I've noticed a trend amongst us fans that when guys at at the top and killing everyone, like when RC, JS and CR were winning, a lot of people gave them crap for being arrogant, cry babies..etc. Then when they are at the ends of their careers, people love them!

Also, the other scenario, when guys like Craig, wilson, Hahn, Bagget and AC get lots of love when they are trying to make comebacks after not doing so well, due to injury or other issues.

I'm a little guilty of this myself, just find it interesting...

Bloody oath mate! I think we all love an underdog. My favourites are the ones that nobody suspects, my personal favourite at the moment is Dylan Ferrandis, Euro GP gun looking to make a name in the bright lights of supercross, watch him in the outdoors...

I agree with you. When roczen was winning the first few rounds I wanted dungey to win so badly now I'm dying to see Tomac pull it off! Baggett will always be my favorite racer no matter what though.

I dont know if its an American thing but it is a sports thing. Its the ultimate drama and people remember times when David beats Goliath. Mainstream examples are the 1980 US hockey team and 2008 Giants beating the Patriots. Also reinforced by movies like Hoosiers, Rudy and Major League. Most people want to believe that success in sports comes down to hard work and desire.

Anyone who follows motosports knows about "Anyone but Kinser" t-shirts, or watching Jeff Gordon getting booed during his prime. I don't get the "winning too much" phenomenon, but it's real.

I absolutely love watching the "best of their time" operate at dominant levels (RC, Stew, MC......).

But, that's made even more intriguing when there is someone worthy chasing them.

And yes. I still root for Stewart to make a comeback. Hell, at the Atlanta supercross I was looking for Izzy. Thought he was their, making his comeback. I was excited for the underdog.

It's pretty crazy how worked up people get about riders.

So is ET making the racing boring by dominating or is he an underdog because he is behind in the points??? Blink

This is totally a sports thing. For example last night womens final 4. Uconn has won 111 straight games and Mississippi St. Wins at the buzzer in overtime and the bar I'm at erupts. We have absolutely no stake in either of these teams yet it felt like it was our team that just won.

I am guilty of this too in pretty much all sports. As for Eli I think he is the underdog because he is down in points and that's what is important.

what's to get about jealousy and envy?

people love putting other people on pedestals. (when they can see themselves in the subject) but if your pedestal gets too high, then they want to knock it down. (when they can no longer see themselves in the subject)

I can't stand it. I hate it when people root for underdogs. I want underdogs to get squashed and demoralized. I want to see the best at their best.

He's making the racing boring but it usually sucks in supercross anyway so it's cool that he's making the title fight interesting

Of course. It makes the sport...whether it's a bat & ball sport or racing, more exciting.

GAWD! Bet whatever you think is right and if anyone thinks differently "They're" an idiot in your book.

Couldn't have anything to do with closer racing/points is more exciting than a run-away

Yes I root for the underdog because most of my favourite riders always are in that spot.

One exception for me was RC but even he became I felt an underdog to Stewart's speed.
