MX sim is not as hard as people make it out to seem, and no the game is definitely not "broken". Because it takes more than 5 minutes to master, its labeled as too hard lol. Pick it up one night before you go to bed, and play it for an hour. I guarantee you will figure out how to "ride in a straight line". If its too hard right at the beginning, you're in luck because there is an arcade mode that you can turn on in the settings. That will let you learn the settings. Then you can turn arcade mode up, and turn your stability setting up. Start riding, and lower it a little bit every so often.
Nothing compares to the flow of a real bike on a real track, but if you want to get close to that, MX sim is the best product out there. Nailing a section that you've been struggling with is an awesome feeling!
Bottom line is, MX sim is the most realistic MX game you can play. That's just how it is. If that is not what you're looking for then that's fine too. But if you want realism, you cannot beat it.
Sadly the arcade games from the 2000's have been the best so far.............. if that says anything.
No major studio is going to pick up on this anymore, the height of our sport's popularity was in the early 2000's sadly, mainstream wise.
The whole " extreme / alternative " sport thing is dead, look at the x games.
I'm hooked on world of tanks right now. everytime I play it. I think I wish these guys would make mx. so much detail ,mods, great competition.we still have gravel slide sound effects in sx,lol. maybe someday.
I guess our sport is just to small for it, to make it worth the cost of creating a game anno 2016. We could have brands like redbull or monster energy be the sponsor of a game that is tied to a series they sponsor.. (like ama outdoors or sx) together with a game companny but it's just not happening.
Guess i'm thankfull for guys like Milestone for creating the MXGP series. The games might not be perfect but atleast its new mx games we get
I want a game that's easy to play but hard to do.. Does that make any sense? Even though I wouldn't call myself a sprintcar fan My absolute favourite game was a World Outlaw Sprintcar game and it was so simple to actually go around but was hard to go really fast, every race seemed to be different there were varying speeds of drivers and you'd have to work through a field to win a race or get past lappers that didn't all do the same thing.. Had a great career and you actually had to put a series together to win one, it was sick! Sure that's prob all easy when it's just round and round and the graphics didn't need to be anything outside the track but still it was 2002! Surely there's been enough advancements to replicate the race play
There's a reason madskills is so popular and addictive
Pit Row
Not ever game is going to be for every person. They all have their pro's and con's.
I think the best MX games made are MXGP 2, Reflex for PC (due to the excellent replica track DLC), MX Sim and then the old EA Supercross 2000. However, one important aspect of what brings Reflex for PC and MX Sim way down, for me, is the lack of trained AI by the CPU. Everyone assumes everyone plays online but that is not the case, at all.
At my current residence I still do not have high speed internet. I use Mifi units and the like to achieve internet access but everything is capped so try doing any gaming with those limits. I'm not alone. Lots of people are in the same situation, even here in 2016. It made me wonder so I actually posed the question to one of the main programmers at Rainbow Studios who I often had corresponded with. My question was what percentage of gamers play online? I figured it was prob 85% play online.
Did you know that it is the exact opposite? Overwhelmingly, more gamers play offline. Like, I'm talking the same kinda numbers but in the opposite way. I was shocked but this is the case from a very reliable source.
In my case, what I want in a MX game is the same thing that Madden or 2K offers to their sports franchises. A realistic, authentic, LICENSED MX product that also has competent AI. You could call it Simcade if you like. It doesn't have to be a total simulator but treat the sport like the 2K series treats basketball. Ever played the 2K basketball games? You feel like you are part of the NBA experience. Their AI is nothing to sneeze at and there is a lot of work done to make sure their games DO have programmed, competent AI. I don't expect this of one ma, (Josh), who makes Sim, or for the creators of the Reflex custom tracks. They aren't making tracks for the masses. But it is important, nonetheless, to me to have this aspect in a MX game. I realize its apples to oranges with budgets when you're talking 2K compared to anything our sport would get but even MXGP 2 offers a great feeling of being in the experience of the GPs and also does a pretty decent job programming computer AI...which, again, is needed if you are not playing online.
I love spinning laps on Reflex for PC on the excellent user made replica SX tracks. But riding solo gets old after a while. Same with MX Sim. Those games have zero computer AI programmed so it really is an aspect that detracts from those games...for me. I realize I'm one of the few in that situation on here...but, according to the numbers, more people than you think play offline than on so it again strengthens the need for a new MX game featuring the AMA riders that can offer more like what MXGP 2 does for their series.
Just a different take on it. I was shocked to hear the numbers that there are GREATLY more offline gamers than online gamers. It's something you never hear about and it's weird because, these days, everything seems made for online gaming with DLC, etc.
It would be nice if Reflex for PC or MX Sim had trained AI. Neither does, so it does change my personal way of looking at it and steers me more towards the console titles that do some of the time.
Actually, if I had my wish, EA or Codemasters would make a licensed MX/SX game and give it the same treatment they give their other sports. That would be my ultimate game for my preferences. As great as MX Sim and Reflex are they still do not have a full license where you can really role play like you can in NBA2K, Madden, etc. MXGP 2 and EA Supercross 2000 are the only games in our sport to come close. And yeah, the gameplay of Reflex on PC and Sim are far superior but they aren't what NBA2K is for basketball or MXGP 2 is to our sport. It's a different approach. Both are valid.
You could skip 16 rounds of supercross because it boring as hell and have half the riders unplayable by the start of the outdoors because of injury.
Be a cracking game.
