Average lap doesn't mean much in timed qualifying as some dudes literally take two minutes to get around the track because they roll and look at so many sections, or attempt to stay out of the way of other guys laying down a heater.

I tried SX for a year, it's hard no doubt and I ended up on my head quite a few times. That's why I'm doing this gig instead now, ha!

Notice in my comparison of Golden and Ford I didn't bring up her one night show, because yes, it was somewhat of a gift. I brought up the rounds she didn't qualify and how much closer she was. When she tried at Atlanta last year (first east round) she was 10 seconds off the top qualifier and 3.5 seconds off the 40th qualifier...she actually beat five or six riders overall. And as I stated in that comparison itself, it wasn't a shot at Ford but a comment about how people view him vs her on support vs bagging on. On here it might be supportive but in the stands where I was, there were head shakes and comments from other riders about being happy they weren't in that practice.

All-in-all I simply agree with those questioning safety in this. Is it cool the guy is 40 and trying to qualify on a two-stroke? Hell yeah! Is it cool that he's rolling around and a higher safety concern than anyone else on the track? No, not at all. The grandfathered clause for this makes me scratch my head. As the current AMA rules only allow you to continue SX racing if you've made a night show within the last two seasons or otherwise you're back to Arenacross. Local AMA races, Amateur nationals or Pro nationals have nothing to due with keeping your SX eligibility under the current rules. One such friend of mine, Ryan Surratt, was actually in danger of losing his SX eligibility as he qualified through Arenacross two years ago but stayed amateur. If something happened and he didn't make a night show this year, he would have to go back to Arenacross. That goes for anyone in the newer generation, if you miss two seasons of SX night shows, you have to re-earn your way back in. Unless you're coming from outside of the US and have scored points in a MXGP with a FIM based license (not AMA based license).
ok, so you were fast, but not fast enuff ( no disrespect, quite the opposite) so how many seconds off the pace were you compared to our rider of interest?

Now this is some shit. Great thread.

Saw a guy doing the same thing at 05 Seattle SX. Had no business being out there. Was a hazard to himself and others.

Probably a bucketlist item of his to ride an SX track with the big dogs. Come to think of it, isn't that what anyone that throws a leg over a dirt bike dreams of at some point?

Didn't hurt anyone, so no harm no foul. But he (Ronnie and 05 Seattle guy), should probably give up the dream before they get hurt or hurt someone else.

Get on a bike and try it, or you can keep wondering why everyone was rallying behind a 40 yr old 2 stroke rider and not showing any attention to a certain woman rider gifted into a night show who cant beat top 5 ar a local B race

Ok ML, I am amazed I have to explain this to you, but here it goes. Average lap time is the most important time in this debate. It will not get you in the show like you said. But it tells how fast a rider was the other 5 or 6 laps he wasn't trying for his 1 hot lap. During that lap, he is basically a slow rider that everyone has to worry about when they are running their hot lap. So really, if Mark wants to complain about Ronnie getting in his way on 1 lap, in 1 practice session group on 1 obstacle. the first thing you would look at is his "average" lap times to see that 5 out of the 6 laps he tried to qualify, he was running :average" lap times in the 1:30. Meaning he was in the way of everyone else when he was riding his cool laps. I can also add that if a rider trying to qualify cannot pass a lapped rider, who is the bigger danger on the track.

Also since I know Mark personally and know he is a constant shit starter, when he called out another local rider, when he himself didn't even qualify, was a total bullshit move. Nothing would have been said to Mark, cause he does this crap all the time locally, if he would not have gotten on a national forum and bashed a guy for trying to accomplish his goals with potential sponsors possibly monitoring this post, and like Steinke, maybe got behind the guy cause he was on a 2 stroke. I believe he is getting funding from a local shop to line up on a 2 stroke. You've said this exact thing on other topics and posts.

What Mark failed to mention is, he went to an AMA official and publically complained about Mr Ford and asked why he was not being black flagged because he got in his way on 1 lap of 1 session over 1 obsticle. Another move that is total horse crud. At no time has the AMA put Mark in charge of who does and does not get to try and qualify and personally he probably attacked Ronnie cause he was getting attention on this web page and he was jealous. Kid is that bogus and I can almost garantee that's why he posted.

