I always thought their shoes were lame, but if you look at original post of this thread showing Nate Adams social media page, it appears that 837 (probably more now) people including Jimmy Button actual like the news that DC is throwing in the towel.

If you think that's what liking a post on Instagram means you're out of touch...

Looks like they only dropped a few of them. A few weeks ago I looked on the site and there were more athletes on the moto team then. I remember seeing some names likes Nate adams, Tom pages, pastrana and some other FMX guys on the site. Right now only these 6 are on there:

Adidas is a team sponsor of TLD correct? I wonder if they're going to sponsor individual athletes anytime soon, if they aren't already.
They support the legendary Cole Seely!

There must be a whole lot of money in Chinese shoes for them to be paying everybody to go ride bicycles, dirt bikes and burn rubber through the streets in rally cars. Funny how when the money dries up, the butthurt ensues.

Maybe if they made a shoe for us non-flat brim hat, non- ear tucking, non- tall black sock wearing boring old guys like me they would have been more profitable...Huh

Lol, I don't think boring old guys are really their target audience Tongue
The shoes I recently bought off them are pretty ''casual'' though if you ask me:

They were the first not not look like a MX boot. Now every manufacturer has a pair in their line.

This has nothing to do with moto, DC isn't making money on their own side of things. No one buys their products besides middle of the mall / outlet clowns, people completely out of touch with modern trends. " Bro's " if you will.

You ever notice the correlation between monster stickers on f 150's and tribal tattoo dc wearing clowns?

They started as a skateboarding company, no one in skateboarding has chosen to wear their shoes unless paid to do so in, 10 years? Maybe longer?

Build a good product. Market it to a wide audience... They missed a few of the keys to success along the way.

DC Shoes was just trowing around with money without any strategy behind it. Last year, after the retirement of Ryan Villopoto, they signed James Stewart! I called mine man at DC Shoes and said to him: WTF men, really Stewart? He's a great rider but before you know it he will be retired also. I didn't even started to talk about potential injuries... I said to him: for the money that someone like James Stewart costs you guys you can sign without a doubt: Jorge Prado Garcia, Hunter Lawrence, Jago Geerts and Austin Forkner. Those four can give you great visibility in Europe, Oceania and USA. But it was already too late! Unsure

James Stewart doesn't cost near the money he used to... There wasn't much spent there.

I do have a question for the masses... I understand supporting companies that support moto, but why the pitch fork treatment when one is no longer able to invest into it, especially after 15 years and spending millions in our sport? Putting money into the athletes pockets and allowing them to make a living at what they love to do?

This goes for the energy drink brands and other companies that the masses complain about their brands and logos, would you rather see how things would be if they never dropped a single dime in motocross?

In my experience, smaller industries and "core" industry supporters love to bite the hand that feeds them. There will always be something wrong. When a company gets too big then they are lame. It's been that way in the BMX industry for years which has led to rider owned companies sprouting up and over saturating the market to the point that they can barely survive. Nobody can decide what company to buy from and what company to like.

Like you said ML, they invested millions and I am glad that DC gave support to both MX and BMX as long as they did. If it was uninformed middle America supporting us through buying DC Shoes then so be it! They make up most of our population anyway and in my experience doing stunt demos and autograph signings at middle America malls for DC, those were the people and locations that were the most hyped and seemed to enjoy it the most.

DC was actually pretty innovative.

The snowboard boots? Again the first company to make one that didn't look like a 15lb snowboot.

Thank you. See my post above and the "jeez not this shit again" reply it got. Fickle bunch here, lining up for the free shit and whining out their asses when the well runs dry. Like that S word in politics, it's all grand until you run out of other peoples money.

Well you wouldn't catch me in a pair of DCs even if they sponsored some cool people and stuff (MC, Ken Block, Villo). Apreciate where they came from and the things they did and support they gave. But as soon as a company sells out to a big corpo whore house, well then it's all over, jump off the train while you can. Take Oakley for example. DONE

I don't like Skate shoes or flat shoes , I like the way they look , my feet don't like the way they feel.

Moto is all about free stuff, cut that off and you suck.

My pitch fork comes from the simple fact that they're a " core " skate shoe company who hasn't made quality footwear since their first 10 years or so. Compared to any other shoe on the market, skate oriented or not, they have the lowest quality, least comfortable and by far the least durable shoes in the skate market... They alienated their core market for a fashionable image and widespread appeal, anyone who skates knows they're trash compared to what else is out there, and they all spend their money on those companies who give back to skateboarding and develop better purpose built footwear..

Maybe dc killed themselves with all their expansion and becoming a mall oriented brand? Because for the first 10 years they really had the market in skating.

Nothing but thanks to DC from me, they've supported me and my efforts with race tracks since 2009. They've had a lot of changes over the years, mostly due to budget constraints from Quicksilver that affected what DC could do.

I feel bad for the guys that were depending on them day to day to keep racing/competing and the crew from DC that may not have a job anymore. They didn't really leave anyone hanging.

The only thing that affects me now is where to hang out in the pits at Anaheim? Lots of great stories from the DC motorhome.

I think the problem for a lot of people with these kind of sutuations is twofold. Firstly, We're all just pissed off because we see a lot more sponsors going out than coming in and secondly, when a brand cuts down on its sponsorships, moto is nearly always the first one to go (see Volcom, Nike, etc).

I along with many other people thought DC was 'core' moto until death. They'd been in the sport for so long and had a bunch of awesome ideas along the way, like their "refuse to lose" campaign where they gave a few hundred bucks to the last guy to make out of the LCQ into the main.

Reports like this just plain suck. Are there any skate shoe companies still involved in moto? DVS has like 3 riders and Adidas only sponsors TLD KTM as a team as far as I know.

Adidas supports Cole Seely and at some point Justin Brayton. Not sure if he's still supported.

How long can you expect a small shoe company to prop up our small sport? Appreciate them for what they've done and continue to support them as a thank you. Maybe they will return.
