First three races he ran Kawi works triple clamps, the last two races (which he's won) he's used X-trig triple clamps and the forks look like they're slid all the way up to the bars.. Whatever it is it's working, but I think it's a bandaid to a bike he doesn't like.
I wouldn't be surprised if a sweet deal came around for outdoor and he jumped ship from Kawasaki..

There's a 99.99% chance that won't happen.

He ain't jumping no ship before this years up. Has he ever said he didn't like the KX450? Or is that what the vitards said? He looked pretty unbeatable last 2 races.

what are the options realistically?

suzuki - no money
yamaha - hell no
honda - roczen
ktm - maybe? the chassis is probably 180* from the kawi.

I just wonder if Tomac does have better success like the last two races, he might thinking about not wanting to start all over again with a new bike and team. Granted he is happy of course. Seemed like it last night. I am sure having 94 out helps. Smile

If he continues to win in Supercross and either wins the title or comes close, I say he stays at Monster Kawi for another year. If SX is up and down like last year, I think he's out and headed to either KTM (if Dungey retires) or RCH Suzuki (if they bring in a title $ponsor) or JGR Suzuki.

I do not see him staying at Kawasaki unless they have a really successful Supercross season from here on out. Tomac doesn't seem like the type to wait until outdoors to sign his deals.

If tomac gets the bike where he wants it he better stay put he's obviously no ken roczen. I know the whole shoulder thing but he struggled really bad. Where as roczen if he makes a recovery should have titles on 3 different brands. Some guys can move around some guys can't. And I hate losing a contender because they thought the grass was greener on the other side.

I hope Tomac stays put. The bike is not the reason for no 450 c'ships yet. It's the Indian not the arrow.

Unless Kawi makes big changes I see him switching. Based solely on the fact that he he tends to look uncomfortable on that bike. Clearly he's been fast lately. For Oakland, I think he was willing to push harder on a rutted track more than any bike comfort.

And I made a post about that commercial in the Super Bowl thread in non-moto, at the same time!

I was wondering about this during the past week as well. You know right now is the time where top name guys like Tomac are working out their deals for next season in a contract year. I'd love to know who he's talking to, or his agent, and what those conversations look like.

Not sure if tomac goes to KTM or not but I'd be willing to bet that after 2017 Ryan Dungey retires from full time pro racing. Decoster retires and RD becomes the new team manager

Im just hoping he stays healthy, Roczens arm doesnt affect his ability, and the both push each other in 2018 without getting in each others heads.
2015 Outdoors Tomac vs 2016/17 Roczen could be prety exciting!

If he was going to make a change, I think he would look great on Husqvarna. He's the perfect racer to bring the coolest brand in MX to a modern day title.

OR..... (future headlines)

Eli realizes that switching brands means having to learn all the nuances of a new machine (something he's not keen to repeat) and decides to stick with Kawi now that he's found settings that work?????

I don't know, just throwing it out there.
If I were Eli, I'd be so sick and tired of testing. The last thing I'd want is to take a brand new platform (possibly different frame material) and start figuring out how to make it work for my style.

I agree with if i where Tomac i would stay with Kawi if i figure that machine out. Also now he knows that even if they "think" they found great settings for a 2018 (ET left the bike after MECUP and did no further testing due to MECUP "good" result) new bike, they dont really know until A1 and that might be to late.

Roczen went to Honda while he was having trouble with the Suk, not after they figured it out.

Of course if Tomac see that he can get plenty of money upfront with little bonuses he cares less for the actual performance of the first races of the new first year. He just needs to worrie about getting bike dialed for the second-third year of his contract so puts himself in a good position to re-negotiate. Also a scenario.

So all in all, money talks.

We'll have a good idea in the 2nd half of the season.
