LP Motocross changed their site and it disappeared. I had it saved until a coffee spill fried the hard drive. Shit, I can't even prove I talked to the man and he'll probably never admit to it.
Oh well.
I figure it's good for a laugh, so here's the interview I did with the infamous Ronnie Mac in 2011.
Ronnie Mac is an up-and-coming shredder--from somewhere between here and nowhere-that burst onto the scene a couple years ago when a video of him riding on Trey Canard’s property surfaced on YouTube. To this day, Trey has no idea how this man they call Ronnie Mac got access to his property, who he is or where the hell he came from. Like crop circles in Iowa, the phenomenon known as Ronnie Mac is filled with more questions than there are possibly answers for. The video that was made on Trey’s property was released and swept through the world wide web like a wild fire. Ronnie Mac went from the best kept secret in MX to an instant superstar in a matter of days, and the buzz surrounding him has done nothing but get louder since.
Ronnie Mac was once again spotted and caught on camera for what looked like an open ride day at a local MX track, but has not been seen since. Nobody really knows for sure who Ronnie Mac is or where he came from; all we can do is speculate. Some fans speculate he is a simple man who wants to ride only for himself and has no interest in the fanfare that has come since his video. Others believe he may be a fugitive from justice, running from the law and the dozens of women who have come out since his recent fame to claim he is the father of their illegitimate children. Whatever the case, the man can ride a dirt bike and, for that reason we at LPmotocross.com wanted to track down the mystery man and have a sit down with him.
Getting an interview with Ronnie certainly wasn’t easy, but after a friend of a friend contacted Ronnie Mac’s uncle’s cousin’s girlfriend, she called a buddy who’s grandpa knows one of Ronnie Mac’s baby’s mommas. She sent over Ronnie’s e-mail address, and Ronnie reluctantly agreed to talk to us if we signed fifteen confidentiality agreements and agreed to paint his mobile home for him. So I sat down with Ronnie in Shady Acres trailer park in a location I can not disclose for a chat and this is how it went.
LPMX: Ronnie, first of all, thank you very much for agreeing to talk with Lpmotocross.com.
RM: Yeah no problem, when do I get my beer?
In due time. (Laughs)
I’m not laughing. A deals a deal, where’s the beer?
OK, here you go. Can I ask the questions now?
It’s your dime, ask away.
Thank you. First off there are a ton of rumors as to where exactly you are from. Care to tell us where the Ronnie mac story begins?
Right here in the good ol’ US of A man, these colors don’t run.
When did you get your first dirt bike and how old were you?
I popped a wheelie right out of my Momma’s belly.
We have all noticed there is no man alive that rides a dirt bike quite like Ronnie Mac. Who taught you how to ride?
I taught myself, because I knew no one would be as good as me.
Have you ever actually raced a dirt bike before?
Is that a serious question? Hell yeah I have!
In your first video you mentioned that you would be “Going out for SX”. It’s been a couple years since then, is that still the plan? There have been east coast lites rumors attached to your name.
I wouldn’t ride one of them little wimpy 250s. I’d have to be on a 450 or some kind of Harley Davidson hybrid bike to jump the big shit.
Have there have been any contract offers for Ronnie Mac?
Blanco Basura keeps me hydrated, that’s for sure.blanco-basura
Doesn’t Blanco Basura mean white trash in Spanish?
Ronnie Mac is American. I don’t speak that Spanish stuff.
I’ll assume you mean the new Blanco Basura beer. I could see them capitalizing on your audience. Speaking of your audience, how do you feel about the popularity of your videos and the fame that has come with there popularity?
I knew it was just a matter of time before I blew up. I had built some jumps in the trailer park and everyone loved it, so I knew if the folks at shady acres trailer park liked it, America would like it.
Vital MX is in love with Ronnie Mac. You just mention you on there message board and the rumors and speculation fly. What is your opinion of the guys on Vital MX?
There are some good ol’ boys on there. Then there are a lot of wanna bees on there. Lots of guys who have heard from someone’s cousin’s neighbor’s brother who had a pit pass once and now they think they’re some kind of industry insider.
When can we expect the next Ronnie Mac video? Can my boss Luke Parmeter the LP from LPmotocross.com shoot it?
Well I’ve got my own video crew down here in Oklahoma I’m going to have to use. But when the weather warms up, you can expect some greatness.
(Laughs) Had to ask. Can’t blame me for trying. Thanks for your time and answering some questions? I think?
I believe you still owe me some beer and hookers, but you’re welcome. Got a light?
After transcribing this interview I realized we really don’t know any more about Ronnie than we did going in to the interview, and quite frankly we may never know more about the man they call Ronnie Mac. What I do know is the man is a true blue working class hero, and there is just no telling the long term impact he will have on our sport.
I guess only time will tell.
I'm glad those guys can just have fun with it.
