Good question. I have been wondering this same thing. Hopefully Feld woke up and realized it was a bad idea and let it quietly die.....

I sure hope so ...

In surfing, they used to have some events worth more points than others. I think they also had more prize money at those events, but certain big stops would be worth double points. So winning that event would be like winning two of the regular events. Maybe that's an idea for Feld. Make Vegas double points, and maybe one event in the middle of the season. It would build more drama heading into Vegas.

I feel like if the change was coming we would have heard about it by now (nothing in SX is kept secret for too long).

I'll admit, much to the dismay of others here, I was looking forward to giving the new format a go.

I really like the idea of multiple Main Events with shorter lap times like the monster cup. It made for pretty interesting racing.

I hope they took that idea behind the barn and shot it. . . a lot.

I wouldn't mind a chase/playoff type format as a trial but I think you'd need to have a minimum participation requirement to qualify.

I also like the idea of multiple, shorter mains per event.

Monster's probably a little busy right now attempting to secure that other series that has a Chase.

Maybe this is why its on the back burner. Why introduce two significant changes in consecutive seasons?
