A lot of the Stewart hate comes from younger fans who didnt experience James' revolution. They are Dungy, Roczen, Tomac, Poto, etc. fans. They see/saw their favorite winning etc. and have to hear the comparisons to Stewart and cant relate. Just makes them mad. Dungy, Roczen, they will never do what James was able to do. Do you see Dungy or Roczen stopping in the middle of a race to let the other catch up and pass them only to reel them back in and dust roll them? No. it will never happen again. James did it. History was made with James. Wont be able to say that with Dungey or Roczen

I'm 21 now and grew up watching the world championship but as someone who wasn't watching American motocross at the time, I totally understand his revolution. YouTube has so many great races and he made a joke of all the other riders in the 125 class at the time.
Crazy talented and an attitude to win no matter what.

Even at this point in his career I still think that given the right bike and his heads in the right place that he could give Roczen a fair race, well atleast for a while anyway.
He still has the talent, just his age holding him back these days, there's only so many crashes you can have before your brain starts telling that right wrist to back off a little.

OK , some of you guys are getting pretty carried away with this shit. In the 125 days , James was incredible.....best there ever was as far as I'm concerned. But in the big bikes? There were periods where he was the fast , but many , many more time periods where he was not.

Comparing him and putting him above RD or Kenny is kinda dumb. Both have more championships and Kenny has a won stuff in the GP's as well.

Some of you keep regurgitating that he was the best ever when it comes to this sport. He wasn't . Like you're completely forgetting what MC did in SX , What RC did in SX and MX , or RV with 4 x SX championships in a row and a 450 title. Reed is still plugging along out there and is what 3 - 4 years older , with multiple championships and only a few SX wins behind James. Don't forget about the Barnett , Johnson and Wardy days either.

Be a fan all you want to , but this " he's the greatest thing this sport has ever seen? LMFAO.....a great one for sure , but don't fucking kid yourself. Be happy he's coming back , but god damn enough with the " Stewart is god " bullshit. Getting a little pathetic.

Perfect example....Roczen does NOT have more championships than Stewart. 24-0. You just don't know the history of the god damn sport.

MC's 05-06 comeback was justified at San diego 06. Last 250 2-stroke to lead a lap, and im pretty sure he nac-nac'd the triple that lap. What a fitting send-off for two-strokes.

Now, if James comes back on a weedmaps Husky TC250 two-stroke and does the sprinkler... well... i'll need help picking up the pieces of my fragmented skull after my head explodes.
That was at the Phoenix SX. He holeshot the main then did a nac nac over the first triple which was right in front of my seat. What a view

He is above Kenny and Ryan. Look at the win totals. Kenny has a decent shot at catching up. Ryan, needs Kenny and Eli to retire in order to catch James numbers

Kenny has only been doing the 450 thing for a couple years. Kenny has an MX2 world championship along with some AMA championships. He's just getting started. James is going on his 16th year as a pro.

Go to the vault and compare records of James , to RC , RV , MC , RD and so forth.......if you can't jump off his nuts after looking at that , then you're fucking blind.

Like I said , dig the guy all you want to.....but there were way better racers throughout the years. And almost every single one of the guys I mentioned beat him way more then he ever beat them.

I know. Facts are hard to hear. And don't ever question my knowledge about the sport dipshit.

Roczen is much younger than Stewart. I know the history of the sport I watched the very first Supercross many moons ago. I never said anything about Championships, or wins for that matter. I said Stewart WAS a great rider. Was is the operative word here, he is no longer the man to beat, he is not feared any more. Much like Tiger Woods, he was feared and respected in his time, this is no longer his time. Roczen, Dungey, Tomac, even Reed doesn't fear Stewart, they know they can beat him now. Could they in their prime have beaten him in his prime? maybe, maybe not, we will never know the answer to that, it's fun to speculate and argue about it though.

Stewart was the man to beat, now he is just a beaten man.

MODS... GuyB - Can we get a permanent "Stewart" thread, then all post about them can go there.
Their fans deserve it. They've earned it.

Kinda like the DUMBgeon, above or below it will be just fine.

The only thing you need to know when discussing James with his "fans" here on vital is:

1)Nobody rode a dirt scooter fast before James

2)James is the only one to ever ride a dirt bike fast.

And finally...

3)When James retires, nobody, ever again, will ride
as fast as James.

Not many riders have this effort from people trying to prove how overrated they are. It still amazes me.

Laughing Well placed Eddy.

