Why not just take the money it's going to cost you to get it fixed up on top of what you would pay for it, and go get a newer yz? You could have a 06 yz in much better shape ready to ride more so than the other two. Way the cost out and you'd be surprised.

I dont think i can Get a 2006 Yamaha for that ?

Buddy traded a husky 610 for his. After a full sleeve top end and crank its a good bike. Every bit as good as a buddy's brand new yz250x if u ask me.

Sell the old snowmobile, save up a little more cash and you would be able to get a much better bike. Judging from the pics that guy didn't take care of it. By the time you add up the money your gonna spend doing repairs to get it ridable, your prob looking at having over 2k in a $800 bike. Your talking some $$ in those bent forks.

The front end is easily.switched with newer aos kawi spring forks ala 07 450f and 250fs

I Did Get this Bike
So far it seems to Run Good
I dont think the Forks are bent I think it was just the pic
And the missing guard
So far all I have done is put on new Rear wheel bearings and
Done a little cleaning
I've road it around the parking lot at work a little bit
But wow does it seem fast!
My last bike was a 125 I've never had a 250
So nothing to compare too
But don't think power will be an issue
It does need the front forks serviced tho
Theyfeel like pogo sticks
Any idea what that should cost me ?
Any Recommendations for suspension work in Minnesota?

Good on you, that's a good looking bike. I think just a basic suspension service with fresh fluids would be all you need for now.

Something's not right with that front brake line.
In the era of this bike, Kawasaki ran a brake line with a steel section leading up to the calliper.

If the forks feel that springy you might want to take the fork caps off and make sure the damping rods have not come lose. I've seen it happen.

Pitch those forks. Slide a set of 08250f showa 47mm or the kx450f ala 07 coated kayaba AOS. Way better than those open chamber forks.

I know the newer kawi air forks slide right in to a kx500 clampset. I believe u have the same clamp diameter s as the kx500 had........

The steering stem bearings are the same to this day. The 04 to 07 two strokes had twin chamber kayaba, and any set of kx450 forks is an upgrade as well.

I have 05 KX250 Two Stroke forks freshly rebuilt for 170-180 lbs. maybe 30 minutes time on them. You can have them if you'll pay shipping, I may throw the triple clamps in also. I can't get PM's so let me know here if interested.

It should be a noticable step up, I 100% agree that the 08 and up 250F or 450F is the way to go. I had 2010 250F forks and clamps on my 05 KX250 and felt like I was riding a new bike, too bad it was stolen, I hope the bike eats the SOB that took it !!Angry Question, do you know if his caliper will bolt up to the 05 forks ?

The brake cable on this one looks like they have it routed behind the number plate for some reason, then like Tracktor stated, the guide is twisted. Also missing the top cable guide that mounts by the number plate too.

You can almost see on this potato quality "before" pic of a 97 KX250 I restored how that brake cable routes (and wraps around the bottom of the fork to connect to the caliper).



I assume if you use the 05 forks and your original caliper bolts up, you could use the newer cable routing where it doesn't go around the bottom of the fork and the cable guide attaches to the fork guard instead of bolting directly onto the fork bottom, like my 04 125. Would likely need a new brake line also, since the original has that 90 degree bend and the newer ones do not.
