This plate is a plasticwerks HRC replica, they pop up on eBay every so often and usually aren't cheap. I got lucky and had a friend who somehow located two of them! I'm saving the second one for another project I've got in mind. Plasticwerks is out of business now, I'm trying to locate the guy who owned it in hopes of figuring out what happened to the tooling. With some luck it's all just collecting dust somewhere.

So I can't hope to hold a candle to the Full Tilt build, But I figured everyone might be stoked on my latest project. I inherited this bike from my uncle when he passed last fall, he had been a CR250 fan since forever and up until 2000 had bought a new one every few years like clockwork. I decided that the best way to honor his memory was to build this bike into a replica of the factory bikes from 2000. Below is the official "before" photo, and several more of where i'm at with it currently.

Not much to report right now, the suspension is at TBT for coatings, springs, & valving. I swapped the '00 forks for a set off an '07, because I'm told that's a little closer to what the team ran in '00 and I had them lying around anyway so why not?
All that's left at this point is to build the wheels, and the only parts I'm waiting for besides the suspension is the MotoStuff hrc replica front rotor and a couple other miscellaneous small oem parts... Not getting a ton done at the moment because it's 112 outside and that makes it flat out miserable in my non air conditioned garage

Very nice. I had a 2000 as well. Great bike, and a great way to pay tribute. Are you gonna ride it or just finish up and make it a memorial piece?

Making some progress again after a month of it being too hot to work in the garage... Got the Classic front disc from Motostuff, and found a set of the HRC replica case covers on eBay. Should have the suspension back this week, after that she's almost done!

Just what I was thinking.
Great build, wrong seat cover.
I'd go all black if the original one isn't available anymore.

Yeah, i work at Seat Concepts, the cover in the pic is one of our Supergrip Competition covers, which work really well (shameless plug) but isn't exactly period accurate. I had our sew shop whip up a basic cover to look like the team ones, I just haven't put it on yet...

why mention that you are not a CR250 guy. why must everyone around here quantify every statement they make with "who they are".

I don't understand anyone that only like certain brands of bikes. such small thinking. I've never seen a motocross bike that i didn't like.

When one uses an italian Husky as his avatar, that goes without saying.

Looking great, however I'm very disappointed with the amount of beer in your fridge...

Ive ridden the 2000 CR250 a couple times back in the day it wasnt bad seemed to be a cross between the 1st gen and 3rd gen aluminum frame. Engine was good but so was allthe hondas with that engine back to 1993. Never remembered anything exceptional abouth the 00 CR anyone shed some light on why these bikes were so loved back then? I was planning in getting an 02 and up CR250 AFTER i get my primary bike .... the YZ250 circa 2003/2004

I mentioned it because I come from an era when they were THE bike to have.... The safe option, you know what your getting with a Honda.... Blah blah blah.... Yet I never once desired one, never drooled over one never even really looked twice at them but I just wanted to let the original poster know that he has impressed me with his work and back story and for the first time I can remember I have looked twice at a CR250 and I appreciate the effort he is putting in to the old girl to hounor his Uncle.... That is all.

Got the Suspension back from TBT today! I swapped out the stock '00 forks for a set from an '07, because I'm told that the '07 forks are as close as I'm going to get to what the factory Honda team was running on '00-01, plus I already had them collecting dust in my garage from a previous project, so why not? I had TBT do their full A-Kit treatment to everything and I'm super impressed with how it all turned out. All that's left at this point is to go through the wheels, then she'll be ready to ride!! Finally all the parts to finish this beast are all under one roof! (and now I can let my poor bank account rest for a bit)

Beautiful forks (and bike)!
Would deserve better looking triple clamps, though...

Very clean man. I like that you kept true to using the original front fender and not chose to go with an 04 style fender. These details make a bike that much better looking to me. I owned the 2001 125, loved the look of these bikes. Keep it up!