Many past Champions, RJ, RC, Matiasevich, DV, Stephenson, that's just the ones I remember, have called JS7 the fastest rider ever, I haven't seen that with many other riders, except maybe RC.

It's cool to see Brett Cue and 365 teaming up with Malcolm, it will be interesting to see if James rides for them also.

By no means do I think he is the best thing ever. You are seriously under rating him and your disdain for James as an RV fan has been well documented. You say that Kenny is just getting started, but James was a notch or two above Kenny at that point in his career. You never know what will happen.

Stewart is second on the all time AMA wins list, higher than Dungey, RV, and certainly Roczen. A case can certainly be made that he's better.

He has won races from 2005-2014. Dungey will need to win in 2019 to match that, Roczen in 2023. We can add up their win totals then and see where they are.

While he's not the most complete, consistent, or even dominant rider ever, he's probably the single greatest talent the sport has seen to date. If you suggest otherwise I wonder if you were even paying attention.

Most talent could be argued as KW , TP199 , and some others. Racing...end of the season i could name quite a few.

I've always said James was super talented. Just not the best racer by any means.

No, thankfully we haven't seen classless moves such as the one Stewart pulled on Reed. Sure, RC could have done the same thing to Stewart when he lapped him (and the entire field) at Millville in 2006 but thankfully he was way above that shit.

It would have been interesting to see the Stewart fanboys reaction had RC lapped JS, backed off to let him wobble past and then roosted him as he retook the lead.

Stewart has a lot of wins and he should be commended for that, but he raced every race to win that race - never considered the Championship. Hence lots of wins, and not many Championships since moving to the elite class.

He's talented for sure (not Pastrana talent, but close) but doing a scrub 20 years after Jojo Keller doesn't make you some kind of demi-god.

Say what??

James literally Threw that sucker so hard at 5th gear or what really ever, and Yes, Jojo did lean it and no one says else. It is not denied by anyone of your talented gurus. What does TP199 say on James Stewart? I know. So I will not need to tell I guess?

If we talk motocross talent and not boring titles, then js was kind of hard to beat ever since a 10 yr old or earlier Unbeatable is not far away. Yes TP199 is charming and seems the greatest guy, but really here...

It is not even relevant to post this when the rider you are ref to will tell you that you are wrong. To beat James they needed to ride like him. Jojo had talent and all. But we are not stupid. If I say "beyond all so far", then so be it. But to not accept stats, and compare to anything but among the greatest? Denying the impact he had on to what seems to me a new way to race.

It seems, in short, like James has other requirements to even qualify at his stats greatest active racer....why not? Since ha was out 2 years and still is #2 ever and best ever, when stats Do not give his impact justice?

The most hate I could bring is to feel sorry for a kid that knew he "had it" all his life and broke records and barriers.Imagine suddenly not being there? At 30, looping out at Daytona. And watch his past years there. The clips alone are more popular than latest SX main.

Yes, Jo-Jo, TP. Thats really far away to me. Rested my case.

This right here is the problem.....

Dipshit? Whatever. If you're trying to say that roxzen has won more titles or races than Stewart than you are wrong. It's that simple. I like roczen as much as the next guy......I like them all. But....are you honestly saying that you believe that roczen has had a better career than Stewart already. Maybe he will surpass Stewart one day. That's fine.....it could happen. But as of this point right now....roczen does not have the credentials of Stewart. No doubt he will probably get there......probably.

We are talking about a rider that went 24-0 one season in motocross. Several supercross championships including regional and big bike. Roczen doesn't even have a supercross title yet and you're telling me that he's surpassed Stewart. Roczen has a 450 motocross championship (along with a few others) and he's surpassed Stewart? Again.....you just don't know or you can't process the information.

Am I off my rocker here?

Why so much attention on what the Stewarts do or don't do? No disrespect intended -- James Stewart was a great champion -- but he's been washed up for a while, and, as best I can tell, he doesn't seem to know when to walk away.

And I can only look at so many pics of a semi-truck.
For the same reason everyone cares what the Kardashians do man.

Take away his wins and his titles, James has wowed the people more than anyone throughout his career.
This. RC may be the goat but JS7 is the most impressive rider of all time imo.

"Old & washed up, so why?" Is a recurring theme here.

It's like the haters think is Stewart fans will be expecting him to win again, when hopefully we are realistic enough to accept that won't happen.

Dolly Parton is old and washed up. She'll never have another number one hit. Yet she still has sell-out concerts.

What's so difficult to understand?
