One thing I have experience being pretty fast and over 6 foot tall is that everything is exaggerated, compared to say my 5'9" 175lb brother. Your setup, the changes you make to the bike, the way you ride the bike and your inputs are all exaggerated. When you make wonky modifications to your bike or you ride the bike with poor technique, it's infinitely more difficult for a bigger guy. When I hate the way my bike is working the most, that is when I have to stop, take a step back and look at what I am doing with my riding technique. Some of the best riding I've ever done was on a brand new stock bike. It's very easy to end up out in left field with setup so always take a look at what you can change in your technique before making strange changes to an otherwise balanced motorcycle. Just my 2 cents.

Yup. That's why big guys are always smooth. Plus we hit the ground harder.

I'm pretty tall at 6'3 and I've never had anyone teach me how to ride or coach me in the ways of bike setup. My bike is basically stock except for suspension set up for my weight. I'm in the market for a few goodies like new bars, clamps, and a few other things so I wanted to ask around to see what some of you taller guys do to set up your bikes? What would be some good things that I can do that would help my riding?
6'2" - lower pegs, kdub bend bars

It's a leg clearance thing for corners.

I'm 6' 4" with a long torso. I race desert. I like bars with a minimal pull back angle, like 10 degrees or a tad more, maybe 10.5 degrees. Anything near a 13 degrees really hurts my wrists and creates pain from my wrist to my elbows. This is because I have a wife wing span. For me, I like a total rise of 1" taller then stock setup. I really enjoy the renthal low ktm fat bar bend. They are a short bar bs most bars, so you just make up the difference in whatever rider option you pick, the cheap tusk stuff is great. Ive tried taller seats but went back to a stock seat, makes corners easier and faster

What brands of foot pegs are made that lower your foot position?

Nice! How close does it work out to the F3?

Well, that makes perfect sense. I'm 5'10", so I never even thought of that, but I've felt jammed up in rutted corners myself, so I can see where the taller bars would help....

Yeah, I actually like some rather flat bend bars on some scoots.....but if I'm putting bruises on my thighs...gotta go up! Wink

Yep, ktm bend bars have the least sweep so they are good for taller guys.

I've always run Suzukis so I've never had to worry about cornering with a 20mm taller seat. The tall seat is really helpful for gripping with your knees when standing.

I tried the tall bars once and they make your bike ride like a chopper

A taller seat has always helped me get up over than tank more in corners. It seem like the newest gen of bikes are being designed with more level, flater seats for that same reason.

I'm 6'4" and I run standard height pegs and the lowest bars I can find. tall bars keep me in a stood up position and I prefer the head of bars attack position. I guess its all personal preference though

I'm 6'3" as well. Taller handlebar clamps and a tall seat are all I need. dont go to crazy but these are the mods I'd do. I wouldn't go more than 10mm on the handlebar clamps and about an inch on the seat. Guts has the tall seats.....get the firmer foam so it stays tall.

Yes.....for me personally......I want to be able to straighten my foot out when I'm cornering for certain types of corners. It makes the seating to standing transition a hair bit easier. We are talking one inch though so it's not a huge difference. I like the firm because I race and the Motos are only like 12 minutes. The seat doesn't have to be super comfortable for sitting. I haven't really found a con to the taller seat except that you have to change out a perfectly good stock seat cover and they can look ugly.

Give guts a call and see what they say. I would hate to be the guy that convinced you to go with the firm seat and you don't like it! Also....please give some feedback when you finally ride with it.

Yes......with the seat this is the whole dealio.....

I had a torn Acl that got repaired and anything to preserve the knees. It's. It a huge change....just enough.

I always wondered if being tall and 200# hurts me riding. It's got to be at least a little easier to be smaller.

Any of you try a 250F?

I copied the 2tall kit for my rm250/kx500 Franken bike. I did not make bar mounts like the 2 tall kit. Just used windham bend renthals and a top triple clamp with adjustable bar mounts. I used a tall seat. I added onto the frame and subframe to raise the top of the bike 1 inch. At 6ft 1in it feels great.

Too bad 2tall only makes kits for KTM/huskies.

It still turns great since it's a Suzuki 2 stroke.
My knees are more comfortable gripping the seat with my toes pointed in.
My knee braces slide along the radiator shroud better as my knees no longer hang up on the holes, and screw up my braces.
For me, on my obsolete frankenbike, it works great!
I also run fat gel crotch rocket grips with a larger than normal diameter. As long as I don't fall in mud they are perfect for me.
Might not be for everybody, but I'm glad I tried it.

Whatever works best for you. I just felt extremely uncomfortable anytime I try to make changes to better suit a bigger rider.
