he definitely released the beast, that's just the way he was. Most of his take-out maneuvers were in turns at slow speeds. I don't recall him seriously injuring anyone, though I could be wrong. He didn't do things like land on other riders off jumps, which I have seen plenty of other riders do, either recklessly or through stupidity. Eric was an aggressive racer for sure and he gave the fans what they came to see -- hard fought racing. I can't fault him for that.

Good luck Eric in all you do in the future.

I guess you guys probably didn't like Bradshaw or the Chicken much either. If all you want to see is fitness why don't you watch Worlds strongest man or something. I watch to see good racing, talented riders, and unpredictable excitement.

That's one of the poorest comparisons I've seen in a while. Bradshaw and Chicken were fighting for top 5s and wins. Sorby was fighting for top 5 in LCQs and bashing anyone who caught him. The Sorby I saw at Houston is a guy who should have been suspended by the AMA. He intentionally hit and tried to clean out everyone who passed him. He tried more than once to ride straight though guys in the first turn, letting them by just so he could cheap-shot. That shit belongs in a backyard on 50s. Not in one of the most dangerous professional sports.
