Is Geico just not doing a 450 ride this year?

so why has JMart got a 450 deal with Geico for 2018 then?

Same reason they gave Tomac, Bogle and Stewart 450 rides, to either help the rider out, keep them on Red for Honda, or in J-Mart's case, it was probably the negotiated into his deal. Geico & Honda wanted him to win them a 250 title, he wanted a guaranteed ride on a 450 in 2018.

If FC/Geico wanted a true 450 effort, they would have one, with multiple riders.

450 is not in geico s budget. They are a 250 team ,not sure on kdub, hahn, tomacs contract. Bogle rode free. Jmart deal included a 450 ride in 2018.

You sure factory Honda is paying Martins 450 contract? Not what I have heard. Although geico is the factory Honda 250 effort.

With Trump in the white house he'll be lucky to not be detained let alone have a ride.

He's referring to when Pourcel sat out after being a 250 champion. Pourcel had been partially paralyzed earlier in his career and refused to race for free. When the Kawasaki 450 ride didn't materialize for him, he just sat out.

Malcolm dropped the mic after his regional title. Once he'd finished fishing he found that someone else had picked it up.

Not a smart move to sit out the outdoors but even tougher if he's trying to make his father and brother part of a deal. He's not on the level to make those demands.

Hope he gets something, I like the kid but seems like he's been badly advised, probably by family.

Transworld did an interview with him on their facebook page and asked him about teams. And he said straight up that he doesnt have anything for A1. He will be showing up racing as a privateer and hoping to get a fill in if someone gets hurt. I really feel for him. I think he has deserved a spot in a factory team! I do think that skipping outdoors was a huge mistake for him though.
Your last sentence could not be more on the money. Mookie my man what were you thinking?

I like both the Stewarts and personally am surprised they've never been on the same team before. I also think it is extremely impressive the way Malcolm stepped up his game as I understand it he got a later start than his big brother.

I am guessing here, so don't take it as truth, but your train of thought is probably spot on.

I would assume that Malcolm was still in talks with FC/Geico/HRC about that ride when he was racing in Germany and that FC/Geico helped get him to the German SX race. Now, I would imagine that the Geico/HRC deal is dead and off the table, hence the bike switch and Stewart/Seven bike livery. I would bet that Bercy/Lille is happening on Stewart's dime, not FC/Geico or Honda's...

I don't think either Stew would still be racing if they had to endure the pain that Pourcel has had to endure to do it ... He has something they don't...

None of the guys currently running top-10 could come back from what CP went through (well, maybe Dungey or Canard...) race at such high level. I totally respect Pourcel for what he has achieved after his setbacks.
