I ran mine 60:1 with motorex as the manual recommends, jetting stock but switched to 450 main jet. Ran pretty darn good. I'm in Michigan so fairly low elevation. But I'm done with the bike for a while as I broke my femur last weekend when I came up short on a triple at a local track. Not sure what the future has for my bike, may be seeing it in the classified section, may not idk.

Sorry to hear that dude.

I've been thinking about selling my 4 strokes and getting into a 250 2 stroke more and more lately.

Let me borrow that thing and race Freelin with it this weekend. Ya know just to see if I like it Smile

If anyone is confused: It's pretty much the same shit but different numbers, EU95 octane is the same as US91 octane and EU98 octane is the same as US93 octane.

WOW. That's ugly man! Hope it's an OK rehab and you'll be back on the bike in spring. Jesus that's an ugly xray.
The pre surgery X-ray was bad, I didn't get one after surgery I was too out of it to think about it, but they straightened me out good, I was able to walk with a walker the morning after. If I do get back on the bike moto will most likely be out of the question unless I get the rod removed, which is all I do so as long as I can get the time to have the second surgery that's probably what will happen.

That's a bummer dude. Heal up soon. I did the same thing in '08 and still have the rod in.

Flywheel weight are amazing....its like traction control.......instead of the rear wheel spinnning like crazy....the bike actually gets that insane hit&power to propel the bike forward .....when its very hard pack nearly blue groove like some Socal tracks can get in the summers...the 11oz Fww is the tool to use...9oz for regualr Mx tracks with loam..or something u can get the bike into......Digger29 use to post all kinds of info on the Fww....all the pro used 16oz or heavier.....john dowd had a 18 up to a 21 oz flywheel on their factory bikes....traction is the name of the game.....not hit&spin......forward motion.....i encourage every 2stroke owner to try one...even if its only 6oz..it cheap and easy traction thats needed on these machines........

I'm noticing a TINY bit of spooge on the cusp of my silencer end cap which I've never had on my 2014.
Also might be a factor of not washing the bike between two dusty rides. Not sure.

I just cracked 8 hrs on mine Monday. Still leaving me with a big smile.
Trying to relearn riding a two stroke with minimal clutch use. It likes to roll on and really behaves better.
Forks are getting better. At 150 lbs I'm thinking of going one spring rate lighter on the shock. It breaks loose easily but I haven't played too much other than highspeed compression.

Ripping it last Friday at fod in Millville I did notice how quiet the stock silencer is. On the bike it sounds great but spectators can't hear it at all. Not like the deano vid.
It for sure falls down quickly at the top of the power curve. Thinking about throwing a powercore 2.1 on it to see what difference that makes. Anyone else try this?

I thought the same. Bike feels like it was choked off a little from the exhaust. Put a fatty and powercore 2 on it and my lord it made that thing sing. Best $300 I've dropped in a while.

Broke mine in a similar area to yours about 10 years ago. I also thought it would be best to have the rod removed, but my surgeon advised against it. He said in all of his years, working with athletes of all types, the only time he had seen a rod get damaged was when a Nascar driver hit the wall at 200 mph.

The surgeon told me that the removal process was as bad or worse and recovery of a couple months. Anyway, get a second opinion before you decide to remove it.

Yes, surgeon told not to put to much thought into it. The removal recovery process is about the same as when you break it. My leg never gives me issues. You'll be back before you know it.

Yes... I second that. I had one on my 2013 250sx and loved it. However... the 2017 is supposed to have more torque or feel more like a 4 stroke than its previous years. A flywheel most likely will help... but what weight??? Idk... I guess I'm gonna let mxa or someone else with better resources to find out the best weight before I put it on mine.

Can you elaborate on the changes you got with the FMF system?

The reason I ask is, I put the fatty and shorty on my 2014. It livened it up, but (along with other changes I made) turned it more aggressive than I wanted. I know I could've detuned it but I'm trying to avoid making the 17 into a monster. I'm just curious to find more detail about the changes.

Also, did you have to play with jetting after the pipe switch?

I to broke my femur in about the same area as to what is being discussed. My Dr asked me if I had plans to continue to ride and keep at it. I told him without any hesitation yes. He said well I am supposed to advise you to take it out however I would keep it in. If it bothers you later on in life down the road we can discuss the possibility of removing it....However keep it in.

I do know someone who had a rod in their femur and they rebroke their leg and bent the rod riding MX... No lie

After reading all threads on this bike I just pulled the trigger and ordered in a 250 sx. It was a hard decision but I think it was the right one. Hope every one keeps posting there jetting info because I have no clue about that stuff. Lol. This will be fun! Smile

Was it Damien Plotts? Or Ty Wallace? I heard the same but it was so long ago I forget who it was.

I was weeks making up my mind on either a 16 or 17 450 or this bike. What made me change my mind is this thread and the fact that I want a change from a 450. I only rode a 250 two stroke once that was back in August and i had a blast!

Did you order a '17? I forget when the ordering opens up for the '18 but that's my plan.

I pre ordered mine in June but ended up using a different dealer after it was almost 2 months late. Don't expect it to be there when the dealer says it will.

60:1 holy cow. That's thin. No wonder it's rich. Anyone tried running 40:1 or even 32:1 to see if that leaned u out better than through such huge jetting changes? Just so u all know every RC valve cr owner ever has felt ur pain. Just get a Keihin and be done with ur jetting issues lol. I don't see how anyone gets away with 60:1. Yikes

So I have not ridden her yet. But... I did check the reeds to prevent of what happened to slipdog or other riders having trouble with them, and they look good. I have only changed some plastics and put new graphics (new style) and new levers (new arc f6). Gonna test her this weekend. Will put so feedback on motor & suspension next week.braaappp

Congrats man! Those retro graphics look awesome. I had an '03 125SX as my first real MX bike so I've always liked the look.

Let us know how it turns out.

Read the manual, that's what ktm tells you to do. Pretty sure they know what their bike needs.
