If and a big if , Kenny wins both the SX ,MX titles this year. Where do you rank him with the all time greats. Dungeys resume is pretty strong and still a current rider. Kenny has a great resume now. GP, mxdn, ama 450 title. . My top guys are Rc easy #1, RV, McGrath real close for 2/3 and dungey is creeping up there. Kenny is in that elite group, and I m a huge tomac, metty fan.

Based on resume, right with Jeff Emig.

it depends on how he would win. for me rv for example will always be a greater champ than dungey simply because of how dominant rv was speedwise.

Roczen is a 85cc world champion, mx2 world champion, des nation champion, mx2 SX champion, 2 time 450 US national champion and maybe soon to be a 450 sx champion? Who knows..

Thats a list few other riders have done. And hes still one of the youngest in the 450 class.

It's too early to ask that question right now I think. Kenny could win both titles this year and that would put him high on the list of greats. But he still has plenty of championships left in him after this year, which will only elevate him higher

It's too early to predict that. Like RG1 mentioned, he has plenty of 450 titles coming his way. It's easy to forget that he is born in 1993. Only 2 years older than Cooper Webb.

He was born in 1994. He's 22(!) years old

Oh, i remembered that Roczen was born in 93 and Herlings in 94. Well i was wrong!

Even more impressive, so Roczen is 1(!) year older than Webb. Amazing.

Yep April 1994, as weird as it is, he's one year younger than Jmart (only two years older than Cianciarulo! Hell I thought Adam was still on the mini, lol!). We tend to forget how young he's cause he never really struggled at any time in his carreer even moving up at a younger age than his competition. He's got plenty of time to write his own history.

I think that is a big key, TMV.

He is a generational talent and he hasn't had any big injuries and missed races. The only struggle he has had was in 2015. Other than that he has moved rapidly forward in his career.

That's pretty close to being right on par with Emig.

125 national champ
2 time 250 national championship
250 supercross champ.
And at least two des nations titles

I think Emig is a good comparison not only in titles but in attitude too. Also MC, after the dull years of the GOAT and the Ryans we finally have a charismatic guy having fun racing dirtbikes like in the 90's. Good times ahead.

He has time to become the new goat. 5 more years minimum, he will get 10 titles mx/SX. Then he might finish his career with a MXGP title

To me, beating a guy who had the title means a lot...

For example. Dungey could end up with +5 titles above RV... I'd still never rank him ahead, because RV wiped the floor with him 4 straight and each time outdoors.

So Kenny can beat Dungey this year and if he beats his records, it ranks well. But he has to do both, next year don't help. ie James winning in 2007 after RC left.

The hard ones to rank are if you're comparing little or no title guys who raced freaks against different era dudes who maybe won a bit more. Ie Chad and particularly KW. Chad is waaaaay better than his 3 premiere titles might rank him against some other legends, and KW is a genius on a moto-cycle, but they lived amongst the two most dominant reigns in moto and with JS to boot. That's pretty fucking unlucky... Hasn't KW got 8 vice-champion positions to his cred?

Well you have to count in his German national and international championships as well. He has several of them. Most of them were at a record age

Im with crush to a point..its my opinion and we are all allowed one but i wont ever put dundey with rc js mc and rv..they all won their respective titles as the "fastest rider" mc never had to deal with js,rc did and was faster outdoors but not indoors even though he won the title in 06..the reason for my favour for stew as an all timer is races like daytona 2011...no other human was going to pre jump that shit..Toronto 2014 no one could jump that rythem every lap and make it look like a piece of piss and his general balls out approach to racing...shit high point 06 any one else would have died after that crash..its a dangerous game but im more inclined to like the the guys who dare to take it to the limits..ie rc.js.

Oh if he wins both titles this year, and dungey retires after this year. By the time he's 27 he should have a pretty good resume lol

MC did race a lot of champs tho...

Stanton, Frodaddy, MX-Kied, The Rock, Henry, Lamson, Tortelli, Pichon, Albertyn, Lusk, Huffman, Roncada, Ferry, Dowd... And then dudes who didn't but were rockets, Bradshaw, Ward, Button, Reynard, Lawrence....

Really, MC was the first demi-god in terms of wins... which is why you say he didn't face RC/JS. It's almost normal for us now, because of MC, RC and James... and RV to an extent. But give it a few years, it'll likely return to 80s type days... Maybe Kenny is RJ and Eli Wardy etc.

Cart ahead of the horse. He didnt beat dungey last year and he probably wont this year. If dungey had his start, not sure he would have gotten around him. They were very equal in speed with nobody in front of them. We will see when he gets a bad start if he pulls an rv and does whatever it takes to get to the front fast. He probably will.

Emig did win the overall in 125/250 and 500 at the Des Nations through the years on tracks he had never been too.... that's pretty damn impressive. Especially 96 jump on a turd and smoke all the 500 GP regulars.

Roczen already is easily the best foreign born MX rider the AMA has ever had, easily eclipsing JMB. SX is another story so far.

Dungey is so so much better than MC outdoors it's almost laughable to compare their statistics. 4 outdoor titles to 1, 46 wins to 17. Let us pretend on a MX forum that we know our shit. In MCs defense he didn't have to deal with RC/JS but outdoors he had Emig to deal with.

You don't think he needs to win a SX title to eclipse JMB? Bayle was pretty damn good, he won everything there is to win except the MXdN and he did it in such a short amount of time. Don't get me wrong, I think Kenny will eclipse him, I just don't know if he has yet

This made me think, so far in the history of SX there has only been 2 European champions in the 450 class (i think, could be wrong). The very first season it was Karsemakers from Netherlands who won the title, and in the 90s JMB from France got one to. So to me it's pretty epic that Roczen can become the 3rd Euro rider to get a "450" sx title!

That's why I said MX not SX, and in SX it's not JMB he is chasing its Reed.

Ah yes, sorry I misread. I would agree with that statement. He has a long long way to go to eclipse Reed though
