MIPS seems like kind of laboratory cheat tech. The helmets are tested on smooth head forms (basically crash test dummy heads) with a single material layer on the outside. The MIPS slip planes are designed to slip around the inside of the helmet but don’t account for the fact that human heads have scalps and hair that allow a similar level of slip on those types of impacts. Fluid was absolutely purchased to be killed off. Gotta keep those high volume license fees coming in. The FOX outsmarted by the Hare.
The reality is that riders are significantly exceeding speeds compared to the industry standards on a moto, street or mountain helmets. So wearing something that is ultra light, super ventilated and it passes the standard - at the bare minimum... you will be hurt, the helmet will fail. So while Leatt shows they're going a bit higher than the industry...
Educate yourselves! Read your other user manuals boys and girls, this type of verbiage is common practice. The text comes from the CE certification scope of EN1938 (MX goggles). There is no AMA regulation on goggle specific certification, other than they must be shatter resistant.

This years Thor gear has improved in all aspects. If you had a bad experience, I would take another look. Also, a majority of these companies use the same factory, so fit is where improvements are seen, not really durability, unless they botch a seam flex point.
