If you maintain your dirtbike, it shouldn't be hard to keep your kick starter in one piece. I personally never have broken one and I've never seen one of the stars on MX DNF due to a broken kickstart lever. Obviously, it can and has happened.
I just thought it was funny how you worded it. I've broken a few but it sure isn't normal occurrence.

I rode an sxf with E-start and it was definitely cool but no where near a necessity for me. That said, I am impressed with my supermoto with a very light/small Shorai battery. It sits for 3-4 weeks and then starts right up in 1 or 2 presses of the button.

Lashing out? Do you need a hug? Read my initial post, I only questioned you about all the "issues" you mentioned various people having with e-start (for which you provided no examples Whistling ) Everything else was just a general statement of my opinion, not specifically targeting your fragile ego. Bro I occupy so much space in your head I'm going to start subletting to other "trolls"

My bike isn't even hard to get going. 1-6 kicks cold and 1 kick hot but by the end of the day the bottom of my foot is bruised through my mx boots.

I stopped kick starting it and get pulled by the wife's quad to cold start it...lol. Seems to start better when I call it a pig a few times.

That Panthera setup is being saved for.

lol sounds like you do have trouble with it...I dont find it difficult to start mine unless I screw up the technique. But then again I have never had an issue kickstarting bikes, the EC on my RX is pure heaven when in a tricky situation though...

how much is that kit for the CR500, if you dont mind me asking?
They come in around $1300 after conversion. Its all billet parts and off the shelf starter. Also puts out power for lights

I responded with an example. It must get tiring talking out the side of your mouth every single post. Happy trolling!

I hear you. I totally get people wanting e-start. It would be a nice convenience. I think Honda offering it as an upgrade is a great idea, but the price is steep.

Another example, I was handed the overall at one of the races I did this year because the leader blew the fuse on his KTM. Pretty sure that fuse wouldn't be there on a non e-start bike. He said it just started cutting out which is obviously sketchy. Probably a rare occurrence also.

The RX is $400 more and has the engine hangers and e-start that the "fast guys" run (estimated at around $1,000 value on average).

I'm jus' sayin'...

(This is where devout motoheads chime in about the Ti tank, 19" wheel and some sort of 'weight' argument)

Not to piss on your party but the RX DOES have a rather bloated looking tank. As for the kickstand, well, let's just say I may or may not have almost got kicked out of the Honda store when I kicked that bitch like it was a '91 Huffy. The BANG it made when hitting the stop sent shockwaves through the store.

I am skeptical on your "fuse" story. If the fuse blows on a KTM it will not cause the bike to "cut out". When a fuse blows that means the circuit is broken and will no longer flow current, usually caused by a short. This means that whatever circuit was blown will no longer function. It will NOT work intermittently, in fact it will no longer function until the fuse is replaced. When you blow a breaker in your house do the lights flicker on and off?

My 350 runs with the battery removed, as do most motorcycles and ATV's.

Just the facts

"Pretty sure" were my words. I'm PRETTY SURE (as in I (me and only me) think, but am not positive) that fuse wouldn't be there if not for the e-start circuit. Wasn't my bike and I didn't get over there with my magnifying glass. Just what the owner told me and the fuse fixed the problem.

Just the facts.

Pretty sure you do not know how a fuse operates.

Just my highly educated opinion

Any vehicle that uses a battery (DC current) has a fuse panel of some sort.

Good Points & VALID from the MotoHead perspective.

The tank was a non-issue for me and the kickstand is removed via the R peg-mount. Then there's the 19" rear-wheel.

Peg mt: $15.37
Peg pin: $3
Ti Tank: $562
Gas Cap: $21
Cover: $21
Fasteners: $25
Shrouds: $75-$150 (after-market v. OEM)
Rear Wheel: $300-$600 (I'd just get a set)
Prices via Babbits and wheels are an educated estimate.

There's the cost to "go full track bike" with an RX. All the while you still have ALL that off-road stuff when you go off-roading. I'm thinking a resourceful person can get it all under $1K. I've already seen people spend that much putting the "starter kit" on an R ($615 plus battery at Babbits and...like I've said, people have paid more AND paid to have it installed).

Again, I'd be happy with just removing the kickstand. I've spent a good long day on an RX, stock, on an MX track. Loved it. Oh, and so did ML512. Both of us ran kick stands all day...No Problems.

Please?

I just wanna see him rock a "single to table" & show me how it's done.

Are you talking about Stan? The guys flies, even when he is on the Maico 490. We have Kim Houde here in Manitoba to kill others MX dreams

Pretty sure you're a troll trying to talk shit on me over a situation you know absolutely nothing about. I work on electric powered vehicles for a profession every single day. Happy trolling!

I have seen a few kickstarters break ( on two strokes)..........and anyone that thinks old guys are slow.....go out and ride with an over the hill A rider........or an old expert or pro......and yes that includes over 50.

Us old vets know a thing or two because we've seen and experienced a thing or two......they used to run the over 30 experts with the A class around here and many times we would be in front of the young guns.. Used to piss me off because I'd always think that if I'd have signed up in the A class I'd have made more money Smile Better get the start though.....

Hard to believe my over thirty days ended 8 years ago.......Look down the line at almost any vet A class and I'm betting you aint seeing many BIG guts.......( The Dogger is a good example..)

Maico 490...sigh.

I need to build one.

As for the comment someone-else made about the $562 gas tank: it's Titanium!
