If so, what round? Does he finish the season, or take the record for career starts, then ride off into the sunset? He really has nothing...

He really has nothing to prove, and it can’t be any fun for a rider with his pedigree to be getting smoked every weekend.
Racing scooters is still fun no matter what place yer in.
Maybe he'll go the rodney Smith route.

I think he will podium. By the end of the season if he stays healthy and all the other guys crash out he may even get a win...sounds crazy but he is a pretty gnarly guy when it comes down to it.

That would be awesome if he did.

I think of all the guys that have finished ahead of Chad this year, if you asked them, "Would you trade, where your finishing now, for the career that Chad Reed has had, and the money he's got, if you had to retire today?",10 out of 15 would say yes.

He might if the heavy hitters keep dropping like flies. I'm a fan. I like loracco. I like that Chad's accomplishing the start record. My kid MIGHT see someone else break that record if shes lucky. Has Chad ever gotten really screwed up other than on his Honda during sx? Drawing a blank but dont recall that he has. Also impressive.
nobody will ever break this record. Its a different sport now and certainly not in the 450 class alone.

I believe a top 10 is coming in the next 3-5 rounds. A top 5 is possible by the end of the season. He has said several times that he plans on racing SX in 2019.

I say he gets a top 10, grabs the start record, finishes the year and comes back next year fully prepared.
I'll go with this !

Yes, I think he will. He seems to be improving each race. With the attrition rate, by the Vegas he will be there!

Reed lacks fitness but clearly has speed in reserve. Last week, his main event best time was over a second faster than qualifying. None of the top guys improved their time significantly while most times fell off in the Main.

He’s gonna have to dig deep if he makes it happen in Dallas.

I was laughing last week, worst quali best race.. So typical Reed haha

I think Reed could still win a race if he had some luck....this is assuming he gets his fitness back which is the big question mark at this time. I'm not sure if the ole' chap is willing to put in the training required to be up front with the young bucks...

The way I see it, with Reed qualifying just out of the top twenty, he is doing no different to what you would see from McGrath or Carmichael if they ran qualifying. In terms of racing, I'm sure their results would be not quite as good as what Chad has achieved but very close if they seriously got back into training. But why would they? Why would they bother? Why would they put their lives on the line given their current lifestyle and racing status? Which raises the question why is Chad bothering. I would imagine he has a very clear vision of seeing himself out front and winning. Look at the great start he got last week. But when it comes to putting your neck on the line trying a dangerous rhythm combo or just pushing for that extra 10th in a corner, I think somewhere inside his head he's asking "Why bother?"

His fitness may be down but still managed too long his fastest lap of the main on lap 20, I’m not sure it is all the ankle that is holding him back I’m sure if he had some of the factory stuff that Wilson and Anderson have on their bikes then he would be a title further towards the top

He should announce his retirement now. Going into next weekend and riding more main events uncompetively is embarrassing. His results appear to be going backwards. Don’t let your legacy be the the most main events rolling around in 15th Chad. Turn up next week, announce the retirement and do the opening ceremony as a farewell and bow out.

Idiocy (i’ll spell it right) how? The guy started the series injured and his results are getting worse.

Last week with a few main contenders out he still had a bad result.

You can disagree but my opinion is neither idiocy or ‘idocy’

I can’t see reed sniffing a top 10, if any thing his results are getting worse, add a Roczen, Grant, Barca in tonight’s race and Reed would have been an 18th place rider, even Chisolm straight up smoked him

He's buying this time for next week. You watch his results jump after that. No fucking way he's risking hurting himself so close to the record

Anyone know who the top privateer is?

Thats right Chad Reed in 14th. People are forgetting he's a privateer.

To be top privateer coming off the couch at the age of 35 is incredible.

He's got a long way to go fitness wise but once that is figured out he will be right in the hunt for podiums and a top 10 overall.
