Heres one for ya. They said that kids under 12 can not ride a motocross bike as there is lead in the frame. What is next? Kids can no longer ride in a vehicle as they have lead in them also. Give me a break. Since when it is ok to tell someone what our children can do. These law pushers need to get a life.
dl117: really, they are the ones that said it is not safe for kids to be in front.

They can only not purchase year 2009 models or any older models still on showroom floors.
If/when OEM's comply, then those models will be legal for sale.
Any models presently owned by the consumer can be used by the consumer.
They did not make the use of these vehicles illegal.

Because the manufacturers are now issuing these guidlines: we as promoters cannot allow a youth UNDER the age of 13 to participate for 2 reasons:
We are allowing someone to participate in a sactioned activity on a vehicle that has been determined by the manufacturer and the CPSC to be unsafe for that age level.
We are allowing someone to participate in a sactioned activity on a vehicle that the CPSC has determined is a toxic substance.
Also, consider the following as stated in same post:
MX Sports is considering removing youth classes from the Loretta Lynns program, GNCC, and ATV Nationals..
The AMA will be forced to ban youth riders under 13 from any AMA Amateur or pro competition due to legal ramification. The same will apply to local district and sactioning bodies .
Now, If That is not saying some kids cant ride. What does. Like the gentleman states. The youth classes make up 1/3 of the classes.

Riding and cruising in a car you don't own, is somehow safer than your parents owning and driving?
What if the kid decided to lick the battery post? Kids lick 9 volt batts all the time.
This whole rule is totally ridiculous. TEL is absorbed through the skin. We washed filters in leaded race fuel for years. No one died. No one got sick.

I got Jr riding the 450 now. He is gonna have a huge power to weight ratio advantage considering he's only 6 and weighs 40pds. Hey the kids gotta have something to ride.
I know I can't sell a used klx110 as of now.
