Where are you riding? Any good places other than Budds or Tomahawk? I'd like to find something closer.

Great looking bike. Building a YZ250 is on my to-do list.

There's a couple tracks around Thornburg I ride at. One is called Whitten MX facility and the other is Dawson Compound. Both are private tracks. Also went to Breezewood Proving Grounds a couple times last year and plan on going there more this year.

More pics coming soon. It was way too bright out to get anything decent.

Bike came out great, I really like the simplicity of the bike, also agree with Kx125rider on the blue seat. I gave my son my 07 YZ 250 and there's times I wish I would have kept it, there just so reliable and a ton of option's for the YZ's. I think I sold the yellow UFO plastics to you a few year's back from TT (A48). Anyway, that's a bike to be very proud of.

Yeah, you gave me a good deal on those yellow plastics. They're still looking pretty good. My buddy really likes them.

Thanks for the praise on the bike. I was going for the look the factory Yamaha bikes have typically used. Almost went with blue rims like Reed and Webb's bikes. But I'm glad I went with black ones. Can't wait to take it for a spin and get dirty again.

Ride report:

Took the bike out Sunday to a local practice track that was hard pack, a bit slick, and in pretty rough shape. I immediately felt more comfortable on the bike with the new suspension setup. I was riding the bike with stock suspension for a while, and I was too heavy for it. I'm right at 190 pounds in full gear. The biggest thing I noticed was the improved grip, better turn in, and how much more confident I was on the bike.

Regarding the FMF 2.1 silencer. It feels just as good as the shorter silencer I had on there. But it is quieter now which is good. Didn't have to make any jetting changes. It also looks much better IMO. So if you're on the fence about it, or worried it might be a downgrade, don't. It works well.

Other than that it was a pretty uneventful day. No surprises, no disappointment. Just a bike that is really working well. My buddy just got a 2017, and I was able to compare the two. Hands down my bike has more bark to get over a jump out of a corner. Jumps I struggled to get clean on the stock bike came much easier on mine.

Sadly it's not this clean anymore.

Great looking bikes in this thread. Wish to hell I'd never sold my 09's 125 and 250... Got an 06 125 now to play with and its running great...won't strip it down for the full re do for quite a while though..just gonna ride it as is.
Bought a brand new 17 yz 450 on Saturday, won't be picking it up for about a month though, going away on holiday, then away for work...first four stroke sinc my 01 426.
I'm on the hunt for an 06 or newer yz 250 now....yep just me and 10,000 other guys!
Getting a decent one for anything under $4 k is just about mission impossible here. They are such good bikes and you can get just about anything for them in the aftermarket...perfect project bikes...I wish so damn many people didn't know that!

Where abouts in Aus are you? Up here a "decent 2nd hand bike" would be classified as the beginning of a project on Vital. Only a select few people look after their bikes and they are almost always the racers.

I'm down in Victoria. All the cheapest deals I see on bikesales are either in Queensland or West Australia.
It's pretty ridiculous seeing 00 to 05 yz's at $2,500 to $3,500 advertised everywhere else. I wonder if they ever get the money? I got my 06 125 for $2300, down from $2600. The guy said he had five offers the first night for $2000.
Seems like an awful lot of people are chasing a post 05 yz two stroke.
Saw a beat up looking 10 model 250 appear on Facebook buy swap sell vic the other week for $3,900 , listed as sold within 2 days..
I will just wait til I have the 3 k spare and just make that offer on everything I see...you never know..
But I'm not paying any more than that for anything that's over 7 years old. You can get a new one from the parallel imports place in Melbourne for $8,500
