I bought a thor jersey and pants back in 09 when i first started riding and the pants weren't very durable, they fit kind of weird and got a hole in them pretty quickly. The dealer by me is closing out last years thor core gear and I wonder if any of their last years stuff was any better? It sure is cheap as hell, $50 for pants and I was thinking of getting a couple sets. But I don't want garbage that wont last. I read a lot of similar stories about older thor gear falling apart.

The new Prime Fit is insane. MUCH cheaper than Seven gear and the fit is awesome. Also, they way the pants are cut on the Fuse stuff is pretty nice as well.

I'm with two two, the prime is what I wear now but I had some 2016 core and have had several sets over the last few years and it's super durable.

I had some 2015 Thor Core gear and it was my favorite by far. Buy it.

The Core gear is really good, I'm not sure on their 17 line because they changed the names of the gear.
I wouldn't recommend the phase gear if you're looking for durability.

I have not had good luck with THOR gear being durable at all. FLY and MSR gear and TLD has been very durable for me

Doesn't matter as long as the colorways on the kit are right.

Glad to see this post come up. I wore the Thor gear a few years back and liked most of it except the core gear was a bit overbuilt and heavy to me. I switched to fox but am not totally in love with their new styles so am thinking of going back to Thor. The new styles on the Thor gear look really good and they seem ot have up'd there game in terms of build.

Really my only drawback is that the fox airline gear to my knowledge is the best vented gear on the market. Not sure how any of the new Thor vented stuff compares

I have the Prime Fit and it sits perfect. However it has happened twice now that the white parts of the pants turned light blue Unsure . Has never happened before with any other gear and I've had lots of Thor.

I used to be a Thor guy but i went away from the brand after the horrific Core line in 2009. The absolute worst pants that i have ever witnessed in my life.

That being said. It seems like they are getting back on track. Could anyone give us some thoughts about the 2017 Prime Fit collection? Its way cheaper than the Fox Flexair and Seven.

Have you ever tried the Flexair stuff? I would like to hear a comparison since both the Seven and Fox Flexair is way more expensive than the Prime Fit.

I test-drove the FOX Flexair and settled on a couple of sets of the FOX 360 gear and would buy the 360 line again.

Yeah i have been with fox 2 years now, 360 line in 2015 and Flex Air in 2016. But i'm not that pumped on the 2017 Fox collection so i will probably try something new.

That is why i would like to hear some comparisons between the Thor Prime Fit and Fox Flex Air.

I've had two sets of the 2016 and 2017 Prime fit and I love the stuff. It's super comfortable and I feel like I stay cooler in it vs normal vented gear. The sleeves stay in contact with your arms so when the air flows through them it really helps cool you down. The pants are basically like wearing no pants at all. Completely unrestricted movement and super lightweight. They also use the good leather and there is a huge amount of it so you will definitely have leather between you and the bike. I've found it to be very durable, much more so than I thought it would be when I got my first set. I race in the woods and we are taking tight woods so I'm constantly brushing against limbs, trees, etc and honestly I can't believe how good it holds up. Plus since the sleeves aren't flapping it doesn't snag near as easily on brush or whatever. I always used core before and no doubt that stuff wears slightly better since it's much heavier duty, but the prime stuff is just so much more comfortable that I'll give up a small amount of durability any day. They pants are quite a bit cheaper too so that helps too.

ALL the gear is good, you just pick the one you think will make you look fast or bag the chics!

This years Thor gear has improved in all aspects. If you had a bad experience, I would take another look.
Also, a majority of these companies use the same factory, so fit is where improvements are seen, not really durability, unless they botch a seam flex point.

I'm really close to buying the orange/gray Prime fit set that Musquin is usually riding with. It looks amazing with the KTM.

But i could get the 2017 Alpinestars racer gear for about 80€ less...

The new Thor gear truly is leaps and bounds above their past stuff. Good fit and high quality. Very lightweight also

I prefer Wranglers, straight fit, deep blue. Carpenter Hammer Hoop.

Thor Prime sizes run pretty small compared to other Thor models. I wear a 34 in thor pants, ordered some Thor Prime in a size 36 and I was busting at the seams.

Interesting. Could you compare the 34 size Prime fit pant to a 34 size Fox pant?

I have a pair of fox 180 pants also size 34 that fit fine. The waist of my Prime fit, actually fit comparably to a 34 waist just fine but through the seat, thigh, and legs, they are extremely tight. They stretch quite a bit so movement isn't really hindered by it but I look ridiculous wearing them. Kinda look like a fat guy in skinny jeans.

Not really sure what's up with the sizes for the 17 collection, but they do run smaller, and I think that goes for the whole line.

I.e. I know they removed the XXS and XS sizes from the jerseys as well. The smallest jersey is now Small, and I have a couple Shift sets with a 32 pant that I use, and my 2017 Pulse and Fuse pants are at 36 and tight as well (yes, yes, I know, I've gained some weight but the 32 Shifts still fit!!! Tongue )

Quality seems far better this year though. Next set will be UFO again though. The UFO pants are the best in the world. They can take any beating and still look as good. A little bird told me that maybe you should look for some UFO gear stateside in 2018. Cool

I don't think the sizing runs small at all. I wear a 34 in core/fuse pants and I can wear a 32 Prime.

Do they have some vented gear like the fox 360 / flexair? I ride in hot conditions all the time and can use any help I can to not overheat.

Sorry for double post...

Want to change from fox as everyone here wears fox gear. I'm thinking Thor or Shift, that shift gear Reed was wearing at the AUS X open looks awesome too:
