Just over six months till the 2017 Motocross of Nations at Matterley Basin nr Winchester England, time to start bench racing on what I'm sure will be another classic!

Who's coming over?

Who will Team USA send?

Can Team France score a hat- trick of victories?

What other nations have strong teams?

Will Stefan Everts come out of retirement to lead Belgium to victory?

I'll be there rooting on Team USA with a group of 20 people. My wife and I are then going to do an extended 14 days in London, Paris, and Dublin.

I'm hoping team USA is Tomac, Dungey, Forkner

Dude! Im planning hotels as we speak.

I'm looking at hotels and Air BnB in the London area. Where would you recommend for a tourist that wants to do all the touristy things? I've read Russell Square is good.

Also, I'm not into Soccer (Football) much, but will there be any Premier League games Oct. 2 - 5 in the London Area for a soccer newb?

Team France will field 2 teams ( using the USA/Puerto Rico senario) and still take the top 2 steps. Cool

To be honest anywhere in central London is pretty good man; using the London Underground will make everything easily within reach on the tourist trail - it will largely boil down to how much you want to spend on accommodation!

Also the 2017-2018 Premier League fixtures are likely to be released around the middle of June, you might get lucky with a Monday night match on October 2nd.

Jeremy Martin and Forkner is going to be tough for MX2. Tomac and Dungey pending Webb's rookie season. Something tells me Dungey won't be there.

Agreed, anywhere within Zone 4 will never really be more than 30 mins from central.. and staying central is super expensive and not really typical London life (non of us can afford to live central! haha).

Rob....there is a shit ton of racing until the MXoN's race. Lots of guys might not even make it due to injury and / or other obligations. But I'm with you....I'm excited for the race as well this year. I wasn't really over the past few years , and actually didn't even want to watch it.....but you know what? I did watch it....in the wee hours of the morning , because I know our team would have wanted as many USA fans as they could get. I'll do the same this year too.

Like Jeffro said still a long ways to go till Mxon, injuries and stuff can still screw things up...

But i am liking the idea of team Belgium so far. Desalle & The Jerre on 450s.. Lieber on a 250. Legit team right there.

But honestly i am more hyped up about the idea of Tomac comming over, the way he's been riding lately i'd say he is the FMOTP right now. Line him up with Gajser and let it play out Cool

Eli might bow out again like last year, It will likely not be a dream team but in a wet dream I would like to see Dungey, Tomac and Osborne. Zac has Euro experience. I wouldn't be surprised to see Baggett, Anderson, Seely or even Milsaps in there if the "A" team bails.
3/26/2017 10:26pm
You guys remember when Dungey was healthy, and hadn't raced for months, and still decided to skip the MxDN?

I do.

I drove right past the top pits entrance yesterday, you can't see it from the road though.... you would have no idea what sits in that valley....

I would also look at the Championship(the second league) clubs in London, easier to get tickets and the atmosphere usually better!

I've been putting that scenario forward for a few years now.

Admittedly, with a Big pinch of Sarcasm, but the French could easily do it, as they have a fair few 'dependencies' ( if that's the correct term?) that they could make use of to have a very powerful 'shadow / B Team. I usually bring it up when twonkers go on about how many teams the US could put forward. Hell, most countries could play the old Puerto Rico game ( including OZ, we've got a few semi independent islands).

Time to crack down on non residents / Nationals racing in teams. Mind you, Billy Lyles (sp?) and Trampas Parker rode for some Euro Teams at the MXDN.

Hopefully I'll be at Matterly, and the VMXDN. I'm sorting out a Euro /Britain 'Road Trip' with my Danish relatives over the next few months. One of my Niece's drives now, so she can handle much of the bloody wrong side of the Road sillyness, in their Sprinter based RV.

France did field a B Team in 1988 at Villars sous Ecot through the Pyrenean principality Andorra!
Hell even the Scots could field a competitive team on their own.....Woohoo

Team France already have a hattrick of victories.

But hell yes I can't wait for this event. The last MXdN there was phenomenal and I'm hoping that this one will be the same and Team USA are able to send their best

Lots of racing left. If Eli has a strong outdoor season I think he will go. A team of Eli, Web, Forkner would be great. But we will have to wait and see if anyone else is ready to step their game up for outdoors before deciding.

How about when Ferrandis and Musquin have a great outdoor season, still end up not getting picked?

My bad, forgot their victory in Keggums Latvia.
Makes them even more dominant in this annual team contest.

Will See, Eli again like last year will be forced to do the GP again this year. At least there is only one.

How's this for a team short list:

MX1 & Open: Tomac, Dungey, Anderson, Barcia, Bagget, Webb and obviously RC. If boxers can get fighting fit in 6 weeks then RC can! His tune up race could be Gatorback GP Smile

MX2: The Martins, Forkner, Cianciarulo, Osborne, Savagty.

Even the weakest team outta that lot could still go and win it...

I'm not betting against USA this year lol.

It should be another awesome weekend!

If everyone is healthy and team GB isn't Tommy, Simpson, Anstie/Wilson I would be absolutely amazed. Also, after how well JVH rode on a 250 last year team Belgium would have to be Desalle, JVH, Strijbos surely?

Not sure of Tommy and Max seems to have a MXoN monkey on his back. For team Red a totally (no nagging issues) healthy Desalle would be the crown jewel. Pauls should think about getting temp Holland papers for a weekend and ride with Jeffery & Glenn

Agreed, but he was also younger and healthy