Also your comparison with Golden at a round on a track much smaller and in a less stacked class does not apply. But it does raise the question on why she was in B practice when all but 1 of the C group was faster than her. But all that doesn't matter. I do not remember Vicki getting on Vital and bashing Travis Johnson for her not qualifying for the night show in Atlanta (look up the results, he was 8 seconds a lap slower than Vicki). In fact nothing was every said about how HE was a danger and how the people sitting beside you where thanking they were not in that practice, and that was the B group.

Bottom line, if you didn't make the show, don't talk smack about other riders that didn't either, and try to use Ford as a reason why you didn't qualify. And with an average lap time in your group sessions at a 1:30, Mark was probably in other riders way also and he was another rider your friends where referring to while he was putting around doing more cool down laps that actually trying to qualify.

And I will also add, nothing was said about Mark until he started bashing another rider.

It cost $35 for one day, we do not train there, nor have we ever, nor has my kid ever been trained. You can go ride under a trail basis per day.

Glen Helen was a birthday present and my son is training to be a mechanical engineer and I wanted him to fly in an airplane. So what I basically did was combined the 2 and took him a GP. First time he ha ever flown, ever been to California and both of our first time at Glen Helen. Even though I have no less than 30 relatives that live 15 minutes from there. Oh and we slept in the rental car the first night and the airport the last night but we did get a hotel Saturday night so we could shower.

I pay for all bikes, parts, travel, food and entry fees, like a father, mechanic, driver, coach should. We have a 40 ft toy hauler that we like to 2 day camp at the local racers and usually try to ride amateur day at 3 nationals a year (Millville, Red Bud and Ironman), try. My son turned 16 3 months ago and while he is taking all honors classes, I do not want him working so he can concentrate on schoolwork, racing is extra, and if you want to know, he runs top 3 locally in the B class. I fund only what drive for success he gives me in return. In other words, I give him the level of support that he shows me he wants to do. I will fund at whatever level he strives to achieve but currently hes just interest in local racing, a couple nationals and hanging with friends at the track. Hes not 25 living at home if that's what your asking.

There is obviously more to this story than what I posted, I'm really not trying to be extremely mean to Mark so I am kind of refraining form saying "Everything" .

I was gonna type but I'm not gonna go there. Ill simply say, when I'm talking about parent money, the stuff you are listing is not the only things. Just gonna stop.

I took things very personal cause this guy has a track record that stretches back years. He had stopped his crap for a while and when he jumped on and bashed a fellow rider, I went off. Dude has no room to call out anyone. His comment was more like asinine, then benign.

You are clueless. Plain and simple. You have a hard on for this kid. Who respectully gave his own opinion, in which many of us here were thankful for getting. Let it go. You are wrong, you will always be wrong in this and every time you come back and pile it on, you prove how wrong you are and make yourself that much less respectable. Let it go. Let it go! Nobody cares about your hard on for this kid.

His comments were spoken with truth. He was on the track with him. He was 17 seconds faster than him. He was slowed by him on a fast lap. How is that asinine? Come on dude, let it go. Let it go!

So on average he was only 4.5 seconds slower than Mark, on a 3 year old 250 2 stroke and Mark is on a 17 YZ450 with every option Mommy and Daddy can buy for him.

And Marks BEST lap was 20 seconds off the pace of the leaders.....PER LAP.....on a 450 4 stroke.
Can someone explain to me how

2:26.945
1:30.817
1:58.035
3:05.803

averages out to only 4.5 seconds slower than

1:25.538

1:13.755
2:03.767
1:25.853

Those 2 sets of times dont even look remotely close. Why is he using the fast lap of 1:30.817 as the average? Is that because he only completed 1 actual lap?

The only reason I posted anything is because I knew I was the only one who actually knew how it was out there riding with him and to me I felt it was a danger. This motox guy lives a few hours from me and has done this same stuff over and over again he posted something on facebook and every local guy that has ever rode SX argued with him till they were blue in the face trying to explain to him how dangerous the guy being out there is because they have all rode sx and more importantly rode with Ronnie. He has 0 idea that average lap times mean nothing in a timed practice I pulled into the mechanic area 3 times to work on clickers and try different things on my suspension? does the clock stop when I do that?

