This is awesome! I'm going to ask (on instant messenger) a couple of my buddy coworkers over there if they are into Moto.

I often wonder if it all was actually more fun when we first started riding than it is when you figure it out?

I was really wondering what kind of bike the winner was riding though, never seen or heard of the brand before. Turns out it's an Indian motorcycle manufacturer!

Pretty interesting read on the bikes over here: http://100motorcycles.xbhp.com/rtr300/
A think several years ago Mahindra had a MX team here in the US. They were using someone else's bikes but I wondered at the time if they'd be developing a bike for MX. They've had some good results with their Moto3 efforts so they apparently have some people that can develop/build higher revving engines. I know they build tractors as I've seen some of them here in the US but I think they're into cars, UTV's, electric cars, etc. There a big company.

I've read that the population of India is projected to exceed China's around 2030. And India does not have the population controls that China has. Seems like there will be an ever expanding base of motorcyclists there. If only a small fraction of them take up MX it could still be a huge number of participants needing bikes.

It's an apples/oranges comparison, but I get what you mean. One's a low-end freak show for people who can't figure out which sports belong in stadiums...

Supercross is the worst thing that ever happened to motocross, because it dragged the sport's image down into the dregs, down with NASCAR and Monster Trucks and MMA. At least MXGP *tries* to project an aura of sophistication, kinda like MotoGP in the dirt.

Spot on.

That's cool, why are you guys laughing at people out racing dirt bikes??? What did I miss???
Innit. If the sport takes off there then it will only benefit the rest of us. About 7-8 years ago I had a job offer that would have meant moving to India and one of the things that made me balk was having no tracks or scene. The cost of importing a vehicle to India made taking my bikes unfeasible, so can't begin to imagine how much those bikes would have cost. Import duties were 100% of the value plus local sales tax from what I remember. An Indian built four stroke would have them priced below a two stroke.

I Will say this and mean it

If there were races held on a track's similar to that jump wise, whoop wise etc... i would be racing every weekend

However, the tracks we have out here in so.cal are way way way gnarlier than that. so therefore i aint racing

The crowd seemed to really love it. The riders seemed to of had some great fun. Win-win there I think.

I also think it's cool they are introducing our sport to their country with open arms from all involved. I think it's awesome and wish them the best.
