In the manual it says to move the kickstart down until it stops and kick from there. Why is that? I found i can start it easier from the top

Youre supposed to kick from the bottom. In fact its a little known secret that its easier to start a bike with your left leg (sitting on the bike backwards)

to get on compression stroke. the idea is that the compression (after TDC) will help you build momentum before the next compression stroke, and to get a full charge on that very next combustion event.

What they are really trying to tell you is that you need to get it close to TDC & then kick it from the top of the kick starter stroke!

It works better if you used the kick starter to push the piston just passed top dead center & then kick it, It helps the flywheel mass get moving & pick up some piston speed.

If you don't do it this way on an old big bore 2 stroke it will bit you bad when it kicks back!

I don't think that's a great idea. Next thing you know he'll be back to ask if he should feed it dry or wet food, what kind of bowl is best, how to put food in said bowl, etc. by the time he's done asking questions the poor cat will have died of hunger.

Mavbro's got a point, Henbro. He'll wanna know if he should walk the cat with a leash, how to wash the cat, how to dry the cat, how to worm the cat, on and on.

Yeah but what if the battery goes dead, what kind of battery do I need (double AA's, triple AAA's, etc.) the guy at the battery store doesn't, will it melt in the hot sun, can I wash my bike with water or will the battery corrode, where is the battery located, can I plug the battery in a normal outlet found in the house or do I have to plug it in the transformer at the end of my street, etc.

It's a never ending list fellas.

It is actually a pretty short list. Push the button and go. If the bike is going to sit for 2 months or so, put a good quality battery tender on it.

My 250f Kawi would start no matter what....just kick that baby like a two stroke and it did not matter.....and it had a carb.

Guys......a cat is much too ferocious. In fact most cats will whoop a dogs ass and we're trying to lock Dumass.....or I mean Tomoss in a room with one? Tomoss needs a gerbil......in fact Tomoss can use a gerbil for many things to keep him entertained.

Thanks for the advice! Does it damage it if you kick it from the wrong place or is it just harder to start? Thanks

If you kick it from the wrong place, it will float a valve since you aren't at TDC and if it fires it will smash the piston into it and it will blow up.