Don't waste your time trying to argue there's a 600 page comment post on facebook of people already telling him he is wrong.

Clueless, really. Show me exactly where I bashed Mark BEFORE he started bashing another local rider.

Sorry if I'm the only one with a spine to call him out on it. And trust me, I've let it go, only responding to questions and BS accusations.

Can someone explain to me how

2:26.945
1:30.817
1:58.035
3:05.803

averages out to only 4.5 seconds slower than

1:25.538
1:22.174
1:30.153
1:13.755
2:03.767
1:25.853

Those 2 sets of times dont even look remotely close. Why is he using the fast lap of 1:30.817 as the average? Is that because he only completed 1 actual lap?
Because facts don't matter these days. But, if you want to use actual math, you are correct: it is -

2:15.40 average (Ronnie) versus 1:30.20 average (Mark). Ronnie was actually 45 seconds slower, not 4.5. In fact, Mark's average equals Ronnie's best.

If you throw the one really slow lap out of Mark's times, he did 4/5 laps at an average of 1:23.494, or nearly a minute faster than Ronnie's 4 laps.

Throw Ronnie's 3 minute lap out for comparison? Then Mark is only 35 seconds faster per lap average.

Some people seem to think Mark is a good young man. http://www.vitalmx.com/forums/Moto-Related,20/Mark-Weishaar-619,1300779
Notice how none of them are from the STL area, except PW481, who I also know that used that national forum post to shamlessly plug his track of the back of another rider. I guess I know now where Mark gets it front, hijacking other riders post for attention, since PW481 practically raised Mark from his through his riding career.

Didnt see you at WW this year Harry, had some friends with us, could have used that BBQ.

None of us here see it as bashing. Mark has solid points that actually make sense. You, however, nobody agrees with. Nobody cares about what your local guys think. Mark was actually on the track and I think it was ML also saying riders couldn't believe he was out there. Like another poster said, seems like you've got quite the hard on for Mark.

A post of your friends that spun off form the original post. The original post is a almost every rider in D!7 and D18 telling you you are an absolute idiot and you never call out a local rider. Even half of your buddies on the side post of your friends are telling you you should never have got on a public forum and bashed another rider. Hell every local pro says you are right about the lap times but are completely wrong for getting on a forum and bashing the guy.

Now you are trying to start more MADE UP BS.

I complained about you bashing a local rider on a national website, nothing else lap times where only mentioned to show YOU DIDNT QUALIFY EITHER and have room to critique anyone. You can make up what ever else BS you want to talk about, but the topic is you bashing another rider when he has the same right to try and qualify as you do.

And if you cant pass a lapped rider in practice, you shouldn't be on the track either.

Sorry, since you don't know about the 50 other side conversations going on, 95% of the people agree with me, they just chose not to get drug into a forum in get hammered for telling the truth, so be it.

And if you don't consider hijacking a thread about rallying behind a rider for racing A1 on a 2 stroke when the guy has sponsors paying the bills, YOU have no clue.

What question did you ask that didn't get answered?

I, along with everyone here get that you and Ronnie are friends and I commend you for sticking up for your buddy.
BUT...1 post would've been enough. The continuing in bashing Mark is complete overkill. Everyone here now knows that you don't like him. So enough is enough. You have your opinion and a lot of others feel opposite of you. The bottom line is that Ronnie's fastest lap time was the slowest of anyone and it was 17 seconds slower than Mark's. I'm not here to say if Ronnie has the right to be out there or not, it's not my job. If he wants to go out and spend the money to try, that's his prerogative. At some point though you have to be intelligent enough and know that you are putting not only the other riders, but himself at risk.

Hell, I am the same age as Ronnie, have a 2 stroke, and if Mark is willing to give up my number 619, maybe I'll try to qualify next year!

SIKE....aint no way in hell I'm getting out there!

Show me where Mark bashed Ronnie. I still dont see it. He presented facts. Wether you like them or not. He spoke what is percieved as truth. Again, show me where Ronnie was bashed. He wasnt.

The guy basically said he can do better next week below his latest instagram post. Without injuries we all improve with experience. Not to mention the rain and hardening agent had to make it harder for a 2stroke. Just let it go and see what happens at round 2.
