I don't think we saw Dungey show any of the what looked like momentary throwing in the towel like ET showed last weekend. RD rode hard all season, last weekend was kind of disappointing for an ET fan with how slow he got up & going & finished the race after he went down.
Because he had the pointslead, regardless of what happend at the start of the season. He battled back in to the lead, and then gave it away again.
The brake issue is irrelevant, since all he had to do was stay in front of Dungey. If he lost the pointslead due to a mechanical it would be a totally different story. The brake issue he had at Dallas was probably out of his control, his performance at NJ was not. If he was the Tomac we've seen during most of the races he would still be in the lead.
But he wasn't, he lost the lead on his own. Just like Dungey lost the lead on his own when he couldn't get close to Tomac's speed.
Let's see what happens at Vegas*. Dungey might give it away to.
