This is video of Jeremy Lusk's bad (BAD) crash in Costa Rica over the weekend.
He's pretty fucked up, and I am sorry for that
I hope he will be ok and make a full recovery

What pisses me off are the medics.
Jeremy crashes on his last jump within the allotted 2 minutes.
Watch how the medics handle him and watch the rider who came to help being told to STFU, when he was right

That was Wiley Fulmer I believe trying to stop them. It looked like they might have been trying to pull his helmet off incorrectly and Fulmer was trying to get them to stop. It was horrible to see them just toss him on that backboard and run away like that... I prayed for Lusk yesterday, I hope everything comes through 100% for the guy..

I still haven't watched the video, and don't completely agree with it, but I understand your side of it and take your word.

In the Nate Adam’s video “Full Circle”, there is a situation where Nate lands hard, and the paramedics race in with what appears to be no real plan, start taking helmet off etc. The other riders actually started to fight off the paramedics in an effort to try and get some kind of control of what they were doing. What’s the answer? SX/MX is blessed to have the Asterisk Mobile Medical unit there, and with the tricks getting bigger and bigger in FMX, is it time for FMX riders to step up and say “We do not jump, unless our doctors are present?” I hope so.

that really hurts to watch. He's was just getting to the top of his game too, hope he makes a full recovery!! It looks really bad from that video though. Hopes & prayers

What I thought was happening with Lusks helmet was exactly what happened to Adams in Full Circle. Nates helmet was twisted and he was knocked out, they were trying to pull his helmet off and not stabilizing his neck at all so that rider that was trying to stop was getting aggravated because of what they were doing and the language barrier.

Not bashing Costa Rica here, but...I wonder if these guys think about where they are and the level care they will receive if they suffer a crash similar to Lusk's. Scary stuff...very scary.

the fmx guys need someone like doc bodnar to travel with them to these out of the country events.. and they would have one of the helmet extracting devices bodnar and his crew uses.... so things like this wont happen

At the amateur SX at Budds Creek the weekend of the MXoN, my son who was 18 years old by two weeks wrecked and was knocked out. When he woke up, before he even sat up, the EMT woman asked him if he wanted to go to the ER. Of course he said no and she promptly put a release form in front of him to sign. They hadn't even checked him out yet and so I told him not to sign anything. Of course the EMT was busy getting mad at me rather than checking out my son. After having a few words with her, she stormed away and another EMT decided it was more important to look after my son than to argue about a release form. Luckily he only had a broken collar bone and a concussion.

that happened to me at lacr before..my head hit the ground so hard it knocked the lens 1/2 out of my goggles i was out cold..and when i finally was aware of what was going on my buddy showed me the form that i "signed".. the signature looked nothing like mine.. he said i signed it though.. i wasnt in the frame of mind to sign my own release but the "emt" let me

I take it into consideration in regards to events I help send riders to.
This is why I go on occasion to see what's up and kind of check things out.
I helped send some guys to a race in CR a few years back, thankfully no one got hurt and I never got to see the medics in action, but it looked sketchy
It was that same stadium.

Russia's medic staff looked sketchy too and I was nervous about that.
My biggest fear is one of these guys getting hurt overseas, but the team I work with seems to care and do their best to make sure their riders are taken care of.
Brad Graham broke his wrist in the Czech Republic at a race with the team, they took him to the Czech hospital and once back in Germany, the team owner took him to his personal doctor and then flew him home.
This is why I am comfortable with working with this team.

Nothing I can do about trackside medics

No bullshit, in Moscow, this was the fire extinguisher outside the door of the tiny hallway area they had us all pit out of...

I wonder if these FMX guy's wear the Hats Off device in the helmet, Not that the EMTs would have used it.

I also thought it was horrible how they were running with him and he wasn't even mobilized on the back board.

I can only imagine what the ride to the Hospital was like.

When i ran the arenacross stuff for about 3-1/2 years , the first thing the medics taught us was to just sit next to the rider and try to talk to him and get as much info as we could about what was hurting. BUT NEVER , EVER remove the guys helmet....you leave that to the paramedics. I would always ask the downed rider if he was cohearant (

Man that's hard to watch. With the medics running like that it just makes you mad. Seemed like all they cared about was getting him off the track so they could go back to the show. I mean its someone's freaking life that they were just running with, if his neck is broke then all that jarring from running could of ended his life instantly.

Regardless if your a racer or freestyler your still a dirt bike rider and we all need to stand up for our safety. Thankfully we have Doc Bodnar and crew for SX/MX but things need to change for FMX too. Hopefully this is an eye opener for the sport and people will step-up and improve the medics for these types events.

I pray every night for Lusk's recovery and can't wait to see him improve.

Thankfully the French team in Moscow had a couple of docs, and I know they offered us their services more than once, so even our litle rag-tag bunch of doofuses were better off than the FMX dudes in CR, apparently...

The Hats Off name has been changed to Eject, and Shock Doctor bought the licensing for it.

The shot below is of Michael Hall and the Asterisk Mobile Medical guys using the Eject setup to take off his helmet (you can see the tube leading to the CO2 cartridge and inflator in Doc Bodnar's hand. The helmet came off very easily...but I don't think regular EMTs would know that it's available. That's where medical personnel that are familiar with the riders and their equipment definitely helps.

I just watched the clip and I cant understand what your problem is? Chalk it up to your ignorance, anger? Dont know?

They saw the trauma unfold before their eyes. Knew what they were dealing with. Gently aligned his arms and legs, rolled him onto the backboard with head stabilization already on it. Strapped him to the backboard and GOT THE HELL OUT OF THERE.

That's it. So you can complain about the EMT's/MEDICS, but it appears from this side of YOUTUBE they did a great job. Did you want them to, I don't know? Sit around and asses that he may not be breathing? That would be a good thing huh. Watching him turn blue like his bike Fuck with his helmet strap?

Tell us Dave, in your wisdom what are they doing incorrectly? I mean you are a current ALS card holder Right?

Tiki, do you have your EMT card? Some of your post sounds like you might. That video could almost be a training video for how not to assess/stabilize a potential spinal injury.

It was terrible....
