I am also going to Red Bud for the first time. Staying in Chicago by the airport, how long should it take to get to the track saturday morning? Going to see the Red hot chili peppers in Chicago friday night!!
It takes me about 3 hours and I love fairly close to O'Hare airport. It's a 2 hour drive but I allowed for traffic and parking and getting in etc. I think I left at 8am last year (remembering there is a time zone change)

Zip-tie your name and a contact number to your body, it'll help the sheriff's in their corral when they drag your blithering semi-consious ass down the hill.

you should of been there before the 90's. the biker gang flaggers, bathrooms that got exploded each year, giant bonfire in the back corner, that biker crew cruised the pits in a big cadilac with a couch bolted to the back trunk. random pro's would show up to your camp fire and shoot the shit with ya. definitely toned down nowadays.

Very true Dan, late 90's early 2000's was pretty crazy over there. Remember seeing Emig and J-Bone cruising thru on the golf cart, alot of team memebers crusing having a few beers. Thats why I wish they would bring back Sunday races and Saturday qualifying, alot more laid back enviornment and could interact with the racers more.

2009 was crazy like that. Michael Byrne, Jeff Emig, and Chad Reed were cruising the party pits late at night. This was the year Reed won the championship. There were some crazy redneck party inventions that I saw, lots of naked lady bits got exposed in exchange for beers, someone lit a truck on fire at some point. It was nuts.

No glass bottles!!!! Drove a 1/3 the way across the country to jump the leap and cased it. Sickest track you'll ever go to. Bring plenty of beer. If you're not a party animal DO NOT GET a B side wrist band! Best national you'll go to hands down!!!!

It's Usually hot and humid. Sunscreen and toilet paper can be considered survival items. I usually spent the few extra $ for preferred seating in one of the bleachers areas. We like the one that over looks the valley area after the start. you can see most of the track and if you sit at the top you can also see LaRocco's leap in the back although from a distance.
Redbud is an amazing place race track.
What's the TP for? For like pooping? That stuff isn't supplied?

As beeby mentioned above but worth mentioning again.

South Bend Indiana where there is a ton of hotels is in a different time zone than Red Bud...... so plan accordingly.

BTW I grew up 5 miles from Red Bud

You have much to learn! Of course the porta potties are supposed to have TP but there are a shit load of drunk people going nuts all weekend, so why bet the cleanliness of your butt on it being supplied? My personal favorite is individually wrapped baby wipes. Pocket full of those and you are set.
