Yamaha's R1M is pretty damn awesome.

And Honda did offer a customer version of the RCV.

Kinda weird, but super awesome to see so many race bikes available to the consumer these days. I want that Aprilia soooooo badly.

The RCV you mentioned and Desmosedici RR are bikes you can buy with actual MotoGP tech. The R1M is just a streetbike with some golden goodies (not even close to MotoGP tech).

Aprilia is a strange story, I see why you want one.
Closer to wsbk but at a test combining wsbk privateer motogp this year some of the wsbk were quicker. Haha

Huh?

I guess it depends on how you judge success.

The bike is regularly now qualifying in the top 12. To do so in just it's first year is massively impressive.

And in the last few races the bike is now starting to run in the 2nd group up front. Their development pace has been incredible. I think the bike is BETTER than the guys riding it.

I'd say the bike is going to be capable of winning races by the end of the year. All it will need is MM93 or another win capable rider on it and KTM will be in the championship hunt and there to stay. They aint fucking around.

And like you implied, I fully expect them to make a run at MM93 the next time he is available.

What? This season has been hugely successful considering that it's their first year doing it. They have already surpassed Suzuki.

Espargaro is putting in solid results all the time. Smith has been really bad all season long but that isn't the bikes fould,
he seems to struggle with the Michelines(looks better now), Kallio showed that they've come a very long way with the bike.

I do agree with the Marquez theory. Next year is Marquez last year on the Honda deal. I would be very surprised if Red Bull and KTM doesn't offer him a huge contract for 2019->

I read that same article that explained it was the Michelines that were the root issue with Bradley Smith. And while it made perfect sense, Ive had another theory...

The Brits dont do well under pressure.

Examples...

Cal Crutchlow goes to factory Ducati (a notorious pressure cooker of a atmosphere that chews even tough riders up)
Cal goes to LCR. His results improve and then dip during his contract years. Every time he gets an extension, his results drastically improve, winning races even. I was convinced he's one of those rare riders that doesnt need motivation. He does better when he's allowed to be at peace.

Scott Redding? Same thing. Last year when he and Petrucci were competing for who would receive the GP17 this year, he folded horribly. Then this year starts (a contract year) and he was struggling all season until he signed his factory contract with Aprilia for 2018. How do you explain that his results have drastically improved since then despite getting no effort from his team knowing that he's on his way out.

Then there is Bradley Smith. his results have been garbage all year. He's has had Mika Kallio all over him this season. KTM would prefer to demote Smith next year and promote Mika. Smith's agent is damn good tho and held KTM to the fire. The moment KTM finally announce that Smith's position on the team next year is secured, low and behold, his results start to improve drastically overnight.

Interesting trend is it not?

The RC16 customer bike is not available. Yet.

Seems some are writing here as you can go out and get one now. Not the case.

But, I don't doubt that all 100 proposed bikes are already spoken for, or will be within a day or two, or even hours after they are put up 'for sale'.

There's a lot of people out there that 120 + Euro is but small change for. Honda's RCV213S (I think it's called) shows that, and the years ago Desmosedici. And other high priced / high spec limited editions.

Me, I've been genuinely thinking of selling a few things, and getting a Suter MMX 675 - but then, I remember my legs bend (barely) to only 90 degrees. I'm never going to be that Twat that buys a bike just to look at.

The perils of owning an 'exotic' : https://youtu.be/MdarVvVZppg

I think this was the bike tested by Performance Bikes last year on the IOM. I was on the Island and word got around in a heartbeat. It was said to be 'technically' a write off, but I think the owner ( a retired plumber / tradesman, I think?) just said he'd get the parts. Scuffed / dinged frame and / or swingarm, scuffed paint, a couple of 'pinged off ' bits - the sort of thing that happens when a bike comes off it's stand, but the prices!!!)

eh? They have a few top 10 finishes in their first season. Last race both KTM's got in Q2 and both got a top 10 finish. Espargaró even got a 2nd row start....

If that ain't succesfull then I don't know what is. They seem to be far more ahead in development then most expected.

Yes - so basic a thing to happen - but certainly, a thing of Nightmares for an owner and enthusiasts of such exotica. Oh, and the owner of the BM , or whoever knocked it over, onto the RCV213S.

Marquez isn’t going to ditch Honda for a KTM, he knows there are only 2 competitive rides in MotoGp. Honda and Yamaha. The Ducati is making progress but they lack front end feel and Marquez punishes the front of his bike. If he wants to win another championship he won’t ride the KTM anytime soon.

I love the bike and I hope they get more competitive, but it isn’t going to happen even with Red Bull money. He would have a better shot on the Suzuki, it has a great chassis but a slow motor. I think he would really like the Yamaha, everybody on them goes good on them. Good chassis good motor. I say he resigns with Honda and get Vinales as his teammate. That would be epic.

A MotoGP bike on the road (or close to it) would probably be an absolute nightmare....but I would still love one. Can't imagine what the servicing schedule/cost would be like, then again, I would be surprised if any of the ones sold actually see regular use.

yeah Marquez hasnt got the balls to do it , like Rossi left Honda for Yamaha .He wont leave Honda as long as he is winning

Went to the GP at COTA earlier this year. Those KTMs are so fricken loud and have a unique sound.
100% agree. Same with the ducati gp bikes, you can always tell when they're coming.
