SO weird to see this thread!

I was just thinking yesterday who will we see with the #s 7, 8 and 9 in the next year or two.

Cant he claim an injury and hold on to the number for another year?

Maybe just earn the points. Easy fix.
Yea, you're right. Look how many years Mike Brown keep at it to score just 25 points. If he loves moto enough, he will just score 25 points and keep his number and have a little fun doing it.

Nobody gets it until James Stewart fails to earn 25 points in a season. He's still got the rest of Supercross and the whole Outdoor season to go. Even if he fails to earn the 25 points the AMA will probably make the # 7 unavailable for 5 years like they did with the # 4 when Carmichael retired.
why? its not like he had that dominating of a career.

He has 2 west sx title
2 mx125 titles
2 sx titles
1 mx title (happens to be a perfect)

RV and Dung have had was more accomplished careers

stewie does have a lot of wins and always wowed people with his style but also his massive implosions. if the guy couldve toned things down just a notch he couldve had 4 more titles easily

Why even have a number if you're not racing ? Isn't that like having surf racks on your car and never leaving Garden Grove ?

Did he earn 25 last year?
I wondered the same thing. 23 pts in outdoors and 10 pts in supercross.

I'm tired of waiting for a press release or a show up from Stew. Hopefully the AMA gives up 7 for the taking so everyone can finally accept Stew is done.

Bigger question who gets seven. I have my suspicions about whether or not James even owns it anymore.

If he does, wow, he isn't doing anything to help promote it. He has the biggest following of any of the seven athletes and doesn't do anything with it.

How do you figure that? MC has 7 titles, RC has 5, RV has 4, Stanton, Dungey, and Hannah have 3. James Stewart has 2, same as Reed, Ward, and Johnson. I didn't realize Supercross was a judged event because it certainly doesn't look like he was the most talented since the ultimate goal is to be the Supercross champion.

You mean go back to the most honest, simplest numbering system that was totally unique to the sport of motocross ?
