This brand buys pieces from Honda, KTM, Yamaha... all the big OEMs and build 'AJP' bike. Their goal is to create affordable and easy to handle bikes.

How can the forks on the bike in the top picture can achieve full travel without the tire hitting the frame.....

So they just buy other brands parts to build this? Lol
Laugh all you want, but it is interesting and encouraging to me.

I want to be able to buy a reasonably priced bike with good stuff on it, it don't need the latest and greatest technology that they are using for Supercross. It's honestly kinda ridiculous that there is no "middle ground" bike available.

Interesting. What material is the frame made of on the top bike?

I've seen an air cooled model that looked pretty cool. Looked like a crf450 with an xr400 motor.

I'd buy the hell out of these. I don't need an mx bike to trail ride with.

Those frames look really weird. Why not stick to something well tested and proven (steel) and experiment with probably the most important part of the motorcycle?

Earlier this year at an Enduro in NJ, there were a couple of guys riding these a few rows ahead of me. The guys riding them moved along pretty good in the woods, I was surprised to say the least.

I think there is a dealer somewhere in the southern NJ area?

Whenever someone makes a thread titled "how to fix our sport" everyone says "more affordable, accessible bikes to get entry level people into the sport."

Whenever someone makes a thread with an affordable entry level bike, everyone scoffs at it.

Alloy frames have been around for 20 years, they've been tested quite a bit I think. Regardless, there's more to a frame than the material it's made of.

A friend of the family said that it's his best steering bike he ever owned. Also I talked with someone about it and he said that AJP used to work with Husaberg parts, Honda Parts, ... that is just what I know.

Would rather pick up a ten year old YZ250 for that price.

Cheap indeed, in every way.
True pieces of crap, with the slowest chines engine you can find.

So it looks like its a typical Zongshen engine/Chinese Frame, with upgraded suspension, plastic, and tires. Admittedly, the suspension and plastic are the worst parts of most Chinese bikes -- aside from the wheels. Their ad copy doesn't tell who's building the wheels, so hopefully that's European sourced.

Especially since their pricing is understandably way above what other Chinese-platform, full sized are going for (See the Asiawing/SSR).

The problem with bikes like these are that you can get good used bikes for 2000-4000.

Local shop carries em and I've checked em out a few times going in there. For an entry-level bike they don't seem bad at all. I've never rode one but they apear to be a higher quality than typical china quality entry-level bikes.

I had the opportunity to ride some AJP product this summer. Spent the day testing for Traction Erag (trail/off-road oriented magazine) We rode the PR3, PR4 and PR5 (the one at the top of this page) For whatever reason only the 3 and 4 are touched on in the article. Check it out if you like. http://www.tractionerag.ca/nov2016/index.html?utm_source=Traction+eRag+… The cover article is worth the read as well!
