I can actually see some positives to having your girl at the race or at practice. It can be counter productive to continue to be sheltered so much. Coop isn't a 15 year old kid anymore who needs to focus every moment on racing. To do so could be a negative at this point. He's a champion and a made man so to speak. Nothing wrong with having a significant other at the track. To think otherwise is nonsense. Every other sport has wives, girlfriends, and even kids at the games. Why should motorcycle racing be different?
Sure, he needs to be focused. But having familiar faces around can help that. If your wife or significant other is your best friend wouldn't you feel more comfortable having your best friend around? Maybe maybe not. Everyone is different but to say it has to be a certain sheltered way is complete crap.
And I don't really buy your last sentence how it would be difficult having a girl at the track who has been with someone else.

Had a girl that rode dirt bikes, horses, went camping. Took her to the races a few times, too much distraction, racing is serious business even in the 125 novice class. My Dad was always my best racing companion.

There are more top athletes with wives and girlfriends at the games then not. And a lot of these athletes have kids too.
One could argue that Dungey's wife (then girlfriend) had a bigger positive impact late in his career then Aldon ever did. And I bet Dungey would agree.
