Just when a man thinks he has it all......
Stay humble, BillyP, stay humble.
how he got into that situation
1) Higher education dosen’t necessarily constitute common sense
2) The internet is a cesspool for trolls
Props to Hanny, awesome to see our sport giving back.
...I don't know, that timing may be off. But, either way, good on Hanny for sammich delivery.
Whatever college you went to, I’d ask for a refund. In the meantime, stick to topics you have logical arguments to.
MAKE VITAL SMART AGAIN!!

That homeless camp is a fuggin mess. I’m sure there are a lot of different stories in that shithole and I hope the ones that are not there by choice can find a way to get back in their feet. Some of them are there because that’s all they want out of life. I just wish Cal would use some of that bullshit gas/registration tax or a small part of the billions they will be bringing in for the reefer and build some shelters for these people and try and get them enlisted in some kind of work program.
More times than not it’s avoidable and those that don’t really have a choice is evident (disability) and a much smaller number than what we see...
Good on Hanny though! Thats how I give, directly with goods not money.
Those that have empathy for them, like our guy Hanny, may deliver the sandwich that brings a homeless person forward with a new attitude and approach to life...or may just get him through the day...either way it's a win.
You can't give empathy, you have it or you don't...lack of empathy isn't a character flaw either, however it may be that one has never been down and out so there is no reference point or ability to put yourself in someone else shoes.
Bobby hit it when he said, there but for the grace of God go I. We're some lucky bastards some of us. I know I am.
People like you are so irritating. You fail to give any reasoning or may I say? LOGIC, to your arguments and instead try to pass the focus on to petty little mistakes in my comments in an attempt to invalidate my opinion. All you do is make yourself seem like an A-hole and ruin an otherwise fairly intellectual and respectful debate.
2nd. You ask a question. You asked for someone to "please educate you" ... Multiple people "educate you", which is what you asked for. Then you respond with ignorant statements like "So he choose to be homeless and is content. Doesn't sound like he needs help".
In what way does that show you have an interest in learning something?
Edit: I didn't answer your second question. What keeps a homeless person homeless other than their own aspirations is jail. It is illegal for a homeless person to be sleeping on public property. They have to do things like urinate in public. They get in fights to protect their territory. They use drugs to numb the pain of hunger. Sooner or later they get put in jail for an offense which is time they cant be working toward a job.
2. No one wants to hire an obviously homeless person. And as much as you'd like to think they have closets to put their suits in for job interviews... well... Maybe you still think they have those under bridges.
3. Being unqualified for current positions due to a changed workplace environment, a reason some people get fired, and as I'm sure you probably cant understand, flipping burgers at mcdonalds won't pay for many home situations.
Now. I'm sure, if you're stupid enough to read this, which wouldn't be surprising, you will have a rebuttal. That's fine. Cause all of this is going to get deleted. And with that being said....
Go Hanny. You rock for doing what you did and feeding those people. I'm sure you impacted their lives and maybe gave some of them the energy to go out and get a job working at Apple in the corporate offices.. Because miracles happen every day. And because sandwiches give your body energy to do the things.
"lack of empathy isn't a character flaw either, however it may be that one has never been down and out so there is no reference point or ability to put yourself in someone else shoes."
I'm going to say it is a flaw though as empathy brings the community/civilisation up as a whole.
Billy P, you have obviously been blessed with the parents and upbringing you got. Some aren't so lucky. Say you were born to a non-white single mother in a shit neighbourhood who's had to do what ever it took just to feed you and the rest and got a boyfriend move in with you and he sexually assalts you from a young age growing up? And castrates you mentally so you wont tell his dirty little secret. Who's going to teach you those things in life about getting ahead if they don't know themselves. How you going to have a positive attitude in life when mother went to work, so did her boyfriend on you?
Bet you went to church and everything and never took heed of some of the messages. Or you went to one of those chuches which are all about money, not faith.
You really need to get out of the gated community you seem to live and as said here, get down and talk to some of these folk. You might be supprised where these people fell from and sometimes in life, multiple hits keep knocking you down to the point of "why the fuck?"
If you don't want to leave the confines of your castle and AC, here's a really interesting TV series to watch if you dare that takes actually born wealthy and self made people and puts them on the streets with just a change of clothes from a thrift shop. Most of the people in the show had your attitude. It's quite shocking some of the outcomes.

What does color have to do with it? I would say the majority of the homeless here in San Diego are white
