I missed it, When did Dungey say he is retiring?

"Dungey is going to retire at the end of 2017"

"Dungey is going to retire and take over Roger's job at KTM"

" Dungey is......retire......."

I've been reading these statements in nearly every topic about RD. For the past couple years. When and where did Ryan say he is thinking about or is going to retire? I don't hang out in Dungey's inner circle, how does everyone know what he is planning? Just curious.

Just speculation based on his interviews.

If you were a healthy young millionaire, your name all over the record books and a hot ass wife would you keep living in a gym, busting out laps on track and traveling most of your time? HELL NO!

He earned this. Time for Ryan to enjoy his life.

Maybe. He enjoys traveling around with his hot ass wife. Riding his dirt bike and getting paid big .

Bullshit, he needs to race at least until he is 50. All this early retirement at 30 is pissing me off. Laughing

Maybe. Look at Chad Reed. He earned his millions and got his hot wife long ago. Yet he's still here. I'm not saying Dungey is going to keep racing like Reed, but just because it seems to make sense, doesn't mean that Ryan is retiring this year. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he did, but it's nothing more than speculation. Who's to say he doesn't enjoy his life? He probably didn't much enjoy those nine Saturdays where he got beat, but I'm guessing he's feeling pretty good right now.

If he wasn't STRONGLY considering it, he would've already signed his contract extension. I am sure there is pressure from both sides. His wife/family are most likely encouraging him to hang it up while he can still walk. While I am sure KTM wants to keep him racing and winning titles.

And whether we want to accept it or not, being Dungey is a JOB. Think about how hard it is to be at the top level like Dungey has been, basically his entire career. It's a job at the end of the day, even if we think of it as a hobby. A stress reliever. It is STRESSFUL to him. If I got rich off of my job, I certainly wouldn't keep doing it for the fun of it.

Musquin signed an extension...Dungey hasn't.

Roger said he will decide after Vegas.

Ryan said he doesn't know yet and he was going to take it year by year.

Didn't someone say that Dungey is doing some sort of press conference that he set up right before vegas?

Just curious. I understand all the good reasons. Just these guy's travel schedules would kill most normal humans. I was mostly wondering if he'd said anything about it. Or like TDeath21 said, "Mostly speculation"

He's done bros. Marvin signed already, KTM needs to know so they can hire someone new. You'd have heard about Dungey singing already. He's going home.

He desperately wants to start a family (his words) and he won't do it while racing (smart) so by all accounts it's over after the Outdoor season.

Its written all over his face, he's over it. He looks very 2014 Ryan Villopoto-esque. He's got nothing left to prove, he's not getting faster, or better, all that is left is to keep cashing checks and putting yourself through a meat grinder for 10 months out of the year. Bob Hannah said the guys who have the toughest time retiring and letting go are the ones who aren't happy with what they've done in their career.

X2. I don't know him, doubt many if any here do but the guy seems to have a bright future after this successful career he has had racing so far. If money isn't an issue, why not plant the seed and have some little Dungeys running around while living a peaceful normal life. Nothing but respect for the guy. I love the way he keeps his shit professional and doesn't flip his shit till out of camera sight.

What impresses me most, is how DeCoster has handled this schedule. Working 50-60 hours full time and trying to cram in a busy travel filled weekend tears me up. Takes me a while to recover. I understand that he has several people in place to take care of things but he always comes off as a pretty intense and hands on type of team manager.

^This.

I think that broken neck last summer has really changed him (IMHO). His lack of intensity this year. His laid back attitude. It probably scared him some and sitting on the couch for that long, he probably started doing some thinking.

Big fan of his and he deserves whatever he wants.

You didn't miss anything. He has not decided what he is going to do yet. Aldon was on the pulpmxshow Monday and he said Dungey is focused on the SX championship and will think about it after SX is over.

KTM has offered RD a one-year extension to his contract (no chance he'd agree to a multi-year K), but he's said multiple times that he won't make a decision until the end of the outdoor season. Personally, I don't think KTM could put down enough zeros to get RD back for another rodeo.

End of SX*, I'll go out on a limb and say he doesn't do outdoors. Or does an abbreviated schedule.

I heard he isn't going to let his fans know anything and maybe show up at Daytona on a Honda Woohoo

I believe the tell tale is that Musquin was contracted through the outdoors the same as Dungey. Musquin has signed a contract extension and Dungey hasn't. Dungey isn't going to go anywhere other than KTM, if he were going to keep racing and he would have likely already signed a contract if he were racing another season.

I know nothing, but that's my logic.

Just remembered, Carmichael mentioned it on the Kevin Harvick XM show. There was a thread about it a few days ago.

Dungey will more than likely take the title. after he got dominated by tomac and roczen this year and last summer, and will this summer, im sure he will want to at least go out on top. His interviews show someone ready to call it quits. Hes got rvs language from 2014
