My name is Brian. I'm a 30 year Honda auto tech. Started racing in NorCal in the early 70s, D36 AMA, CMC a lot of tracks back then. Started back racing in 95, MX, HS and speedway at Cal Expo and Auburn until about 2005. I'm 58 and mostly ride my dual sport and rip mini bikes on my property in the foothills, still practice on my 450 and getting another cr 250 cuz I miss the 2 smoke. Been hurt all along the way, just tore my left ACL again last May but man I love bikes! This is a good thread idea, thanks!

No doubt. So are you still with Pirelli? Yeah mine has been a great bike. I've had it for 6 years now with no issues. Got it for $1,500 in 2011 when the economy was bad.

No not in the tyre business anymore. Diamond cutting tools now days. They are great bikes, I don't think they were that shit hot on the track in those days tho. I had min since 03 and let's say that particular model was wortho $$$$$.. way to much to mention. What brand of tyres are you selling /promoting?

Age: 47

Profession: trauma and critical care Xray and CT tech

Rank: Lurker/rare Commentor

Started Riding: 9 or 10 yrs old on a Montessa trials bike

First Bike: 1975 Xr 75 (wish I still had it!)

Current Ride: 08 Yamaha FJR1300 and 2000 YZ250

Favorite Rider: Bradshaw, McGrath, Reed

Riding Accomplishments: B class racer in the early 90's. No serious injuries. No real accomplishments other than seeing some cool stuff. Saw Pastrana racing and dominate on an 80 at Motorama in Harrisburg PA years ago. Saw Villopoto dominate at Budds Creek des Nations. Got to be on the floor holding pit board for a friend trying to qualify at Giants Stadium in 91 or 92 and at Mt Morris around the same time. Practiced at the same track as Steve Herman (best rider out of central PA in the 90s). Been to a few nationals at Budds Creek, Steel City and Mt Morris.

Misc: Just got the YZ last spring, 1st MX bike in 20yrs. No more racing, just riding around the track and trails. Its not as easy to find places to ride as it was 25 yrs ago which sucks.Think I enjoy the working on the bike more at this point than the riding, not nearly as daring as I used to be.

I literally sat here and read this entire thread while sitting at the Atlanta airport waiting to go to the stadium (took a red eye flight in from Oregon) so I'll add to it.

Name: Collette
Age: 30
Favorite Rider: Eli Tomac

I don't ride, though I'd like to just need to get my hands on a bike. I use to ride when I was 13 with my cousins, who raced locally. I watched No to back in those days, loved it but wasn't something my parents could afford to let me do, once I moved away from my cousins I had nobody to watch with so I stopped. Started watching again about a year and a half ago. First race I went to was MEC last year were ET3 won. Went to A1 this year met Eli told him about MEC and he called me his lucky charm. Guess I wasnt so lucky at A1 or A2 for that matter. Hopefully ill be more lucky here in Atlanta.

Misc: I love all sorts of sports, football and baseball and moto of course are my top. I love sports photography but only an amateur. Hard to get good cameras into some of these stadiums without credentials.

That's cool, Colette. Have met a pretty diverse group of folks over the years (as demonstrated in this thread) and still into it after all these years. Awesome that you're at the race! Enjoy and safe travels.

What the heck, I will play.
Name: Jeff
Age: I would like to think a young 57
Daytime Occupation: Quality Engineer
Do not currently own a bike (I don't consider my non running 78 XR75 a bike), but keep threatening
to buy one. Last ride was a 00 CR-250, sold in 06. Raced B class in the hotly contested NY State District 3
in the 80's, did OK, but loved it and still do!
Night and weekend job is photography and I have been lucky enough to have been inside the fences/on the floor shooting at some east coast events (and posting pictures here). Never got that factory ride racing, maybe I can get a factory photography job!

Favorite rider - WOW - Hanna, MC, RC.

Next event - Toronto SX - may even post some road trip images!

Profession: Home Inspector, Home Builder
Current Ride: 2017 KTM SXF450
Riding accomplishment: Won 1st race I entered, mini jr., 1976, Crockett Texas
Misc: First race hooked me. Funny because my dad thought it would scare me and I would want to quit riding. He was not a rider, but he took me to the races every Sunday, sometimes with a bad hangover after the many social events he and my mom attended on Saturday nights. Some of the best memories were those days, RIP Mom and Dad. I was a slow B racer at peak and now a slow vet rider, no more races for me.

I'm married for 25 yrs with two grown children and one grandchild. Very loving and supportive family. Also have a band of motocross brothers that I would not have met if not for motocross/dirt bikes.

This thread has brought some humanity back to Vital. Some folks here can be brutal, although, educational hazing of newb's should be encouraged.

Age: 24
Began riding: 2004 (aged 11).
Favorite Rider: The underdog.
Profession: Design engineer at a motorcycle OEM
Current Ride: 2010 YZ450F. Still only has about 70 hours on it though... Sad

Riding accomplishment: Caught and passed Nathan Watson and then put 7 seconds on him on the way to a 4th place finish at a British Youth national race in 2010. He has since scored World championship points and won some World Enduro races, so I'm pretty proud of that one...
Got 2nd and 10th in the Irish and British national championships in 2010, after breaking 15 bones in the preceding 4 years!

Misc: We used to ride or race every weekend from January to Halloween, but when I started college I was lucky to get out 5 or 6 times a year. Graduated college with an MEng in mechanical engineering last May, and just started my first big boy job as a design engineer last November. About to move to a place with a garage, and currently saving up for a van so that I can scratch the itch again! Haven't been on a bike since May!

Do a lot of cycling and bouldering to keep myself sane, but nothing hits the spot like moto

Recently moved to the Midlands (between Leicester and Birmingham), so if anyone here is near me and fancies going riding over the summer hit me up!
