Depends on how Searle shapes up when he gets back. Still a long way to go.

Simpson broke his right hand in the second moto after crashing in the wave section and hitting a metal pole. He has surgery tomorrow.

Great. He got very lucky on that one, it looked horrible. I watched it delayed and immediately checked vital to see if he was ok, thanks for the update. It was one of the greatest weekends for racing but we saw some brutal crashes as well (i.e. Smith, Lieber, etc).

Just saw Gajser crash and wow that was a hard one. Never seen someones neckbrace blow off in a crash, either.. crazy.

How is it 26 overall? TC is the points leader and he only gained 12 points...

1. Gajser, Tim 234
8. Herlings, J.124 - 110

1. Cairoli, A. 258
7. Herlings, J.174 - 84

Was 110 down on the lead, now 84.

Is it me or does Kegums cause a lot of crashes every year?

What a weekend. The track sure did take out some people, especially the rollers wow.

Here's a little update on Simpson: http://www.shaunsimpson.com/broken-bones-in-latvia/

Good to hear it's nothing major with Gajser, i was worried there for some time.

Red plate to Cairoli! But as crazy as it sounds i am not counting Herlings out for the title just yet. If he starts stringing together these 1 - 1 scores he could close the 84 points!

Can't wait for Lommel the GP i'll attend Cool

Dominant weekend by JH84, fastest in free practice, time practice, qualifying race, warm up, moto 1 and moto 2.
Both motos by at least 13 seconds.

Looked a bit like his MX2 weekends Wink

Yeah that was scary. A bummer for the championship but on flip side he's lucky with what he got away with.

Track was very dangerous imo, a lot (and i mean A LOT) horrendous crashes and injuries troughout the weekend. Bad track prep or too much classes?

Gajser, Tonus, Simpson, Lupino, Seewer, Lieber, Van Doninck, Covington, Cervellin, Bernardini, Kouwenberg, Pichon... all went down (some more than once), and hard. A lot of them could've got a lot worse than they are now.

It is a long season to go. 7 GP's in, still 12 to go. Losing 25 points in moto 2 hurts, but Jonas will get some dnf's as well.

imo up till now the biggest difference seems to be that the KTM boys get a top 5 start every race (or so it looks like) while Seewer has work to do.

The track looked gnarly. Some of the high-speed sections were in really bad shape, especially from the two tabletops to the stepdown. That section is always tricky but it seemed even worse this year?

What happened to Rubini in EMX250? Injured or didn't qualify?
5/8/2017 9:55am
By the way, we've had 5 different winners in both classes, in 7 races. Pretty awesome
Cairoli, Gajser, Simpson, Herlings, Paulin
Jonass, Seewer, Olsen, Prado, Covington

And some potential winners haven't even won yet
Van Horebeek, Bobby, Nagl, Desalle, Febvre
Lieber, Paturel

Pretty cool...

Lotta traffic on the weekend, they prepped it different this year and the deeper rip and extra water left some tricky hardpack sections exposed when they dug through the top sand. If Herlings kept saying it was "gnarly" it had to be roughWink

I gotta say I thought that the wave section would cause some injuries from watching the first qualifying race and I was right. The waves are too deep for the speed they go in my view.

Don't get me wrong, I think all MX tracks should be tough to get around and have difficult/challenging sections but it was blindingly obvious the waves went beyond that and were dangerous.

It was clear that at least someone was going to get hurt and it's lucky there were no serious career ending injuries.

That wave section is high speed with gnarly ruts, should be changed up for next year. Maybe put in a tabletop or so.

That wave section has been there for years, Cairoli crashed and got injured in that section at the 2014 MXdN. I think the obstacle is fine but the waves has to be in better shape than that.

Those ruts were insane.

High speed section, waves with deep ruts and in a "corner"(i don't know what to call it but it's not a straight). It's a recipe for disaster.

Get the ruts out of that equation and there isn't a problem for these worldclass riders.
