I feel bad for the kid, but yes he absolutely choked this one away not just last night, but week after week - in perhaps a previously unimaginable fashion, even for a guy like him known to not perform well under pressure.

Joey made his bed, now he has to lay in it

Pic reminds me of an episode of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"...

It's like the dude doesn't want to win a championship. I think the dude is super hard on himself, shows in his interviews on the podium. Does he benefit from training somewhere other than the GOAT farm or do you think there's no training out of that mentality

I think you're a little confused about where the farm is and who IS in charge there. Lol

As far as the waitress comment...., you shouldn't believe everything you read on Vital. There's more to the story and Joey wasn't the only one eating at hooters that day, it was a very large party and others played a big part in that whole fiasco. Not sure why Joey become the one everyone decided to rag on.

I don't know which would be worse, having to face Mitch or having to face Jeannie. Neither one would be much fun.
RC's comments were pretty spot on and was not in a sympathetic mood either. These people know how to win and thats it. Failure is not an option......period!!!

Yes I'm intrigued now, I feel like I've missed something big here. Is there a previous thread on the matter ?

Jesus Christ happened to Savatgy. Didn't you hear Osbourne thank Jesus for helping him take out Savatgy?

Crazy if he re-enters the track where he's supposed to he might be champion. All time choke job/meltdown though for sure. Hope he can recover from it. That's a tough one to take.

Its simple yall. If you look at who is the 2017 250sx Champion, it says Osborne and not Savatgy. That's why Savatgy didnt win last night.

To be fair to Joey (and I say this as a huge Osborne fan) it's a difficult situation to be in, and a difficult line to straddle between caution and aggression. His strategy almost worked... almost. Clearly he was too cautious, especially early on, and further compounded that with yet another costly time sapping mistake after the finish line. Even Adam was starting to factor back into the points. But I thought he looked much more stable and fast enough over the 2nd portion of the race to manage the situation just enough. From his calculations (and tbh, mine too) he probably couldn't see Zach being a factor from so far back. Too little too late he got wind of the danger and tried to recover via a successful pass on Mellross - and but for two corners would've been champ. Zach put in the ride of a lifetime though.

I really thought the same thing that he was completely unaware that Zach was there and then BAM!

Joey Versace is the Queen of SX. Kiss her hand. Her old frosty RC Honda hair is great!

There are probably about 10 different things you could point out and say "if he had done this or done that he would have won". In the race alone. There are so many reasons Savatgy shouldn't have been in the position he was in last night.

Jeff said it during the broadcast. He was in a good position from the first race, but just made too many mistakes along the way. As the 450 class shows, championships are won by being consistent and smart. Joey still has a bright future and I hope he applies the lessons that have been taught this year.

I think his head was elsewhere possibly crunching points and positions during the race instead of just focusing on the track and hitting his marks. I felt like he may have been telling himeslf under the helmet, "okay, Smith is down so now you only need to finish 10th or better", and he appeared to ride like he was in number crunching mode....meanwhile, Zach was on a mission and pulled off a miracle.

I feel bad for Savatgy but he's got no one to blame but himself on this one. No bad luck played into this debacle.
he was trying to slow down to bunch ZO and others up, bro

He went from one of the most improved riders a couple of years ago, to one of the biggest disappointments in SX this year. Judging by the comments RC was making, Joey doesn't have a legitimate excuse for his poor performance in Vegas. Another indication of how much of the sport is mental. Either that or he has a latent case of Epsteins Bar.lol

Does he have another year on his pro circuit contract or is it up at the end of this year. He starts strong but then goes in the tank at the end of the year.
